I for the life of me can't find out what this CEL code is. First background- Currently my ST204 has a hardly leaky rear main seal or it could have been the PCV Valve cause it had oil in it and after cleaning it out it doesn't seem to be dripping but I haven't really looked into it yet but by checking the dipstick every day. So I'm pulling out of the house yesterday to head to work and the CEL comes on. I go around hoping someone has a code reader for it, which of course no one does so I jump TE1 and E1. Now to the actually important part-
Click for video.I think its a "No Code" but my buddy up at the shop (old imports aren't his thing...) thinks it could be 22 (Water Temp Sensor). Any guesses?
I haven't cleared the code yet, I'm going to in the morning to see if it comes back or if it was just some freak of nature because this is the first time I've EVER had it come on, shes pretty good to me so far

your pattern looks like the infamouse code 63, that is your error. do you have tranny problems?

Just saw there was a video, that's the strangest code flashing I've ever seen... No idea then. Google search of "Code 63 Toyota" did make mention of transmission though.

After watching it again, I'm getting 12 and 22 out of it. Which should be knock sensor and coolant temp sensor.

I got codes 12(1 flash, Pause, 2 flashes) and 22 (2 Flashes, Pause, 2 Flashes)
In my haynes manual it says the following for all celicas except the 2S-E models
Code 12- RPM Signal
Diagnosis=
*No "Ne signal to the ECM within several seconds after the engine is cranked
Or
*No "G" signal to the ECM two times in succesion when the engine speed is between 500 rpm and 4000rpm
Trouble area=
*Distributor Circuit
*Distributor
*Starter signal circuit
*Ignitor Circuit
*Ignitor
*ECM
Code 22- Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit
Diagnosis=
Open or short in the coolant temperature sensor circuit
Trouble Area=
*Coolant temperature sensor circuit
*Coolant temperature sensor
*ECM
I would check all the wires on/around your distributor and ignitor and clear the code to see if it goes away. You can check the temp sensor with a multimeter or replace it, they are fairly cheap. Hold the temp sensor in a pot of water on the stove with a thermometer to measure temp, then use the multimeter set to resistance(ohms the funny upside down u) and put the leads on the two terminals of the sensor.
Resistance is (roughly)
2k ohms @ 70°F
1k ohms @ 100°F
.7k ohms @ 140°F
.4k ohms @ 175°F
.2k ohms @ 212°F

Lol. so its possibly 63, 12, &/or 22. It's a start
I did forget to mention, I went over a pretty bad bump when it came on, so I mighta knocked something lose.
And yes TRD, I have a pretty bad autotranny. Solienoids are about gone. Takes a good 4 seconds for it to engage reverse, it hard shifts into 3rd after holding for a second. It's on the list of repairs...not too high up though.

sorry i was counting the transmission error codes
codes for the check engine is correct as stated above, but you do have a tranny problem as well. I would assume you have rough shifting or it kicks into neutral sometimes or it feels like loss of power like it skips a gear. besides the errors you are focusing on, shift solenoid is easy repair, i have sticky on that one but again it also part electrical sometimes not just the shift solenoid. these error codes are just good guides on where to start or look at to see whats causing it.
12 For OBDI - All the possible areas of concern can range from the distributor or the disttributor circuit, starter/ignition signal circuit, the ignitor or the ECU itself but on another toyota related site i get knock control or RPM signal, dammit toyota has too many.
22 engine coolant temperature sensor
do you actually notice a problem that makes you think those codes mean something or you see those codes but you don't notice anything wrong with your car you just wanna fix it to make sure it doesnt get worse? or tired of just seeing those codes?

I don't see anything wrong with it yet, all my gauges are correct. The code 12 I might understand though, my RPM gauge likes to flux around sometimes. I've always blamed it on my subs but that could be it. I'm gonna check my wires and clear the codes if anythings loose. If not, I'm gonna buy a new temp sensor and get my distributor looked at
