This has been discussed many times in this fourm. It is usually the switch contacts in the console. You have to take the switch out. Disassemble it. Clean the contacts off (they usually have carbon). People have used cleaner and wire brushes and everything. I put some dielectric grease on the contacts. then reassemble the whole thing. Plug it back in. Test the switch, reassemble the console. It usually works really well.

carbon in inside the switch. I had to pull the switch out of the dash. they take the switch apart. You can do this carefully by using a flat head screwdriver and pulling the inside part of the switch out. Inside there are two rockers which are made of copper and have silver colored contacts. I cleaned all the contacts, but in a little di-electric grease and then put the whole thing back together.

try taking the switch apart and clean the contacts. This is a chronic problem with verts. I have to clean my switch contacts about every 3 months.

I haven't heard of the switch going bad, but in my vert I have had to pull the little side window switches several times to scrape off the carbon and put them back together. Maybe you might want to try that. Best of luck.

QUOTE (Imawakeyo @ Apr 21, 2010 - 12:10 AM) *
I recently purchased my 95 Convertible Celica GT not too long ago and did some minor fixes to it nothing big. It wasn't until the blizzard of 10' that I started seeing a puddle form in the rear passenger bottom floor whenever it rains hard. Now I wish that was the only problem but when I drive and it's raining, I can also hear rain sloshing around frown.gif
Apart from the puddle issue the rear driver side window completely broke off one day and I managed to get it up but it's slanted. Any idea how much that repair will cost me? Or how to even do it as I have no idea how to get to it.
I'll upload a pic of it tommorow.

It's all been done here by others. It is probably a regulator and track problem.
Here's the link

http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...ccmd2002+window

The drains are also probably plugged at the bottom. You can do a search for the drains, but it is a real PITA to get to the vert drains.

This sounds like a thread for Mythbusters. Has anyone ever thought of posing this questions to these guys? If not I may e-mail it to their website.

If you're not using the alarm, take the fuses out and see what that does. My Autopage alarm locks the doors once I start driving and then unlocks it when I stop and turn off the celi.

QUOTE (Ted95 @ Dec 14, 2009 - 11:05 PM) *

Do you hear the relay click on the driver side kick panel when you push the rear defrost button? Also you can put a multitester to the two connectors on the back window to see if they broke the defroster stripes on the back window. Also can disconnect the stripes (be really careful cause I broke one of the tabs off) and test to see if you get 8-12 volts to the back defroster stripes. If you break the connector or the stripes are cut then you are tough out of luck. Try this you tube link.

When I was wireing my alarm, I took the fuse block off on the driverside. There were relays on the backside of the fuse block. It may be one of those.

QUOTE (schmooot @ Dec 4, 2009 - 10:21 PM) *
it is in the drivers side kickpanel. According to my schematic though it is not inside a junction/relay block. The connector for the wires is but I believe the relay itself is not if I'm reading it correctly

When I push the rear defrost button on my celi, I hear the relay click from the L (driverside) kick panel/fuse area.

QUOTE (Agent21 @ Dec 3, 2009 - 1:38 PM) *
Yeah I got a bad feeling I am gonna have to test each relay and find it. Thanks.

Thanks for all the advice. I was looking at putting the oversize Alpine 6.75 speakers in the front, but was worried that I would lose too much bass by having smaller woofers. If I go with the focals will have to save up for those.

QUOTE (Galcobar @ Nov 19, 2009 - 1:56 AM) *
If you're looking for eight-inch woofers, consider Focal 210CA1 or Memphis Audio 15-MA8.

maybe toyota can make a sporty AWD in a prius platform.. body needs to be tweaked a lil bit, a performance engine and an AWD drivetrain.

Maybe with the talent which guys and gals have on this forum, someone could put a prius engine in a 6GC and instead of 30 MPG they could get like 50 MPG and go from 0-60 in like 12 (minutes) ha ha.

There are three bolts (10mm) that attach the front bumper skin to each of the front quarter panels. You have to loosen the wheel well liners and then get a 10mm deep socket into the front of the wheel well. the bolts face back towards the rear of the car. Don't have any pics, but I think there are multiple threads here which describe replacing the headlight assemblies. Hope this helps a little.

QUOTE (CastrolCelica @ Sep 29, 2009 - 9:23 PM) *
I'm trying to take off my 95 "smiley" bumper and running into some problems. I took off the 10ish bolts on the bottom, ancors on the inside of the mouth, the metal bar in the inside of the mouth that was attached with pins, and then the top trim and bolts that's under the front of the hood.

The top is loose, and so is the bottom.. but it feels attached in the very center, yet I don't see any bolts when i pull the bumper back from the top.

How do I take this off? Any detailed pictures and/or instructions would greatly help. Thanks!

Hi,

My convertible is missing the seal between the front window and quarter window on the passenger side. From reading this forum it seems one cannot buy this part, so if anyone has one forsale let me know!

Thanks,
Rod

I figured out it was the motor when I downloaded the electrical scheme. I had power to the front panel switch, I tested the switch and it gave 12v from Pin 1 to 3 and then pin 2 to 3 when I pressed the up and down and when I put the 12 volts to the motor circuit it didn't work. I haven't gotten the motor out yet, but once I get to the motor I will see if 12 volts is getting there, if it is then my motor is toast.

If one switch goes bad it could affect both quarters.

I cleaned the switch when my quarter window stopped and the quarter works perfect again.

The way to clean it is in the how to's somewhere.

My prayers go out to you and your family and especially Jim. When he gets well enough for cards let us know the physical address of the hospital. Cards always help if you are in a hospital for a long time. (I know, I work in one).

Just wondering if anyone out there has strong positive or negative opinions about car alarms? Ease of install, features, cost, cool factor. My vert didn't come with the factory VIP system, so I am looking to install a remote lock/unlock and alarm system.

Is the belt twisted? I had the belt twisted in my vert, I had to take the side panel off and carefully retract and extend the belt (about a 1/2" at a time) until I got to the twist, then it retracted fine.
