Drilling and slotting brake rotors is really a fools game in this day and age. At a time when brake pads off-gassed, holes through the rotor were a way to ensure proper contact. Back when brake pads glazed due to high heat, slots would scrape the glazing and restore a proper friction surface. Now neither are necessary, courtesy of modern pad formulations which prevent off-gassing, and track/race pads which do not glaze at high heat. On the other hand, drilling holes or cutting slots in the rotor weakens the metal's crystalline structure. Porsche casts its rotors with holes, to avoid compromising the rotor's integrity and help prevent cracking. Reducing the surface area of the rotor reduces the ability to transfer heat from pad/caliper to rotor. Reducing the rotor's mass means it can absorb (and therefore dissipate) less heat. Since the entire point of the braking system is to transform kinetic energy into thermal energy and disperse that energy into the air, that means less braking capability overall. Really good thread on the issue: http://www.celicatech.com/forums/showthrea...ors-quot-Thread wow. that really answers my question. thanks doc! |

Drilled or slotted or drilled and slotted? and whats this stuff about being about being silver or zinc finish? does it matter, i just want enhanced braking power and better handling. Any pointers?? |

Buy a 7th gen short shifter, I have it in my car and so do a lot of other members here, works perfectly fine. Now are you talking 7g celica (eg. 2001) oem? Stock? Or an after market for the 7g?? I read on Twm performance page that the whole thing makes A difference. As in angles in the shifter and the new bearings And everrything. |

You guys need to read this: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=28825 As for the mr2 engine/harness... you are going to make your swap harder by going with these. The wiring harness will be completely different and need to be sent out to someone to be rewired. Also there are alot of small differences in the placement of things like the alternator that will make your swap difficult. Your best bet for success is to start out with a GT car, and use an st205 3sgte. This will be the easiest swap, with the least wiring and headaches. Thanks for the link, very informative. So when in call looking for a font clip, What do I ask them, 95 gt4 front clip please? |

hey all, my name is robert, and i think it would be cool if 6G celica owners met up, swaped some tips and just straight up have a meet and show off your ride, whether its a project ride, looking sloppy like mine, or all fast n furious n hooked up. Know what i mean. I have seen some meets by where i live in some parking lots at grocery stores with what looks liike Honda guys (boo), but i havent seen toy or celica meets. Are there any in the SGV or south gate/ bell gardens, CA area? if so hit me up with a message here, or my email toometal4myowngood@yahoo.com. Hope to see some rides, soon. |

if someone can point me in the right direction, that would be great. I seen some real, cool looking lights on these cars, and i look on ebay, and amazon and i just cant find them there. Im looking for just simply red tail lights, with red blinkers, and some projector style type head lights. is there any place i can go to find these types of items in Los Angeles? or anyone got a web site i can check out? |

I have a 93 GT, and I love it to death. So I would like to pimp it out, just a little bit. I'm not the type of guy who craves attention to my car. I just want to look at it and be like, "wow, cool car. . . . " I saw another car on the freeway a few weeks ago, and It looked like the same model or year as my car. He had all red, with exception to the backup lights, tail lights. They have the same stock style, except the turning lights are not yellow, they are red. Thats what im looking for, and some cool head lamps too. Does anyone know where i can buy these styles of lamps??? Would appreciate it. Thanks. |

id say intake its the simplest wont add much power but id say buy a cheap intake off eBay than buy a better filter such as a fujita than find some headers on ebay than go to an exhaust shop and have the pipping all done up from the header back..IE: great extra power but will cost around 250-300 coolness man! |

i can get the trans for cheap, the mounts are cheap too i believe. but the wire harness might be my biggest (maybe expensive) obstacle. plus the ecu. . . can i use or add an after market component to my already existing one??? a buddy told me, something about an attachment that goes with my ecu just to control the air and fuel mix. . . is this true??? i thought i would find most of my solutions at a junk, or salvage yard of something, what do you think? 2.2 anyone? |

Sup fellow 6G enthusiests, i need help. My project is this: I have a 94 st and I would love to fix it. My car has tons of milage, dents and dings and scratches all over the place and even a knocking sound that seems to come from the top of the engine. I dont really mind the blemishes, but the knocking sound is what drives me crazy. Anyways, what i want to do is swap my old engine out, for this other one i got from my old job when i was a parts delivery guy. Now i have a 5s-fe sitting on blocks, and i want to give it a home under my hood. Can anyone tell me what, if anything, i can carry over from my 1.8 to my 2.2 (i.e.- transmission?)? plus im on a budget.. . . any tips, advise, or info would be appreciated. Thanks Fellas! |
