I'm assuming that I wasn't the only one that couldn't access this site for some time, correct?
bloodMoney
I'm still having trouble with it.

For whatever reason, it won't load the forums page, but if you punch in [/index.php], it comes up. Weird.
mneal2_92788
I have to load the buying/selling page to get here

Any ides what caused the 3 week hiatus and whether it's all been resolved? Or should I start archiving all the useful threads...
CoolZeen
Lets see if with this happening will atrac more people and get more action in here. but we still know who are the loyal ones.

Definitely start archiving. No idea what has been causing the site to crash and Coomer is unreachable.
BillH
Glad it's back, not on often but sure missed the forums. Thought I had been blocked for lack of activity.
Box
I honestly thought Coomer stopped paying for the site, we need to get something going on the side and probably start transferring info for such an event that wouldn't surprise me if it happened sooner than later. The fact he's kept it going for as long as he has and with what little forum activity there is lately says a lot, but I wouldn't blame him if at some point he pulls the plug. There used to be free forum boards than anyone could set up, rather or not that's still the case I don't know but it'd be worth looking into unless someone wants to front the costs of a full on site like this. That or they could offer to buy the rights and account from Coomer so then these problems won't happen anymore.

Some of the Starved Rock crew have a group text going lol, we're so high tech!

Ughh, I can't be bothered with texting or social media.

Hey... I think the forum clock is fixed now, I wonder if that's what did it then since it had gotten sooo far off.

Yup, it is. I'll be...

I keep saying it, but I've pulled over the stickies from here to the 6gen sub-forum on celicatech. If I have any volunteers to help migrate the linked threads, that would help immensely

I am kinda new to 6GC, but I would certainly be sad to see it go. I caught the Celi bug late, but I am definitely ... infected? ;-)

I was just thinking, what if all the problems with the forum are from the bandwith usage? Nearly 20 years of threads is a lot of information... Maybe it's time to do like other forums and clean house and archive threads with useful information and delete the rest? Like could probably save a good bit just by deleting all the old marketplace threads that're more than 30 days without a response, and that'd be easy and immediate since nothing to sift through really.
BonzaiCelica
good idea

Older marketplace threads are an excellent source to determine value of parts, especially nowadays that sales are less frequent. The problem with deleting threads is that it's hard to tell what is useful and what is not, not to mention that it would be a very time consuming task.
Box
Sorta kinda not really, what people are willing to pay now is the value and not what people were paying 5-10+ years ago. Besides it's not like one new single thread couldn't be compiled with all the past sales info anyway if someone were so inclined. It's dead weight and if it could help with saving the entire forum from being tanked it's a good starting point. As would clearing out off topic, website discussion, and general discussion, and I wouldn't be averted to binning the Today I threads and starting those over either as a means of quick bandwith release. Usually with admin control you can delete multiple threads at once, so I don't think it'd be all that time consuming.

And... we're back!
