the back preassure that engine puts out affects how DEEP the noise is. example, have you ever heard a little civic 1.6L take off. they sound like a fart machine. A celica 2.2 has more back preassure, and exhaust can sound better. But most important is price, if you go to advance auto zone and buy a 40 dollar exhaust you probably wont get what you are looking for. personally A'PEXi is what i've had on my celice, 3000 gt. and mx-3. i loved it.

there is a belt tensioner pulley on the celica, if this looses tension the belts will make the whine noise. this is easy to check.

On the alternator these should be a long bolt that adjust the tension of the alternator ( it sit right in front of the alternator). tighent this, and you will fill the tenstino on the belt increase, try this and see it if stops. good luck

my old celica had the injen intake, worked well. And overall even though one intake might filter better than another, or allow more air into the engine the HP difference is minimal so i would not worry to much about....thats just my two cents...
