i found out this morning that the crank position sensor can be easily removed from the old engine by simply unbolting it. this still doesn't help much because i also found out that the slot in which the sensor rests in is part of the oil pump housing. so that means i would have to swap the whole oil pump housings which probably means taking out the engine again. i probably could get this all done but my apartment complex has band residents from doing any car maintenance in the complex and if caught will result in a $100 fee everytime seen working on a car in the complex.

i looked at the sensor n where it sits in it seems that the magnet at the end of the wire signals from detecting the movement of the crank. i was thinking of just rigging it to operate off of some of metal piece that moves simultaneously w' the crankshaft. is this really possible or am i just f*****?

what am i do to about the crank position sensor on an obd1 block to obd2 wire system?

i completed the mechanical swap of a 7afe from a 93 corolla into my 97 st (my original engine basically died so i swapped w' a similar engine). i started connecting wires and hoses back and was left w' 1 wire not connected which i found to be the sensor for the crank position, which i believe is resulting in the engine not getting fuel and not running. i've been trying to do as much research as possible but i am still unclear on what to do....

i have a manual and u were right. it was stuck on the input shaft.... now i'm having the reverse problem. i can't get the new block connected flush w' the tranny. the input shaft seems to be getting caught w' the clutch but on the wrong angle but for 3 hours of different angles there has been no progress

when swapping the engine in an ST does the tranny have to come out too?

my problem: I'm trying to preplace my st engine and EVERYTHING is detached but the block is got coming apart from the tranny all the way. there's gap all around the block n tranny to the point where i can see the flywheel but that's where it stops. n that's where i am stuck.

i just found one on craigslist so maybe by next week all will be good. no shops for me, i w'd do the swap myself with my roommate cuz i know how shops price like crazy for labor. i've already swapped a tranny on my old civic with my paps so with some careful measures i'm confident i'll be able to do swap.

hey guys bad news for me.........

i'm pretty sure the engine in my ST is toast. the was an oil leak n it ran out of oil. i was able to replace the connecting rod bearings on cylinders 1 & 2 but i was unable to get to 3 & 4. the engine cranks up now but is burning oil like crazy. i want to swap the engine for just about anything that runs. does anyone know of a cheap place that I can pick up engine @?

There is an annual MR2 meet in Orlando via FLMR2s.com and the meet gets bigger and bigger each year. This would be a nice place for a gathering and we would be welcomed into the fold. If we do have a meet in February, we can discuss attending this one since it is a 3 day (drag-meet-auto-x) event and we would not have to worry about planning it.

I am really most interested in just 6gc's for now..... not sure if anyone else feels the same way?

I dont think there is any suitable place for a tampa meet (that i know of) and Orlando has been decided as central to all in FL.

QUOTE (SwissFerdi @ Nov 26, 2009 - 1:28 PM) *
Sweet, another one! So what's the attendance now, four? And have we decided on a meet spot already?

Weren't we decided on Wekiwa? We are never gonna get anywhere with this, are we? rolleyes.gif frown.gif kindasad.gif

MAYBE its my fault. I asked for suggestions and opinions, and well, all i got was opinions and suggestions.

SO lets try this.

my bad i meant an orlando meet is good w' me
