I hope it's not true

I dunno, if the BBC is smart they'll just axe the producer and get another one. It's not like there isn't someone that'd love the opportunity to produce the show and work with the Top Gear Trio. I got it, just get Edd China to be the producer and the show would flourish.
Batman722
It seems like the end of an era.

No one can replace him or the trio.
Another network will offer him a ton on money.

theyve got a couple more seasons in them.
they are just pumping up the drama

This is my assumption as well. Attract a lot of attention, get people outraged, then air the last three episodes of this season with record ratings.
Box
That was kind of my thought as well, and given past stints it honestly wouldn't surprise me. I really don't think the BBC would be so stupid as to cancel what's probably their most popular show.
malpaso
I'm afraid it's the truth. BBC is station owned by state. Public TV. Not commercial subject. They no need to care about ratings. They burned money to take footage for another three shows and they don't care. So don't count on common sense in terms of BBC.
Box
They still make money from sponsors/commercials and selling programming, so it's a consideration despite being publicly funded.
Nial
They have already stopped showing it on the BBC, this sundays Top Gear was cancelled, as have the rest of the shows in the series.......we wont ever see who will win out of the McLaren, Porsche or Le Ferrari.
spolski07
ill just leave this here.

x2

The show makes too much money for everyone involved to let something like a fist fight end it.
Box
Reruns were on the other night on BBC America.
Batman722
He is awesome.

New Top Gear is on right now, so I guess things must have panned out to a degree.

Looks like Piers Morgan stuck up for Clarkson a bit. http://jalopnik.com/piers-morgan-sticks-up...y-co-1693086185
Interesting to see him of all people say that.

It could just be typical british newspaper sensationalism...........It looks like Clarkson is a goner. Although Top Gear may live on, I am not sure Chris Evans is the right choice, he does a great breakfast radio show, and is a true petrolhead organising one of the biggest car shows in the UK.........I doubt he would pair well with Hammond and May...that's if they stick around, I suspect they will follow Clarkson to whatever he does next.
Nial
Well its over, Top Gear as we know it is dead.
NgoFcukinWay
captain slow and hamster won't do the show without jezza.
Nial
No they won't, I suspect they will start again with another channel and another car show.

That's what I'm hoping! Here's May's reaction to the news.

They won't do the show without him and he makes me hopeful that they'll find a way to continue to do this together.

Chris Harris wrote a great article on Top Gear and its impact.
Box
Well the BBC came out today on how they officially won't be renewing his contract. Oh well. Apparently other networks are already trying to reach out to him. I look forward to seeing High Gear on whichever channel wants to sign them.

BBC found a new host for Top Gear:

BBC: Top Gear's New Presenter

cheela

This is a great video conversation on the issue and gives a little hope for a return

http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-32067342

and the man makes a point in where Futbol players get a year leave or a pay dock for committing a similar act.

The BBC director seems to be looking beyond a return already. Who knows.
I still think there may be a comeback
