Hey,
I picked up a set of these coilovers. I noticed one front thrust washer has a little play in it. I have not installed them yet but wondering if it would cause issues . Would like to replace it or repair if possible.
Has anyone had this issue on their setup before?
I believe it could have been damaged by not being seated properly between the top mount and the plate for the spring. My setup is using the stock top mounts.
Thanks,
Martin

Its not a trust washer but a rubber spring seat. since there is no weight on the coilover the spring will rotate freely and move laterally a bit if the rubber seat is a little worn.
You can get new ones from TEIN California.
It could have been damaged or it could just be worn

Thanks for the reply.
I should note that this part has roller bearings inside it. It comes apart easily . There is a circular gap around the inner part of it. If i were to put an " o" ring in there, it might just fill in the gap.

oh really?
so it sounds like it is a thrust washer then! Are these new? I have a set that are a few years old and when I got them they had rubber seats.
If you could take a pic and post it that would be helpful, Im interested in what yours looks like.
here are mine, I used a combination of the rubber spring seats and delrin/stainless steel thrust washers

Wow,
Your's look quite different from mine. I will take some proper pics and put them in my profile.
I'm using stock top mounts, maybe that makes a difference?

those are very interesting. I've never seen those on the Super Streets before. I am using the Top mounts that came with the coilovers as well.
I'd contact TEIN USA then and give them the part or ID number that is on the coilovers to see if they can provide you with a bit of info and possibly any sort of replacement part you may need

Just wondering if they are the USA super street version? Which from memory looked slightly different to the Japanese ST202 version that I (and Tiga) have?

I would think they are US spec. I got them used around here.

So this weekend i installed the coilovers. I starter with the passenger rear. When i put the wheel on i noticed the tire was rubbing the bottom side of the spring and the side of the perch for the spring to sit on. My rear rims are 17x8.5 +33 235/45/17. I put on a 3 or 4mm spacer and it clears now.
The fronts were are pleasant surprise!! I took apart the kyb gr2 / eibach setup that i had on there. Just below the top plate was the exact same bearing setup that my coilovers came with. I used that to replace the one questionable one from my teins .
Car sits nice now and ride is not bad at all. Very happy with how it turned out. I will post some pics in my user profile..
Cheers,
Martin
