QUOTE (Andason @ Mar 5, 2004 - 8:46 PM)
Ok this is for sure. I can answer most questions, I let them know about the infamous Japanese hood latch problem, its fiberglass with a carbon fiber overlay.

....so, does this hood shoold fit a North american Celica Without modificattion?

Just want to be sure that is bolt-on...

...Be carefull with the California water blade; It's excellent if you wash your car in a closed place, but if you do it outside with a little wind, you can scrap your paint because some little thing come in the wind.

I have used this trick when have work in a carwash. It's do a great job, or destroy the paint...

..many Toyota Car from 1993 to 1998 take oil.

My ST have taken 1liter/850Km...
I rebuilt the motor... The ring of the piston was glue...
I think you should rebuild the motor OR try to change the ECR Valve( I not sure this the good name....but it's place on the top of the motor..)It's a little valve that should cost you 10-15$US to change

Mag d'origine.

Réparation à effectuer: Rien. tout est No 1.
Pourquoi?

How to check your engine oil:
1) Go on a plane ground
2) Do it before your first start of the day. So ,you should get the same read on the two side of your stick.
3) If you do it AFTER your first start, let your engine for 1 or 2 minute off. Then, take your reading. If you get 2 different read, the best one is the lower one. Some oil have "overflow" in your stick-tube, then make the higer reading.

The only important thing is this; if you see no oil, then put it one in.

...right, NOASSS can blow your motor.
But, thisd a big but, is less rought on your motor than a turbo, because you use the NOS when you need it;with a turbo, this always running, so, if you have hight compressure on it, you should blow identicly than a NOS kit...

TRy a 100hp more with a NOS is equal than put a turbo to give 100hp on a ST Model...

BOUM!

I will just give you my best advice;

If you don't know how to do and don't have the time to know, then buy it, or ask to a good friend to help you.

BUT

If you don't have so much money, never try to do anything performing and difficult on a car, specially if you know nothing; this should cost you a lot of money to learn how-to do it and repare your error.

Installing a Turbo is not so easy than change your tire...

"try doing a search. this same question has been asked countless times. "
you never said "Resolve". Only ask. So, you think about a good answer, but your not sure, at this point is equal to asked: "Where the bathroom?", and reply with "My girlfriend have asked for it. Search in the house!". This a futile and useless information.

But ,the link you put in your answer THIS a good answer! You know why? Because you done the search in first to be sure. You RESOLVE it. This is the line between putting a comment just for posting VS a good informational and usefull answer.

I close the subject, because this thread is about boosting a ST celica with a turbo. If others comments is about everithing else or are useless and without link with the principal subject, then go in the general discussion. That's it.

And thanx to others guy who help. The link and price are interesting!

yes , you need to remove the old plastic filter casing to get more space. Easy to do if you have two hand and a minimal skill with tools.

course 101 on mod with the current motors:
The first and second is the base modification to do. For the other, you can do it in any orde, depending of your budget.

first: Get more air in the motor(CAI(<100$), machining the throttle body(+- 300$)). this modif come more powerfull with other mod

Second: Expulse more air with a good velocity... (headers(500$ ?), Cat back, muffler...)

Third: tranny. Get a level 1 or 2 clutch. This give Hp, but not torque.

Fourth: Pulley, CAM. Give HP. (1000$ ??? ...)

Fifth: do a port polishing, change the piston for aluminium one... $$$

six: Install a fuel controler, or a fuel manager....

Seventh: Turbo

Some modification need other one to get the power. You should need a fuel manager soon as you get to much power, I think so...

Search on ebay if you want to learn about your car, this a good way to teach yourself about cost, faisability, and scrap....

The real reason is like K2 said;"salt eats the finish" and you need to repaint or sable it again and again..

It's true, many people have (try to) answered to this question, but many response contain only part of the answer. People answers half the question with some " I think so..." "try this... "Not sure".... "maybee"

I have many post on this forum about really important question who need good response. It's easy to said "Try the search button", but if the information is not completly there on one, easy understandable treads of the forum....

A good answer is like the top topic of the forum, with an all you need in one subject.

So, be carefull with your answer; a good forum is make with good question AND good answer. And people are not stupid; in 2003, a "Search button" is in a common use of internet, not a goodies...

my 2 cents
