...

Could be LOL!!!

All I know is that in 1996 in Spain they released these models:

ST 1.8 115cv

GT 2.0 175 cv

GT-Four 2.0 Turbo 202cv

Those where the models released here from 1995 to 1999, that's according to the Spain Toyota dealership...

Hi all!!

I joined this site a few months back (febuary lol) cos I was planning on bein a proud owner of a 1999 1.800cc Celica ST, but unfortunatly that fell thru. Work and economy here in Spain didn't allow for me to get the car. But I've stumbled on another Celica that's in my price range and might be able to get it, but need some advice first.

The model I've come accross is a 1996 2.0L 175cv Celica GT. Here's some pics:

The front would need some paint work as it's a bit chipped, but that's not my worry, specially when the asking price is 1000€ (1418$ on today's conversion rate) so it's not a bad price at all. The GT-Four spoiler is an aftermarket add-on, same as the fake air intake on the hood. My concern is the fact it has 270.000km on the clock. The owner says that at 200.000km he had the engine completly petrol cleaned, got numerous retainers and gaskets changed and had the engine head scraped and cleaned. He claims the engine to still have double it's life left but i'm not sure. Also says it will eventually need a "cardan" changed but still got a while left before it needs doing and not sure if that's an expensive part to replace or not.

All in all, it seams a good deal for a nice Celica considering it has all you'd expect from a Jap car including central locking with alarm, electric sunroof, leather interior, etc... What's your opinion guys?? Is it worth buying or would the repair / paint work out more expensive than it's worth??? Any insight on if what the owner says was done to the engine will in fact give it a long lasting life or can anyone forsee i'll end having problems with it??

Asking you guys cos you're the experts on Celica's and I'm a numpty with mechanics in general, nevermind specific Celica stuff lol

Thanks to all in advance

Thanks for the advise guys.

The whole decall thing is kinda the craze over here, so was just a thought that crossed my mind.

Been lookin thru the Interior section of the site, and WHOA!!!! Gotta get that key ring and clock in blue!!!! Wouldn't mind gettin the gages in blue too along side all other interior lights, but soldering and electronics isn't my thing and payin someone would result VERY expensive I'm guessin. When i finally have it, I'll give a couple of things a go and see how I get on smile.gif

Once again thanks a lot for your opinions and recommendations. Any insight on what type of head lamps to get and where to get them??

Hi there.

Been looking thru the forum and I must say you guys have some AWSOME Celica's. Really impressed with some of the results I've seen with the different mods you've all used.

I'm from Spain and don't yet own a Celica but planing on owning one real soon. AFAIK it has the Veilside front bumper already installed. I'll attach a pic and you could maybe verify it for me.

I've been looking up and down the net at different things and there's a few mods I'd like to do to it myself when I get it.

It's a silver 1999 1.8 115CV Celica, think from the last batch of the 6gen if I'm not mistaken. KM's on the clock is in the 96.000 range so not too many KM's done on it for a 10yr old car. Bein a Japanese car and knowing that the owner has looked after it, I know it's a good buy for 3.000 euro.

The mods I'd like to make to it are:

- The full Veilside body kit (having the front bumper installed already makes it a "cheap" upgrade, nicedeals.co.uk has the rest of the body kit at a very reasonable price, 189 pounds for the Veilside rear bumper and they ship world wide)

- Afterburner tail lights

- 17" rims

- Blue underbody LED strips

- Sport exhaust (if possible to simulate the Supra's sound from The Fast & The Furious)

- Interior blue neons

- Angel eyes or some type of mod to the front lights

- Modify the front bumper to fit Knight Rider LED scanners in blue

- Side decall from the Supra in The Fast& The Furious

- Minor interior mods (pedals, seat covers, gear lever, etc) with Sparco parts

- Koni shocks to lower the car maybe 3 or 4 cm

Some of the mods are expensive I know, but a Celica is worth it smile.gif

As far as the front lights, i wanted to ask your advise. Here in Spain I've never seen a Celica with Angel Eyes or any type of modified front lights and seen very few with the Afterburner rear lights. I've seen you all write about JDM lights and projectors and clear lights and stuff and wanted to ask your advise as to what would be the best looking. I'm guessin the "projector" lights are like the "side lights" that are part of the to outer lights of the car (low beam are they??? confused.gif ) and can be put installed in any colour buld or LED set and are activated separate from the low beam lights??? I do kinda like the Angel Eye effect on cars but don't know how they'd look on a silver Celica or if they'd even be allowed. I also like how your cars look with the clear lamps rather than the normal "dull" lamps it has.

For the Afterburner lights, I've been reading that you have to choose where to put the reverse light and the fog light as it doesn't cater for them??? How would that be done?? Anyone who has them and could give me some insight as to how to do it??

Last question (sorry for bein a pain in the butt lol) is in regards of the front bumper. I've read the "How to" you have here on the site and was wondering if it would be the same process to remove the Veilside bumper?? I want to make two cuts of 36x2 cm in it between the head lamps to the fit some meshing at the back of the cuts and install the Knight Rider scanners some how behind the meshing. Also, any idea on how to remove the rear bumper???

Any insight as to how to make some of the mods, mod recommendations and opinions are all very welcome. Also any recommendations on where to buy the parts I'm after (Specifically the Afterburner tail lights and the front lamps).

Next I'll attach the 2 pics I have of the car I'm wanting to buy so maybe someone can confirm the front bumper is in fact the Veilside bumper.

Thanks in advance to everyone!!
