hey guys so the other day i went to pop the rear hatch on my 96 and the lever just felt as if the trunk was already popped and it was the same thing for the key hole has anyone else had this problem. it may be something simple because i havent actually had a look at it yet

it's probably your release cable or latch. take apart the hatch/trunk plastics if you can and see if their is still movement when you pull the lever to try and unlatch it. or pull your door sill and seat, carpet and rear paneling (i forget if you need to do all of that or not) and trace the cable back or if you can get a hold of it and just give it a good yank to see if it will unlock.
