check your grounds, and the wiring, couuld have finally came disconnected to what you wired it. Also if your running it all on the cig connector, you might have blown that fuse. Loose connection? Since they faintly glow at times Im inclined to believe that there is a poor connection somewhere in there. thats what i was thinking or a ground that is loose, maybe every now and then they work but it seems likely there is a bad connection. If that's the case it doesn't have anything to do with the wiring I did. The dome (which does what I described there) was a simple bulb swap. Nothing stupid or silly about it. |

Unlikely - everything I installed works just fine, and the fuse isn't blown to the cig lighter because she still works fine (charge my phone/gps every day in her) The wiring should be pretty solid, I did wiring on aircraft for a few years, I think I've got it down ![]() |

Sorry i have to ask did you check your fuses? I think most of them run off the same fuse. I checked all of the fuses, Dome is on its own, I know that for sure, and from what I saw nothing in the box under the hood or the one under my dash had anything blown. I mean, it could be the proprietary toyoto multi-fuse things, but I can't see in them to check them, nor do I even know which one is for what. What fuse do you think it might be? |

Nothing is coming off the dome, courtesy, or trunk lights. Everything is off the cig lighter, and I've had no problems with them. |

So I am in a bit of a pickle with my 6gc. Back in highschool I changed out some of the lighting for LEDs, added footwells, thought I was cool, yada yada. Somewhere along the line I must have messed up pretty damn good, because right now I don't have courtesy lights, a trunk light, the clock, and my dome will randomly display a faint glow from the LED I tossed in there, but that happens infrequently. I checked the fuses for the dome and trunk and it all appears to be fine. I've even replaced them just in case. I've also checked the actual bulbs/LEDs and replaced them with ones I knew to be working and am not getting anything. Checked with a multimeter and am getting no voltage or amperage across the terminals. For what it's worth. Climate Control unit is working fine, cig lighter is working fine, dashboard is working fine, head/tail/turns are working fine. Its just the courtesy, trunk, dome, and clock that are out. ![]() Anyone have any ideas? I would love to get my old girl back in tip-top shape. Thanks! |

Check the fuses, especially the ones under the hood - but to me it sounds like you might have blown something more important. I had a similar problem when wiring my vent lights, I lost my radio as well as my dome light and door lights. My advice is take it into a radio/electronics place that does car stereo installations. It might cost you $100 or so, but they should be able to fix the problem. Good luck. |

I did consider that, but wasn't sure about where to find a constant 12V source behind the speaker. All of my audio equipment is stock right now save for the radio, and I had planned on putting in new speakers anyway, but if just adding some bendable strips would be easier then hell point me in the right direction. Thanks for the tip. |

I've got rear flaps for mine. Gunna install them next week because I have off. They didn't come with any kind of adapters though, and the local autozone or hardware store don't have anything - so this is gunna be a feat of engineering to get them on to be honest. I didn't even think to put any on the front because of the rocket side panels, if its not an issue then I will have to look into it. |

Will do guys, thanks for the interest. It will happen later this coming week after the 4th. I am between Summer I and Summer II sessions and just about done with Summer I finals, so I'll have the time. tbh - I tried an acrylic paint that I had lying around at first, but that didn't work too well (didn't let enough light through) so I removed it. Currently it is literally just red sharpie (but that'll be our little secret). Works fantastically surprisingly enough and lets just enough light through. |

Excellent, thanks for the tip Jumpiin, I'll have to check it out. Never could find anything online really :-/ I don't fancy myself much of an audio guy, but from what I've read, swapping speakers doesn't seem too terribly difficult, is it? I don't feel like paying some palefaced kid from BBY to do the install, nor take it to the guys who did my radio (they don't seem to like me much for some reason haha) |

I've been talking a lot about it, but have failed to show you guys anything. My apologies. I'll catalog and keep updates to my interior work, as well as take feedback, suggestions, and criticism here. ![]() The whole thing (minus radio lights - took this photo when it was still not working, and dome light) ![]() ![]() Gauges - Painted needles on the right to test out how they would look before redoing all of them. Replaced green turn signals w/ red plastic. Clear White LED's behind for the gauges. Not Lit ![]() Lit ![]() From the drivers' seat ![]() All in all I am pretty pleased so far. I have run into some issues, but save for the radio failure - nothing catastrophic. I've got LEDs in the center console vents (goes to a switch I built into the center console - not shown in any of the pictures), in the coin collector next to the cigg lighter. Took the ugly green casing off of the cigg lighter bulb to make it white. White LEDs behind the gauges, red painted needles, red turn signals, and cathode ray tubes in the footwells (goes to a switch under the steering wheel). I have the overhead light replaced with a red bulb, but its blown atm. My next projects (in no particular order)
If anyone has any suggestions or tips for where I can get lighted speakers at a decent price, I would really appreciate it. Also - I haven't looked at a schematic for the door lights just yet, but I may just put another bulb in their so I don't muck with the existing circuit anymore. Suggestions there would help too. So what do ya think? |

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to update you guys. I got my baby back this afternoon when I got back from class. They charged me like $90 to fix it. Based off of the printout they gave as a receipt I blew something with my interior lighting mods, and they had to replace a connector and run a new wire. Whatever, I have my radio/ipod back and it wasn't too terrible. They told me that the lights not working I would have to take it to the dealer or a mechanic and get a new ECM/ECU. (this part still strikes me as odd considering a good majority of my other lights are working fine, just not my door courtesy, dome, or trunk ones.) Regardless, that will be my next fix I suppose. As of right now I've disconnected my vent lights. If they were in fact the culprit, then I will need to redo the connections a little better. I feel like maybe I had a ground-out somewhere along the lines (I was using banana jacks behind the center console to do the majority of the connections w/ a 2x20 ga. shielded twisted pair running to the LEDS, switch, and cigg lighter. I'll figure out a better way to insulate them next time around I suppose, but like I said, for now I'm just happy to have music again. |

Heres a pic of what your looking for .. ![]() These are actually JDM projectors, but I'd imagine the normal headlights are the same or at least similar, It should give you an idea what the adjustment screws look like. Oh, sonuva... I kept cutting my knuckles on those guys when installing new 9006s last week, Didn't realize those were the screws, fantastic. Thanks so much Dyran. That was a huge help. And thanks for the words of wisdom everyone. ![]() |

I am probably going to treat myself to an FT86 (providing it isn't branded Scion) after grad school as a graduation present to myself, assuming it is out around 2012. I do plan on picking up a 7gc though, maybe not so much as another DD, but as a project. A nice white or light silver one, do the interior in blue, dress it up a bit. All of this in mind however, I have no plans on getting rid of my 6gc anytime soon. My baby's a '97 AT200 and has only like 130K on her. There is no reason for me to get rid of her anytime soon. ![]() |

Hey all, I don't have the cash on hand right now to get projectors for my 6g DD, despite really badly wanting to, but am having visibility issues when driving at night, especially in rain. I replaced the bulbs with some nicer, brighter ones off of Autolumination, as well as some nicer bright yellow H3's in my fogs. Though they are a cleaner, brighter white, they are still only hitting the ground like 10 yards ahead of me. I've heard that they can be realigned to pop up a little further, but haven't been able to find any good tutorials online. I'm having trouble locating the screws for the adjustment and how to access them. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks guys. |

Well according to the guy who did my radio install I need to take it to a mechanic or a dealership to get the ECM/ECU put back in, that is why I don't have lights. Evidently there was a wrong size fuse in one of the ports... I don't recall ever putting anything that wasn't the known size in there, but ok... balls. Any idea how much this is going to run me? Ebay has em goin for a few hundred dollars. Also - if this is the culprit, is the ECU swap something I can do on my own? Or is it overly complicated and I should have a mechanic take care of it? Also - does that even make sense considering the only lights that are out are the overhead, trunk, and courtesy door lights? |

* Dropped new LED 194s into my license plate bulbs, the old ones were too dim. * Replaced my gauge 194s with white LEDs, Painted the needles on my engine temp and gas level gauges red, and took out the disgusting green turn signal lights in my dash and replaced them with red ones I just cut out of plastic. She looks good. |

Haha, no worries. FFXI I am guessing? I am the second owner of the car. Bought it from my cousin. I am certain though that he did no work on it whatsoever. I'm not sure where I would have hit a ground out, but I'll make sure I have all the connectors pushed in proper again. I'm honestly debating taking it to the guys that did my radio install and telling them to fix it. It was working fine after I did my work on it, all of the other stuff seemed to crap out unrelated to my stuff. |

Sounds like an alignment issue to me. I had a similar problem a few years back. Anytime I hit 70 MPH or higher my wheel would start twitching and shaking, but it stopped when I braked. I had my tires rotated and had my alignment done and it fixed the problem in a jiff. Hope that helps! |

Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster here, let me just start by saying you all are great. I've got a ST205, and she's my baby. I've been doing a lot of interior lighting modifications, footwell tubes, LED dash, LEDs behind my vents, etc, and everything has been great until recently. All of the sudden, I turned on my car the other week and realized that I did not have a working radio, clock, overhead light, nor the courtesy lights on the doors nor the trunk light. Everything else was working fine, all the extra lights I put in were working fine, the cigarette lighter was working fine, headlights, taillights, gauges, etc. I replaced several of the fuses that could have been the culprit, nothing was blown, but I still had no luck. I replaced the dimmer switch (which from what I read online and saw in the wiring diagrams could have been culpable), still no luck Can any of you guys help me out here? I checked out the wiring diagrams in my two manuals for the car and I cannot seem to trace out the problem that would isolate just those problems while leaving everything else, namely the cigg lighter really. Thanks in advance! |
