Agreed. Thanks. Ill stick to bolt on's for a decent DD, i will buy another car later down the road, the only thing i really care about is getting from point A to point B. i might consider the 3s later down the road after i buy another car, but i wonder how hard it would be to throw in a 3s into a ST, i heard the mounts are different for the motor??, i have no clue about the tranny. Thanks for all the responses, and to clear something up, someone posted a reply that i tried getting 300hp in 3 days? i think they read it wrong, or i may have explained it wrong, but what i meant was i would have 3 day intervals of getting the performance mods done, i would have the weekend plus a day if i needed to take off work, but thats the most i would be able to due, so for example, i would have a max 3 days to do one mod then wait till the next weekend and have another 3 days to do another mod. And yea i know it would be hard to make a 300hp car reliable, i know its defiantly possible, but the smartest way is what you guys suggested, which is to buy another car then do some mods to this one. The whole reason for this post was to see what was the best route to take for an ST owner to make the most amount of power he could and the least cost effective without making the car extremely probable to breaking down. Thanks again for all of the responses! |

Thanks! I like the very detailed list! and i am considering forced induction, but i dont think i will get the power i want out of it, i am eventually looking to get up to 300hp, do you think turbo is the way to get there? or would i have to do a motor swap to get that kind of potential? |

I got a 94 ST, now first off i do want to add that its my daily driver, i could take the max 3 days at a time to do a long build. Now i got nothing done to this thing, and im dieing to make some power out of it!, ill defiantly turbo, but maybe i should consider other options?? im not sure, im here to find the best way to squeeze the most out of the ST without emptying out my pockets and doing mods that could risk having my car down for weeks at a time. Im trying to prevent any unexpected down times. My budget in this build that i wont mind doing is probably around 2k, is there a way to make power out of the ST with 2k of cash?? like i said keep in mind this is my daily driver and needs to drive everyday to work and back, so i want to stay out of mods that could easily go wrong. Thanks! I probably posted in the wrong section lol, if so can a admin move my post to the appropriate forums? Thanks P.S. Tired of Normal sedan's messing with me and putting my car to shame. |

Hey thanks, and yea i compress them before i undid the bolt for the strut, and i had the spring compressed when installing it back in, i guess we didn't pay much attention to the groove lining on the top, this was my first time installing springs, so it was a learning experience, thanks for the reply! and as far as what i was having problems with, yes the spring does need to be turned a certain way, when looking at the strut, there is a dimpal or a small indentation to where the end of the spring should be placed at, the reason for this, is so that the spring wont turn when pressure is released from the spring, very unlike but its just a feature they threw in there, by the way all of this information is just what i know from research, if im wrong then please inform me, its always good to know the right details lol. But hey thanks again for the reply!!!! And by the way, what spring compressor are you using?? i used a pretty big one and was hard trying to get the spring to compress with the limited room i had. |

I have a 1994 ST model Celica. I replaced my 2 front struts for matience, and thank god i did, both of the front struts were bad. they did not come back up when being pressed down. Anyways, my problem is, is that when i replaced my struts and went out for a test drive and came back, i noticed the coil springs were not sitting right. on one side the top isnt in the groove and the bottom is bearly hanging over the edge, for some reason the springs are not sitting right i tried everything to get them in the groove but they are not wanting to go in, so i was wondering if the springs have to be turned or facing a certain way? i know i got the springs right side up, they are variable rate springs so i made sure to have them the right way. but does anyone know if the springs have to be turned or facing a certain way??? the springs deffinatly dont look right, and i would hate to drive over a bump then have my car ride weird. |

did you change the pump seal? if its comming out where you say it is it should either be the pump seal or the input shaft seal that you replaced, so it shouldnt be the intput. check the pump seal. Hey thanks for your suggestion! i was gonna check that but its weird i set my torque converter down and it got all wet from something, so i wiped it off and then a couple minutes after it was wet with transmission fluid again, its weird but its leaking, im thinking this is my problem, ima go to the junk yard and pull one. ill let everyone know if that ends up being the problem or not. Thanks everyone! |

Hey, everyone i got a bit of a situation here, i have a 1994 ST with the 7afe motor and automatic transmission, anyways when i was driving the car out of no where the car started slipping into neutral so i decided to pull over to check stuff out, luckily i did, the car was "pouring" out transmission fluid and yes i did make sure it was transmission fluid not motor oil. and seriously it looked like i was taking a quart of tranny oil and just pouring it out on the ground, it was that bad not exaggeration either, i wish i was though ![]() Overview of it. ![]() I was told this is a breather hole, and this is where the fluid comes out at. ![]() This is the new input shaft seal i replaced. ![]() |

yea i know that i would have to have some knowledge about it and how to do swaps. i wouldn't post something randomly if i didn't know what i was doing. but yea thanks for the start and i know most swaps are different and i was just looking for a general outline not something so detailed out that an idiot can do it. the reading part is exactly what im trying to do. if i found a general outline on the swap i would be able to get a better understanding on my shopping list and something to at least go by and i would learn all the things i would encounter. So this is why i posted so i can get some good information if any one had it. i haven't seen anyone that did a walk through for it. they just said it wasn't that bad. |

Sorry about the ticket a cop checked mine to but lucky i passed. i Also have a little patch not tinted in the back so when its night time its not all that bad looking out the windows even though you could just roll down your side windows and look out your mirrors but o well it also gives me an excuse for cops not to ticket me, its legal but if a cop were to try something i could say i can see perfectly out the un tinted spot. sorry my image wont post for some reason but heres the link to my celica http://6gc.net/photo/member/12767/2 |

Hey why don't you consider putting in a sun roof i think its better to have a sun roof then a roof scoop. A roof scoop would be really cool to have but the sun roof would add a little more style to both the interior and exterior. but it all depends on what kinda look you are trying to go for. Obviously if your trying to go for the rally look then scoop all the way. |
