Had much the same problem with my missus' subi... ended up being a loose electrical connection somewhere! couldn't tell you where exactly; we unplugged the -ve battery then went around unplugging and replugging whatever we could find. re-connected the -ve to the battery and it was all good. |

Haven't been here for a while, been too predisposed with wedding plans, moving interstate and all the rest of it. I'm finally in a position where I can start some work on the 6G/accumulate some required parts. I recently had it in at my mechanics to get a few things checked over for rego etc and when I got my baby back half of the plastic plugs in the engine bay were ****ed! I totally understand why and I'm not blaming my mechanic - the previous owner ignored all maintenance cries by the Celica and thus had not done ANYTHING maintenance wise in well over 12 months (our guess). Loooong story short, the poor engine has been running hot for quite some time and pretty well baked all the plastic connectors rendering them brittle and impossible to remove without shattering. As far as I'm aware this simply does not happen unless the engine bay gets excessively hot. I've been looking around for somewhere to buy either a new loom or at the very least all the plugs to replace them one by one, but my searches are coming up a little short - the wiring sticky didn't have much useful info for this particular occasion and searching the forum/other forums didn't yield much. I'm in Australia so the loom would be for the 2.2l 5SFE liftback version. I thought I saw a thread on here earlier where someone had made their own loom using high-temp heatshrink (and it looked awesome) but I've lost it. ***EDIT*** Just had a quote $475 complete engine wiring harness delivered and in perfect shape, 1 year warranty... Does this sound steep to anyone? I didn't have any real idea about cost but was guestimating around the $300 mark... |
