Yea im a silly noob, i think I found the issue, it was my grounds. I need to replace the whole negative cable and ground wires. I really hate messing with wires lol. |

Electrical System Keeps Dying Ok I replaced all the Battery Cables, Positive and Negative, Grounds, and the other 2 wires that come from my Positive Terminal on battery. Things were going kinda smooth for a bit, but I had the occasional hard time starting it, and then one day I drove it for a few minutes, tried to crank her up again and nothing. Not even an attempt of a low battery or anything. Complete electrical system dead. Not even enough juice I guess to open my Power Door Locks. Now im assuming of course the battery could have been crap, after all it was like a $40 battery i got from Walmart, but, a couple days later when I was not home my wife said the Alarm system went of. Now if my car does not have enough juice to even open the doors how can my alarm just go off by itself? I dont get it. Could this be a short somewhere? Faulty crap battery? Im clueless, and before I take it to a shop I know you guys here on 6GCelica are pretty dam smart and have helped me with issues in the past. This probably is not enough info to fully fix my problem, but I will post whatever it is you need to know. So please let the trouble shooting begin. |

I know I sound like a complete and totally mechanical noob but, my question is: 1. For the Battery Cables there are 2 wires exiting from deep into the engine bay. One is thick and copper while the other is thin and silver. I am assuming that both of these cables connect to the positive terminal on battery? And where do they actually connect to in the engine bay? Starter and what else? 2. I then have a few cables that look just like thin grounding cables. They go to various spots on the Engine Block, Transmission and the Frame. Why so many different grounding spots? My main issue was, I was doing a Battery Relocation about 1 year ago, but after cutting some cables and stuff I had to Deploy for about a year and now I am home and forgot most of what it looked like before I left ![]() |

Ok I will try to add multiple grounds this weekend. I was trieing to avoid running another battery cable all the way back to the engine compartment. But i will try and see if that works. |

Not sure the guage but standard battery wires that came with the kit. And did i mention my brand new battery is dead after only about 1 weeks of not starting it? |

When i try to jump it shouldnt the lights at least come on when i have a good car and battery hooked up with the jumper cables. I dont get anything. |

Ok so I relocated my Battery to my trunk. I grounded the battery negative to the trunk frame. Well the problem is, im now having starting issues. It sounds like when i dont have enough juice to start the engine. Now if i dont run the car at least once a day, the battery dies. WTF is the problem, can anyone offer some advice? |

Well i changed the gas, the problem actually looks a little better, but it is still happening. I wanna change the gaskets in my exaust but i cant get THE FREAKING BOLTS out. Im sure they havent been out ever and the car is a 1996. WTF i feel like such a newb, i just dont wanna run into any more problems by screwing it up, or snapping bolts or something. |

You 6Gc guys are the best, im gonna try to work the gas thing later today and see whats up. If that doesnt fix it i guess ill go and strip some things apart and try to trace the issue a litttle better. Hopefully some fresh gas and a little octane booster will do the job. Maybe clean my injectors also. Thanks guys for the advice and input... |

So im thinking bad fuel now, with the black smoke comming from muffler. If it is bad fuel, if i just add some more good gas and maybe an additive ya think that might do it? |

Not loosing coolant or oil, dont know what water pump was used. Factory OEM im sure. About 120K miles. Maybe bad fuel? But must be something else... What about gaskets? What about exaust gaskets? Can they be an issue? Where the manifold connects to the exaust pipes underneath the engine? Oh by the way if it matters, its a 5SFE, 1996 Celica GT. |

The water pump and timming belt was changed out about 2 years ago, and the car hasnt really been driven for about 8 months? |

Once the car gets to operating temp, a strong burning smell is comming from engine. Light black smoke is comming from muffler and lots of white burning smoke is comming from engine. It sort of is comming from behind the alternator down below. Can not track it completely. Any ideas? ![]() |

The cool thing im military so i dont have to worry about emissions or safety inspections. i live in WA but im not a WA resident. So my windows also could be as dark as they want. hehe. Not gonna gut the cat. I just got the header cause it was cheap so id check it out. I do wanna go turbo sometime the end of this year after my interior project but thats a whole new subject. as of now though im still trieing to find a decent full exaust that will bolt right on. |

maybe ill screw with mine after im done with my interior project. as for now the header is decoration for my garage, all shiny and new. that'll sit there until i find an exaust system. By the way anyone have any good ideas for my exaust. i want a full catback system but i cant find anyone online with one. |

i have the header but i was having issue getting the 3 bolts out of the lower pipe, rusted as ****. any suggestions on that. I didnt want to break the bolts until im sure the header will fit and work without burning up my engine compartment with more intense heat then the car already makes. pics and info appreciated. |
