The ALS components on a wrc are NOT functional so dont worry about killing the engine ![]() They are just there to meet with homologation specs when Toyota went rallying back in the old days. You can swap to a non wrc ecu but it's a waste of money IMO. Both ecu's send out the same amount of gas to the injectors. Toyota programmed them to run rich all of the times. If you want better fuel economy, you'll need an aftermarket ecu and a good tuner who can program it the right way. Thank That Helped Me Alot Because It's Alot Time For My Emission Test And I Didn't Want It To Sound Like An Rocket In There ![]() |

i wanted to know and i know it might be an stupid question but i have an 94 wrc 3sgte motor in my car now running on the original wrc ecu i wanted to know if i can switch my ecu to an non wrc ecu to see if that temporary shut off the ALS (anti-lag system) or not? because for my information the ALS (anti-lag system) will kill my turbo and engine faster, the only time i want to use the ALS (anti-lag system) is when im racing if i do take off ALS (anti-lag system) it will take to much time and i dont want that, if too much gas goes in the engine the engine will flood, oh one more question does the non wrc ecu send out lesser gas to the injectors too or not because i know the wrc ecu sends alot of gas to the injectors... like i said i know it's an dumb question but i wanted to know swaping out the ecu is easier than taking off ALS (anti-lag system) and replacing parts or buying some kinda of switch setup. |

remember you guys are talking about in Canada where it's easy to even import an GT-R 34 and im talking about in the states where there is DOT, EPA and NHTSA Certification involved in all cars coming into the states, so if we want to import to canada it will be easy to just pay some paper work and it's done, but if we want to import it into the state we have to go thru costoms, legal work, modification to usdm standards, and last but not least crash testing (oh by the way crash testing requires the person who is importing the car that he or she is buying to supply 2 more cars just for the test) so if im buying 1 for 10k already including shipping and customs paper work. i have to use another 20k to get two more just to do the test. not to mention the modification that needs to meet DOT, EPA, And NHTSA Standards which rings up to minimum 50k total. now if i have to wait till 2020 to import it, it will be easier but i dont have to do the crash test, Dot, and EPA Standards anymore i would just have to worry about getting it pass emissions, piece a cake. because the car would be consider an classic because it's 25+ years old... man after re-reading what i said importing one here is a pain in the @$$ unless it's an 25+ year car..... |
