Ok another question i have about fixing up my 7afe is this: I found most the HP internals as far as the bottom end is concerned but what about the top end. I looked into the 4age head swap but that seemed like a bunch of crap. Changing to 4a pistons and all that other mess. The "G" head is toyotas performance head right. Couldnt i just make my "F" head a performance head? I mean whats the real big difference between the heads. Wouldnt it be easier to rebuild the head i have with some performance parts like valve springs and lifters and stuff (if any are availabe for the 7a). Then have bigger cams or have my existing cams shaved and then do a port and polish. Never really worked with heads much so this is not my forte. Lemme know what you guyz think....

Ok I am wanting to hop up the 7afe in my 94 ST and i have found some good deals on engine internals and turbos and stuff but im not sure what to do about the tranny. Im not trying to get track times out of the car or anything. This is still going to be a daily driven car....im just trying to make if fun to drive and put a lil meat to the motor. The problem im facing is that the stock tranny i have is weak on only supposed to handle like 110hp. Are there any performance transmission parts for that tranny beside a clutch? What about the 4a tranny? How much can it handle? Lemme know what you guys think or if you know any parts or swaps i can do to beef up this tranny to handle a lil more power.

I was on a www.importperformanceparts.net looking for a performance rebuild kit for a 7afe. I found one but it was out of a Geo Prism. I know Geo had some Toyota engines in then for a while. But when i look for the 7afe under toyota they dont have one listed. =/ The Geo kit is a 18.L 81mm bore 7afe out of a 93-97 Geo Prism. Could i used that HP rebuild kit on my 94 ST engine? Does anyone know if the 7afe in the Geo was any different?

Ok im confused.....I know that you swap the selctor shaft and selectors from the alltrac tranny to the MR2 Tranny. That puts everything on the side you need it. Is there space on the Mr2 tranny to mount the shifter cable brackets on the right side? I know you have to drill and tap holes to mount the selectors. Do i have to do the same to mount the shift cable brakcet?

If i use the E153 tranny from an MR2 turbo do i need to change the flywheel on the engine i get from my ST185 swap? I havent read anywhere where is says that i need to change it. It says i need to use an MR2 turbo clutch set up but does that include the flywheel?

I found this JDM e153 tranny out of an MR2. I talked to the guy that has it and he says he bought it for his ST205 swap but couldnt use it b/c the bracket for the shifter cables were on the wrong side. I looked at the tranny and kinda saw what he was talking about. But i havent heard of anyone else having that problem. I looked at the treanny and saw what he was saying. You can replace the selector shaft and selectors and have them both on the opposite side.....but then when you replace the shifter cable bracket its still on the other side. Is it supposed to be on the other side or is that what they meant in the wrie up on it where you have to extend the shifter cables......let me know guys......thanks!

I found a MR2 turbo E153 transmission im thinking of using in my 3sgte swap. The only thing is that the bell housing is empty.....no clutch set-up. Now when i get my ST185 swap that comes with the awd tranny......can i use the GT4 clutch set up with the E153 transmission? I figured it should work if the shafts coming from the transmission and the bell housings are the same size......right? I doubt it, but i thought Id ask since both transmissions paired up with the 3sgte.

Yeah....I wasnt gonna run the duals until i did my 3s swap......I dont think im gonna do it though. Another reason I was thinking about it was b/c i think im gonna get the Pakfiefer kit and the rear bumper has openings for duals. Didnt wanna have an open hole there. But the car in the pic has single exhaust and it still looks good. Thanks for your help guys!

Yeah thats what someone told me. That running duals would cause me to lose too much back pressure. Ive never messed with exhaust systems much. I always thought the easier you made it for the exhaust had to flow the better. So i could just do the 4-2-1 with a 2 inch exhaust and split it off close to the rear to 2 mufflers with 3 inch tips. Set up a mock dual system. You guys think that would be ok? Ive never messed with exhaust systems much. I always thought the easier you made it for the exhaust had to flow the better.

Hey i was thinking about running dual exhaust on my car. I was gonna get a 4-2-1 system and cut it off b4 it turns into one and run two exhausts. Each with thier own resonator and everything. Ive heard some people say that dual exhausts on imports can actually decrease power? HOw could it decreas power? I dont know if those people know what they are talking about. I know our cars dont need duals.....but the look and sound quality would kick ass. Does anyone know?

well its the lil perch at the bottom of the struts that the spring sits on. If you are talking about a coilover system then its the lil adjustable perch that you use to raise or lower the car.

Im about to attempt a ST185 swap in to my 94 ST. I have an entire 5th gen GT to use for parts. Can i use the 5th gen tranny in the swap? I know the tranny will pair up with the motor but will i have to use 5th gen axles too? Then will those axles work with my 6th gen suspension. Looked for the answer for a while but never found it. Help me out guys. Thanks!

Ok i searched the forums and found a couple topics on this. None of them really had definite answers. I got 4 6th gen GT slotted/drilled rotors and I am about to get a 5th gen GT with a blown motor for like $300. Can I use the 5th gen calipers on my 6th gen? Im waiting on the car and Im going to try it. I was just wondering if anyone who had asked about it had attempted it. Just to know. If not ill have the answer in a couple weeks prolly cuz im gonna try it.

I am looking at an ST185 engine swap that with less than 40k miles with complete engine, tranny, ecu, and a "cut" wiring harness. The guy i talked to on the phone was asian so i could hardly understand his english. I asked him what he meant by "cut". I asked like 3 times and couldnt understand him so i just said screw it ill ask someone who can speak english. What does he mean by "cut" wiring harnsess and can i even use that or what?

Is there any variation in the stock tailights from 94-99 in the ST or GT models?

I have a 94' ST and my rev limiter shuts me down at 115. And same here on the RPM's. It bothers me too. Im cruising down the interstate at like 85 and my rpms are at like 4000. I think it would provide for ****ty gas mileage. If those rpm's would go down the gas mileage would be phenomenal. And plus it feels like im running my car to death after the 1st fifty miles.
