not sure how you got away with that since you put an ODBI engine in an ODBII car Does anyone have a list of what is all needed from an OBDII engine to make a OBDI engine work in a OBDII chassis? Someone said I should search and trust me, I searched before I joined the forums but I had no luck. |

wow. lots of misinformation here. you can use just about any 7afe you want, keeping these things in mind. if your car is 96+, like yours is, and you use a replacement out of an earlier year, you will have to use the following parts off your current motor. intake (with throttle body) and exhuast manifolds coolant waterneck crank position sensor, oil pump housing, and crank pully with intergrated trigger wheel for the crank position sensor possibly fuel rail and injectors (but thats more a 5sfe thing) harness and ecu thats the short list. basicly anything on the motor that has a sensor, your gonna wanna check against what you have, and make sure they are the same. if not, use the part off the old motor. That sounds like a lot to swap over. I'm a Nissan guy and when I dropped a earlier motor year 93' into my 97' chassis, I swapped distributor and intake manifold and ta da that was it. Is all that stuff listed above just SOME of the items I have to swap over? That sounds like a lot of stuff. =\ |

I have no knowledge of putting a motor together so that's why I choose to just buy another 7A-FE motor and drop it back in. Question here is which motor would be easiest to drop in? I can't seem to find any 97' 7A-FE, is a 96' the same? And 96st, what other minor mods would I need to make a older OBDI motor work? |

Okay, when did the Corolla's go to OBDII? 97? And would a 7A-FE out of that year be easier to swap into the Celica? On another note, I can't seem to find any 7A-FE motors from 97's, I've only found a few out of 96's, are they the same as 97's 7A-FE's aka OBDII? Yeah, anything '96 and after is OBDII. That's when the change was made. and the Corolla with the 7A in America was the AE102, from 93-97 So a 96' 7A-FE out of a Corolla or a Celica would simply drop right back into my 97' Celica? Anyone with any suggestions? |

Hey guys, I'm new here and wanted to get something straight. Are the 7A-FE motors from 90's Corolla the same as the 7A-FE in the Celica's? I have a 97' ST Celica that threw a rod bearing and I'm looking for a replacement engine. Would it be safer to buy a OBDII 7A-FE from another Celica or would a 94-95 Corolla motor do? If a Corolla motor will do, what are some of the things I would need to use from the Celica 7A-FE to work with the 7A-FE in the Corolla motor? Any info would be appreciate. Thanks! |
