Hi Guys,

The time has come for me to move on from my beloved GT-FOUR. If any of you think any of your other forums might be interested, please feel free to link them to my post here.

1997 Toyota Celica GT-FOUR - 202kW at the wheels - rebuilt motor with forged internals - custom paint job - genuine Veilside bodykit with replica front lip.

Engine has been fully rebuilt in 2008 with:
JE Forged Pistons
Eagle Conrods
HKS Valve Springs
TRD Billet Cams
HKS Cam Wheels
Carbonetics Twin Plate Clutch
Link G3 Fully Programmable ECU with Display Link

This car was imported from Japan to New Zealand in 2006, I was the first NZ owner. At the beginning of 2010 I imported the car into Australia, where it has been fully complied. I have dyno sheets and receipts for all modifications.

The car has the potential to make substantially more power - I chose not to upgrade the turbo as the car is my daily driver and in current trim remains an economical, relatively low maintenance daily, which still turns heads and has plenty of power to keep a smile on my face.

I have owned this car for a long time, and always had it professionally serviced and maintained.

I am happy to answer and questions and provide copies of receipts and other documents for anyone who has genuine interest.

Looking for $15,000 but price is negotiable, all reasonable offers will be considered.

That's good, I was feeling pretty guilty for the no show, due to weather and State of O being too good to miss...

Sorry boys!!

I was supposed to meet friends in Ashfield last night, and completely forgot, so I am seriously not making any promises, especially if work keeps going the way it has been. In the immortal words of Bart Simpson "I can't promise I'll try, but I'll try to try"

DEAR GOD!!!!

Any idea what it would take to get that bought over and registered in Aus?

Hi. Can't tell you about NZ to Aus, but here's some info on Oz to NZ -I imagine it wouldn't be that different the other way around.

Sounds like the biggest challenge is whether the vehicle meets the current emmision laws of your country or not.

Given the high price of GT4's in Australia, I think that if it was possible, it would actually be worth it

As someone who has just done this (or supposedly, still no car to show for it) Australian officials don't like imports, part of protecting Ford, Holden and Mitsi factories over here. That means you have to have owned, and LIVED, in the same country as the car, for 12 months. They want copies of your passport and ownership docs, if you owned the car for 13 months but spent 6 weeks on holiday in Europe then it is no dice. Seriously, they almost stopped my brother-in-law importing his Evo 9 because he was cutting it close.

On top of that, the compliance etc on mine is looking at running close to A$5k (granted it's modified but a good portion of the costs are still relevant) plus you pay Duty and GST on the value that Australian officials put on the car. The car arrived in the country Dec 3rd and I have seen it once but yet to drive it, it's a slow, complicated process.

Moral of the story, entertain this idea only at your own risk, with deep pockets and a love for filling out forms multiple times. You might as well just buy mine.

TRD Rotors, they do make it look a little more exciting... Sure thing, PM me your mobile number. FYI my brother in law imported his Evo9 and it took 9 months to clear customs, it was modded almost as heavily as my Celica, so don't expect it to be here anytime soon!

Thanks, nice to hear a little love for the VS kit, and I do like it with the new intercooler crammed into it...

These are the photos I received yesterday, I couldn't be happier with the final result, although I can't wait to see it in person. I will be sure to take some more shots when it arrives in Sydney - fingers crossed it will be scratch free!!

Enjoy!

Next on the exterior mods list:
Clear front and side indicators
Projectors
18" Black rims, possibly with a paint matched pinstripe

Yeah sick and tired of seeing those around, plus all they seem to do is FMIC, lowered suspension, BOV, external wastegate (VTA) and finish off with "For sale 027 ..."

but once the paintings finished I'm sure there will be a few jaw droped faces wink.gif

Far less of all of them over here - the cars of choice are SSS Pulsars and the usual Hondas... I have not seen a single GT4 over here yet, so I am expecting it to get some attention when it hits Aussie shores...

I did wonder that myself - I am no painter, I guess because he was working to my budget he had to cut a few corners?

QUOTE (SwissFerdi @ Oct 22, 2009 - 7:34 PM) *
I think a bright red with a flat black stripe, or similar design worked into it would be SICK. Kind of like snakeloa's GT-4. And I guess I can understand if you don't like the stock GT-4 bumper and hood, but why change it then to something you don't like? confused.gif

I didn't change it, I bought it fresh from Japan with full, genuine Veilside kit. At the time I hadn't seen a lot of the other styles, although I did and still do prefer Pakfeifer. I am opening myself up to criticism again, but I didn't buy the GT-4 because I was passionate about the 6GC, I bought it to be a bit different to everyone else running STi's and EVO's... It wasn't until I joined this site that I discovered even the non-turbo's could be pretty impressive looking machines.

with all the body work that was done (or appears to have been done) any reason u didnt shave the antenna?

Budget constraints plus the fact it will be a daily and where I live doesn't get the best radio receiption mean I kept the interior as is.

QUOTE (SwissFerdi @ Oct 22, 2009 - 4:39 PM) *
I still think a GT-4's body should remain unmolested, in that the Veilside kit takes away from the car...but I can't wait to see the finished color! I do love red. thumbsup.gif

I will get crucified for this, but I am not a fan of the factory GT-4 in so much as it's a rally car - I think the right kit makes it look better as a road car. Having said that, I am far from a fan of the VS front kit, but again, budget and lack of options in NZ limits my ability to change it.

I don't like my chances, it's not going to be cheap to get it certified road legal in Aus, and it's worth more when the time to sell comes over here...

I can understand that, neither am I but there isn't a lot available over here so I am leaving it as is for now. It is on the list of things to tweak when the budget allows...

Hi All,

Just received these pics today from STM back home in NZ, they have just finished replacing my old battered front mount with a shiny new one, and re-routing my intercooler plumbing. While they were there they fitted an HKS SSQV BOV and put in the Cold Air Box, it is now at my paint shop so expect more pics soon... once complete it will be on the boat and heading to Sydney so I can enjoy it!

Hope you like em...

Would need more info on the Supra - but if it is a Mk IV - DO IT! I drove a fully stock except the exhaust '96 Supra and it ran rings around my GT-Four. The Supra is a very quick car.

Having said that, they aren't very practical - no trunk space at all and virtually no rear seats. Thirsty too. I'd still do it.

Thanks! That's a relief, I was worried my "skills" would not be up to scratch, I am hardly a photographer and was only using the camera I got for free from my work... I was pretty happy with how they came out.

I am over the front kit, it is Veilside (i think it's called Invader or something in the States) but it is missing the bottom lip as it is damaged. I want a Pakfeifer kit but can't find one in NZ/Aust...

Thanks for the comment though!

After a drive from Wellington to Martinborough over the epic Rimutaka hill Road, I stopped to take some pics, just to prove the GT-Four really exists... it is good to be home, I have missed this car...

HKS Silent Hi-Power Exhaust

Display Link Computer Readouts - it was hot due to being stopped.

Messy Engine Bay

Welcome to the GT-Four family, looks tidy. Do you have performance plans or mainly cosmetics?
