why didnt toyota just 2jz it

Seriously? GTFO. Your comments like this have gotten old and repetitive.

I think the 2.0 boxer is one of Subaru's most common motors. It will be nice to see Toyota get their hands on the engine and rework a few things to improve upon a great motor... I just hope there is space to get to the spark plugs between the frame rails... kindasad.gif

And it might make less power than a S2K, but it will have something the S2K knows nothing about.... torque. The F20C is a great motor to make noise and not get anywhere fast.

Agreed on all of this - especially about the S2K, there's a reason it's called the torqueless wonder.

I'm excited to see how well this engine does in the FT and if Toyota will look into placing it (or reworked/detuned versions) into other cars in the lineup.

And that is the exact reason I will never drive a Honda. That seems to be how all of their "performance" cars are. I am honestly looking forward to the 86. I don't really care for the sound of boxer engines (I have heard way too many and thought a helicopter was landing on top of a parking garage) but it will be nice to have something that makes some power and is rwd.

Yesterday was Imogen Heap. Today was Five Finger Death Punch. Usually stuff like As I Lay Dying, All That Remains, August Burns Red and the such.

I actually love to read and learn.... my main topics of interest are astro-physics and theoretical physics. I also like to learn foreign languages (working on French right now) and going to movies. All that and thinking about what I would love to do to my car.

Oh yeah and going to concerts.

maybe I'm strange for it.. but I actually enjoy school....

Trust me you aren't the only one. I would honestly hate to not be in school. Yeah I don't get paid, but I like it so much better than work. I only have the rest of this week and then next week is finals week. Next semester I start actually taking classes towards my major. I want to hurry up and graduate so I can do grad school though.

A gulf coast meet would be pretty awesome actually, I'll look into that for the next meet. Seems like most of the active members come from O-town and further south.

I would be a lot more likely to make the Gulf Coast. It really is hard for me with money right now. Plus a pic of a bunch of Celi's on the coast would be nice. I definitely need to try your burgers some time.

Ya, sorry you dont get a choice, samir needs me..ill be here to annoy everyone in your thread now smile.gif

But yuri is def right, if you dont have devoted members your gonna have a ****ty meet, end of story. You have to have one of you 6gc.net addicts talk to some members that are hardly ever on and help them out and show them that if they go to an online meet they wont get robbed and attacked by crazy ppl. Even maybe organize a few games to play with the celicas at the meet(it sounds stupid but its actaully pretty fun if ppl get into it. The Griff V smaay parallel parking war on 2010 was epic..

I mean florida has a HUGE car scene doesnt it?There is bound to be a bunch of 6gc members lurking around.

It depends on how you look at it. All the places I have lived in Florida have been dominated by Nissan and Honda. A lot of the 6gc's I see now are ragged out POS's driven by college students who don't take of their cars. I saw one where the headlight was just kinda dangling off to the side and the passenger side of thr bumper was all banged up. This would have been fine if the person got into an accident recently, but the first time I saw it was about 1.5 years ago and it still looks the same today. That being said, I would love to come to the meet, but as of right now I only work Friday through Sunday and go to school the other 4 days of the week. And to me, school comes before anything else at this point in my life. Plus I really don't have the money to drive out there. I'm a broke college student lol. I honestly feel guilty that I can't go. Hopefully all goes well and I can make a future meet. I think a Gulf Coast meet would be very nice.

^ That's exactly the plan, keep the Celica as a DD and have the Miata as a fun car that'll see autocross and maybe track time, and will also allow me to learn mechanics.
It'd see a turbo kit instead of an LSx conversion. wink.gif

American into Japanese is pure bs. I'd do the turbo like you, Ferdi. Or I would actually spend the time/money and get an SR20 in there.

what do you think the ac cobra was?? it was a little British car with an American V8. same concept here. small Japanese car, with a monster V8. those LS1's can be built NA 400hp with not much more than a good set of heads and a tune. think about how that miata would fly! smile.gif and since the LS1 is an aluminum block, it doesn't throw the weight distribution off too much. back when i was looking into doing this about 2 years back, I read that the dist was 52/48 or something like that. sure its not 50/50, but still. wink.gif

I agree with both options. A turbo would be good and if you had about 200 hp in a Miata, that would definitely move you around quickly. On the other hand, after seeing a Monster Miata (4.6 from Ford) at a car show I have wanted one of those too. Ferdi, you should get 2 Miatas and do both routes.

I'm sorry that you live in Lakeland. I just moved out of there about 7 months ago. Although, I am now in Winter Haven which still sucks. People in Polk County always drive about 20 mph below the speed limit.

Anyway, I have no idea right now if I would be able to make it. No idea what work will be like around that time.

Bullet For My Valentine - Say Good Night

Have they come out with anything new? I like them, but they went to complete crap with Scream. Aim. Fire. Everything before that album was great.

They have a new CD that came out earlier this year. It is called Fever. It is alright, more poppy than their other stuff.

Ferdi, if you have the money and the car is good jump on it. I know earlier I said stuff about waiting for later in life, but you are only young once. The only reason I am encouraging you to do this is because I already spent over $1k on Christmas stuff. If I still had the money I would most likely be in the same position you are in right now.

my update
my latest accomplishment is passing the nclex-rn. i am officially a registered nurse.
http://www2.dca.ca.gov/pls/wllpub/WLLQRYNA...mp;P_LTE_ID=828

now all i need to do for the new year is find a job!

so glad to be done with school....for now...i might decide to go all the way for "nurse practitioner", but i have 80 grand in loans so ill need to work frown.gif

nothing planned for the celica, it's had its days. ive changed everything there is to change to it except the engine and the paint, so maaaaybe a paint job? i dunno

i still have the Sky. nothing like cruising down PCH with the top down in the middle of December! mwahahahaha

Grats on passing the nclex, my girlfriend is in nursing school right now.

As for me, I want to get in better shape. Hopefully keep a steady job. Chip away more at my physics degree. And hopefully something else good will happen very soon...

Comparing the speed of two slow cars is pointless. Just because it's faster than a slow car doesn't mean its fast, in fact it's not even the same platform...that's like comparing a celica and an N/A supra. All I was saying is that I personally would not build a 3000gt when there is a VR4 model existent. I mean, I just don't see a point, even if you TT swap it, its still FWD...That means all the money you put in it trying to get it as good as a VR4 is stock won't even achieve that goal. I guess its a similar reason I wouldn't get an Impreza when I could get a WRX or STI, same reason I wouldn't build a Lancer when there's an Evo, same reason I wouldn't build a Neon when theres an Srt4, etc. Because if you get a car to build, you might as well not start with the base model. Besides I know the aftermarket support isn't outrageous but GT4's have what we need, what are we missing out on? Altezza tail lights? Super ultra JDM Spoilers? Ski racks? Metal floorboards?

For the most part I would agree with this about just buying the best stock trim and then going from there. I think in the case of older cars, as has already been stated they can be kind of rare. Let's take for example a 2003 Mustang GT, not the best car but the first that came into my head. Plenty of people build them up instead of just going out and buying a 2003 SVT Cobra, which is supercharged stock. I think the reason people build N/A cars is because they are easier to find and honestly, a hell of a lot cheaper to insure than the top trims of cars. A SVT for me would have been about $400 a month on insurance alone whereas a stock GT would have only run me about $100. Not saying what you stated is wrong, just saying why I think people build N/As instead.

Everybody is just straight up hating this car- why? It's been just as reliable as the celica, a lot of you are exaggerating a lot. As far as parts just "needing to be replaced one after another" that is not the case with this car. 1.Sure, it has it's issues, but what doesn't. 2.You can't buy a used car that's a 94 and expect it to be perfect. And 3I find this car is way faster than the celica. I've driven this right after I've hopped out of the driver seat of the celi. Way more powerful. And one of the biggest reasons I love this car? Daniel knows what I'm talking about. AFTERMARKET SUPPORT.4. Something some of you Celica owners don't even know the meaning of. wink.gif If and when something on this car breaks, I have the choice of HKS, AEM, or whatever, pertaining to the part. 5This car is well styled, more proportional than the coupe celica, and faster than Gt's and St's. Not counting 3s swaps or anything, probably not, but if I had 2k, I'd do TT on this and then we'd see. Haha. The only thing this thing lacks in is gas mileage, and the fact that you have to use premium, due to the 10.1:1 compression ratio, but if I cared about that, I'd drive a honda. That's my opinion, and everything i want to say about it. I will keep you posted, and prove to the people that think otherwise; this is a car that has tons of potential, and the displacement is there, I will make this car a beast.

And I'm not hating on the Celica at all. Not even in the smallest bit. I love them ;D And I might even buy another one in the future (albeit hatchback) for cruising and gas mileage. biggrin.gif

1. Any celica
2.If its a toyota you can
3. so are minivans
4. Because we dont have anyone in japan and has molds of body parts and ships them to use for cheap? o wait...
5. Cause the celica has no curves

I know I shouldn't add fuel to this kid's fire, but not all Celicas are perfect wonderful cars. To disagree with your points 1 and 2, I have had many problems. Let's see 5 bad wheel bearings, 2 broken axles, a messed up throttle cable, and my tire just coming off my car while I was making a turn at 10 mph.... all this and I haven't even owned the car for 2 years. I honestly had less problems with my 21 year old CRX that had 250k miles. All old cars have some problem at one point or another. Nothing lasts forever.

To the OP, I like 3kgt's as well. I was considering getting one myself at one point. Good luck with the build and what not. Hope all goes well with the car.
