surely shocks/dampers only control the rate at which the displacment takes place, i.e the rate of displacement with respect to time(force x velocity). But springs control displacemt which is not relative to time, just a displacemtnt, i.e the force requuierd to displace the spring by say (x) will always be the same, i.e 200kg per mm.

now my car is not bouncy whcih suggests the shocks are not blown. If the springs did their job even without dampers the car should not bottom out as the maximum load should not exceed the maximium spring rate, it would simply be bouncy.

basically my car has been lowered, apparently its 40 but looks more like 60mm, anyway if i go over a fairly big bump or dip at 25mph+ it will give a nasty knock and feels like it has totally bottomed out, either the sump brace hits the floor or the springs have completely compressed.

Now the question is do you think my car needs new springs (which i think is the case as it is not a bouncy ride) or do you think i need new shocks?

Personally i think i need a new set of "correct springs" i susspect the wrong springs have been fitted, i.e the front has not the correct spring rate or they are old and fategued.

any comments appricaited cheers joe

i baught some bushing for the front sway bar/anti-roll bar but they are not split like the oem ones to make it easy to put on, does that mean i have to cut them myself or do i remove the bar and then slip them on from the end. Their are to lines on either side which look like they are their to cut along. Anyone ever experienced this before. Cheers joe

Dude, if you are talking on the rear, no matter u have super strut or macpherson its no difference.

Why u insist to find a st205 rear struts to mod to your st202?

Simply find any ST202 rear struts to replace yours

i can get hold of some ksport coilovers which are for an st205 and was tring to work out if they fit. and if not a way to make them fit. now i know the fronts fit but there is some ambigurity as to whether or not the rears do as this website clearly states that the st202 and st205 rear strut are the same.

is it possible to rebuild a front st205/202 superstrut, what i mean is can the shock be replaced without replacing the whole strut, i ask as im looking for replacement shocks and have found these

http://www.jdmperformance.co.uk/last_30_a....;carName=Celica

Kayaba (KYB) Excel-G Shock Absorber 331019 (Front Left)

is this the whole strut or just the shock which is then assembled to the strut?

Also anyone got any feedback on these shocks?

Hi, has anyone used negun auctions to buy anything from japan to be posted to Europe or america, most of the stuff is on japenese yahoo actions and i think negun processes it for you. I was wondering how smooth this process is and how the whole postage thing works? dont want to bid and win and then not be able to contact japanese retailers about postage/payment issues etc

cheers joe

just fyi, even non-superstrut springs will fit.

are you sure? manufacturers specify superstrut only springs including TRD so i would assume non-superstrut springs would not.

As title but what would happen and will they fit? i understand the st205 is heavier ans so the springs slightly stiffer but st202 springs are hard to come by and expensive!

All comments and discussions please

I'm currently looking for a set of lowering springs for my st202 superstrut, my car is currently lowered but bottoms out quite easily when there more than just me in the car!!! i assume its because the car is too low and the wrong springs have been put in and hoping the shocks are ok so i called fensport and they say they can get me a set from Blitz (Blitz sfs superflex).

http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/ProductItem-2570.aspx

Anyone got any opinions on these or any alternatives bearing in mind my car is an st202 fwd superstrut.

cheers joe
