Hi there,
I am looking for another car to play with as I just finished rebuilding and selling a 1991 mr2. I would love to get my hands on another 6g but I dont want to spend a crapload of money. If anyone has a car with a blown engine/wrecked/etc. celica they are looking to get rid of email me.
thanks
matt

I have seen people install some type of heatshielding between the intercooler and the valve cover. Also, installing a puller fan on top of the intercooler would help as well. While it is true that it doesnt draw as much cool air, it is also alot shorter distance so the air leaving the intercooler doesnt have time to heat up. Dont get me wrong, I would prefer a front mount as well, but a top mount will do the job

You can get a decently sized spearco intercooler off ebay right now for under 400 shipped. You will probably want to stay away from a long, thin intercooler as it isnt as generally very efficient. You would be best asking eric(the guy who started this thread). He is an engineer and im sure he could recommend something.

Yeah,
Even though im not a big fan of most hondas(nothing against them just so many), they are relatively easy to make quick. I have a ford probe gt right now, and even though it is a heavy car, it is still pretty quick stock. Celicas are still my first love though!

hey there,
Had both 18 x 7.5(trm typhoon), and 18 x 8(alt xfiles) with ground controls fully dropped(i would estimate right around 2.5 inches), and never rubbed even with people in the rear. The main thing to watch is the offset of the wheel. If you go to www.tirerack.com you can search for wheels by car and if you call them they will give you the correct offset as well.
hope that helps
matt
p.s. i have had 19s mounted as well(axis hagens), and it didnt rub either!

matt
p.s. If you know anyone interested a chameleon 93 probe gt let me know. I ended up trading my old probe for this one, and now I just bought another 6th gen, so the probe will be sitting

Just wanted to let you know there is a nice set of black leather seats from a 99 I believe at a junkyard up here. If youd like I can see how much they want for them. They were in perfect condition and the place is pretty cheap.
just let me know

I had ground controls on my car. If you look at my pics I had the front all the way down but I didnt grind off the original spring mounting cup which wouldve dropped it more. I had it with stock struts at first and it was a decent ride considering I had almost no suspension travel. I had trimmed bumpstops and never hit them unless I hit a large hole or bump. I have had dropzone coilovers on my ford probe and they worked really well. What you want to look for it the spring rate on the coilovers. My dropzones were the same as the ground controls for the probe at least.
hope that helps

hey there,
Right now the only pic I have is of the front lip. I am picking the car up this week, and will snap some pics for everyone there. I cant vouch for fitment as I havent seen it yet but it is new and unmounted.

Yeah,
the 96 turns wont fit the factory bumper without some major cutting. You can make your own clears. What I did with my 94 was take the factory signal out, and fabricate a small turn signal/opening kinda like what they sell for the miatas(have a pic if it helps to explain it). For my side markers(since they werent making clears in 98), I used the clear rear bumper sidemarkers from a 92-96 prelude/94-97 accord(I believe it was those year accords). I had to trim the mounting point just a tiny bit, but it fit fine, and even used the factory gasket(you can see pics of those on the celica.net website as well).
let us know what you decide

im assuming your car is a 5 spd? You could try feathering the clutch some, lowering tire pressure(as you said). Thats what I would recommend to start. I have a slow car though, lol, so I dont do a whole lot of drag racing.

hows it goin man,
Personally I dont think the tan/black combo like that will look all that great, but as long as its something you really want I wouldnt be to worried about it. If you need any interior parts to play with(i.e. extras), I still have alot of interior stuff out of my 94 I could donate to the "make over jareds interior" fund smile.gif
let me know

No problem,
Thats great to hear. Im sure it will turn out great! If you can, post some pics of the swap so everyone here can see the quality of your work. One nice thing about a lighter fwd car. Even a mildly modified 3s swap will still be a really quick car.
regards

I spent 9000 for the car(94 st),
5000 on paint and bodywork
1600 for wheels/tires
600 for chrome plating(engine parts and suspension parts)
1200 for interior
3000 for stereo(clarion autopc/kicker zr-1000 amp/zx460 amp/3 solobaric 12s)
500 for intake/header/exhaust
I worked at an import shop at the time, so I got alot of my stuff pretty cheap. I would blow 80% of every paycheck on the car as well. It was fun but im a little older now and have other priorities(rent/insurance/girfriend). Ive already posted a link to the pics on another thread, but here it is again if youd like to see it. Its nothing too crazy, but I liked it, and it was nice having something other than a honda(not knocking hondas, there are just soooo many of them modded)

Is your car a 5spd or an automatic?
I ran my 94 st automatic in may of 2000 and ran a 16.8 on 18s. Do you know what the altitude of the track is(how high above sea level?). that can affect quarter mile times. Were you losing traction at all?

Mr. Hux,
How are you? I recognize you from the mr2 boards. I have seen your work with the 4age swap in the celica as well and am thoroughly impressed. I have some links to pics of the intercooler piping in the celica, let me see if I can find it for you.

the last one goes through the process of installing the intercooler
hope that helps
matt
p.s. for anyone that doesnt know Mr. Hux has done some amazing things with both generations of mr2's as well as some in the celica world. Plus he makes some amazing parts. Are you doing a 3s swap into a celica?
