Hi all,

I'm relatively new here. I just recently picked up a couple of GTFour WRC's in Canada and have them in storage for 2019. I've been on a number of the php based forums and none of them have taken literally hours to get my replies/posts to publish - which is what I'm encountering here. Is this the case for everybody? Is this a new-user thing where I need a minimum number of posts before I have free reign? Slow queues on the servers? Whatever the case, it's frustrating not knowing when/if my posts are going to show or not.

Thanks!

We had a bad spam bot issue a while back, so the site's admin had to make some changes to the board to get things under control. One of the changes he made is that new members are "trial" members, meaning their posts are kept invisible until approved by a moderator. So basically, they'll appear as soon as one of us sees them. smile.gif

So when does a "new member" get off this list? smile.gif

Unfortunately it varies. It was supposed to be after 5 approved posts, members would be “full” members. It seems that it’s closer to 30+ approved posts now, and unfortunately Coomer doesn’t sign in frequently to fix the bug. It’s a real PITA, I know. I get notifications of pending threads but not individual posts, so we have to check for invisible posts manually. I check newer threads daily for pending posts but if you happen to post in an older thread, you may need to PM myself or one of the other mods so we can approve the post. It’s happened more than once that a post didn’t get noticed for quite a while.

On an unrelated note, I dig the list of cars in your sig. thumbsup.gif

Maybe we should make an official "New Member Thread" that they can get their required posts out of the way, it's fairly obvious which new members are legitimate people and which ones are bots.

Then that makes life easier on mods and new members.

I'm still in the same boat after 48 posts, and it's annoying. I hesitate to post in existing threads because often by the time my post appears, many others have appeared below it and it doesn't even get noticed.

This would be nice, because honestly, if I have to go over a day now before seeing my responses/posts appear, it's little incentive for me to stick around. I'm not trying to say I'm 'all that' by any stretch of the imagination, but this is a little bit much.....

I saw this after posting a somewhat snarky response, but in all honesty, how many new members are expected to come in and stick around if there's no indication whatsoever as to what happened to their post/reply? I'd get it if I got a "new member canned response" indicating posts needed approval up to a certain number. Then I'd have some kind of idea as to what to expect. I couldn't find it documented anywhere either, hence the dedicated post. smile.gif

There have been a bunch of threads just like this in this website discussion forum. You arent the first to bring it up, but there isnt much the mods can do than what they have already done to approve posts and explain the situation.
Coomer the admin is literally the only person who can make any further changes to the structure of the site.
Im sure there are a few people who are put off by this roadblock, and give up and dont return (albeit most of the activity of this site has been held by the FB page) but there isnt much we can do other than warmly welcome them and home they push through.
We all have contacted Coomer multiple times over the past few years but no reply.

Unfortunately, while this issue persists, there really is no incentive. frown.gif We’ve had several members come and go over the last several years because of this issue. Most go over to Facebook because of the instant gratification of immediate posting and near immediate (although typically incorrect, from what I’ve seen) posts and information. Of course we hope you stick it out here but you would t be the first to abandon the forum because of this.

You don't get me on facebook, I'm a forum exclusive.
