Thanks for all the input guys. Here's what I ended up doing. Last Thursday my roommate and I went out to jump my car. We had both cars turned off and when we connected the jumper cables, they gave a little spark and my alarm resetted. Without the ignitions on or anything, that little connection was enough to reset the alarm. I was then able to start my car and turn the alarm off with the valet switch. The alarm has been "off" ever since then and everything has worked perfectly. So from what I can gather, the alarm wasn't draining the battery, there was just a problem with the alarm constantly being on and cutting the ignition/power. So somewhere there's a short in my alarm - it's either time for a new one or I'll leave the valet swith on perminately. Cya later.

QUOTE (Coomer @ Sep 2, 2004 - 4:36 PM)
So you can jump-start the car meaning you can start it with a key and jumper cables hooked up to the car's battery? And when you turn off the car, the alarm siren goes off until the battery dies?

What if you drive the car for a while and let the alternator charge the battery...then if you turn off the car and try to start it 15 seconds later or so, will it start?

Yes and yes to the first questions. If I drive around to let the alternator charge, it dies right after I turn things off. I also had the radio and other electronics shut off during driving after it was started too, then they came back on after about 5 seconds and when the radio came back, the CD, clock and settings were exactly where they were before things shut off.......

So it seems my car alarm is stuck "on" and it's the type that cuts the ignition and battery when its going. I can't seem to figure out what to do. I can jump my car but the second I stop and turn it off, it completely shuts off and the alarm begins. It just goes and goes until the battery is dead...

Things I've tried:

- Valet switch...doesn't even seem to work correctly anymore
- Keyless remote...won't shut the alarm off anymore
- Starting car...the ignition is cut by the alarm going off

I haven't replaced my remote battery or my car's battery...those two are coming next. But really my only idea is to completely cut the power to the alarm all together....how can I do that???? Any other ideas??? Thanks everyone!

This came from the brochure that Supersprynt posted a few days ago. The blue color option on the far right looks like the Perfect Blue color. Now you have to either zoom in or enlarge the pic to see the wording clearly......but it looks to me that the code is 6L5 not 8L5.

QUOTE (uzthedentist @ Jul 18, 2004 - 5:27 PM)
they brought the 185 in and none of you guys bought it!! why then would they bring in the 205?? its a loss maker, in every other country wrc is quite famous, so they knew it would sell.

You're right, but I was 9 when the All-Trac came out and love the 6th Gen style way much more than the 5th...but yeah, US people not buying obviously had to do with not bringing the GT4 over.

What kills me is how it's a trend with these boxy/semi SUV/hatch-back-whatever cars that Toyota seems to be gearing towards...when there's the larger trend of all-wheel drive turbo cars (WRX, Lancer, etc). Where does the All-Trac and GT4 fit in??? Right with that trend. Hands down Toyota was stupid to not bring the GT4 to the US because they would have been the trend setter before Subaru and Mitsubishi came along. Now they won't even have a sporty car in their line at all! Toyota's loss for being stupid. I'm glad I'll own a unique car now.

Hey that looks great! I've always wondered how gauges would look right there. Did you use a DIN panel that was specific for gauges? I've seen those before...or did you do everything from scratch? Good job regardless.

Man, I really hope that fixes the problem Coomer, sounds like a lot of work. Let us know how it goes.

Hey Coomer, I'm curious how you're going to test the throwout bearing and what happens if in fact it's the culprit. Other than the obvious "replace it" ... Thanks!

Woah! I get that exact sound. Chattering when idling, but if I push in my clutch it goes away and it doesn't seem to be constant. Thought it was just engine chatter (I have 166,000 miles). I had my clutch replaced a year and a half ago, I wouldn't think it'd be going bad already. Sorry that doesn't solve the problem Coomer, just that I've got the same thing.

Edit: No chattering while accelerating or cruising, its strictly when idling...

or just have all the people that have doen the swap take pics and email them to him.. but then he might just those aren't 3sgte engines..

Seriously...look how many people have done the swap around here. 7A, 5S, either way there's plenty of proof that it can be done. He also thought it was an inline-6 so he either was talking about fitting the 6 wasn't possible or doesn't know what he's talking about.......

That looks so awesome! I was wondering if there was any way you could find a part # for it? I see some websites listing the TRD brace, but you never know if they're selling just the GT stock brace or what. Thanks!

Yeah that Celi isn't that bad. Some cars on that site are pretty crazy though. The funniest part of all would definately be the guys who are pointing at the cars.

I don't post much, but I read and am entertained by this site religiously on a daily basis. Personally, this site is incredible. Questions can be easily answered, most people are friendly and cool and know tons of information. I've both bought and sold stuff to people I've met in the forums - the whole concept is amazing. A couple things I've picked up on that kinda bother me are:

1. Reposts. Please read the stickys in each forum. People post a lot of the same question and a good majority of them can be answered in the stickys or in the databases.

2. Newbies and how they're treated. We all had to be one at one point! Most of #1 comes from new people and the way that they're answered with trite one-liners, ie "learn how to use the search function" really gets old. Understand that people aren't as well versed with the etiquette or abilities of the site when they're new...it happens, don't jump all over people for making a mistake.

3. "Photochopping." For God's sake! Quit telling people that their stuff is photoshopped. I can't count how many times somebody posts pics of something cool they've done or found and then their post gets all ripped to shreds with people attempting to figure out if its real or not.

4. I was waiting for someone to bring up the female situation. I also noticed most new females who come to the site aren't greeted very nicely. Yeah most of us are guys (my guess is just about everyone is 23 and below or so) and we all know how we can get. But yeah, most of the time a girl joins or posts a topic or a pic is posted of a girlfriend or a meet with a girl happening to be in a photo etc. the topic gets kinda out of control.

5. We can't hear each other. You've got to take just about everything with a grain of salt. We can't hear how people are saying things or what mood they're in when they type something. I'm extremely sarcastic, but that's way hard to pick up in just typing. It helps with escalating problems to not retaliate, just move on...or better yet, if you think you might be posting something hostile...maybe refrain???

Anyway, I agree we need some cleanup around here, hope those can help a bit. For the most part though, I tip my hat to Coomer for the awesome Celica community he and other's have created. Keep up the good work.

Cool topic! I have a Tamiya remote control Castrol GT-4. Its a Tamiya kit and I actually put together both the Castrol Supra and Castrol Celica bodies. I'll take pics when I get home later tonight.

I have to agree, I don't really like the euro tails, simply because they've been waaaaaaaaaay overdone. Its like, every car can get em basically. I've even seen them on mini-vans. But those look pretty unique and match the Celica's curves really nicely.

I'm curious about the plate. It looks really thin. Maybe it goes over the plate and only the #'s are revealed in the thin strip?

I think its RHD, if so it might have the thin European plates...

From that ad pic, it looks to me like a Coupe with a two post spoiler. It probably is an ST because it doesn't have fog lights. Those are just my guesses from the one pic, but if they're right, that price might be a little high...so I'd definately try to talk it down.

Edit: didn't mean to sound negative...thats a cool color and would be a great car either way.
