QUOTE (Box @ Jan 22, 2013 - 8:57 PM) *
I get where you're coming from, except for me it's the MKIII Supra.

Funny I should choose today to check in on the old 6gc.net.

I haven't had a Celica in over 8 years now but I still check 6gc a few times a year.

For those who don't know me I was mainly on this site from it's inception until 04 when I totaled my 95 ST. My 2nd car was a 1985 Celica GTS and I ended up getting a 95 Celica ST in 99 after the 22RE overheated one too many times (my own mechanical ineptitude hard at work). The 7AFE was extremely good to me and saw me through many a RallyCross and pizza delivery getting 33+ mpg the whole way.

The power of the Supra is loads of fun and the handling is surprisingly good for such an old car but more often than not I just plain miss the old 6th gen Celica. My fiance never saw my Celica in person and isn't really a car person but she knows me well enough that she will tell me when she sees a 6th gen even if she's out alone and just telling me about her day later.

For a long time I'd check this site with the intention of trading the Supra in. In the end I think I'd miss the RWD turbo a little too much but if I ever have room in the driveway for another 'toy' there's a good chance it will be a 6gc.

They decided on 11AM-3PM. Any and all Toyotas are welcome to attend so anyone in the Orlando/Tampa feel free to swing by. I've been talking with Adam from Kami and they seem like good people.

I was at 215k and running strong before the wreck, and that was with RallyCross beating on it (like AutoCross but in the dirt). Toyota engines will last 300+ as long as you take care of them.

Only things I needed to make it to 215 were an alternator, clutch, and regular oil changes. I was running Syntec 5w20 with Restore every 3rd or 4th change.

Now the Supra (mk3 7mgte) is sitting at 177k and just needs a few gaskets. wink.gif

Exit on I-4 Sandlake, (if your coming from east of I4 you take a right on sandlake) (if your going west take a left on sandlake)

If you need help with directions call me @ 407-352-7024

What would you guys prefer; Morning Meet:11-3 or Afternoon Meet:6-10

*NOTE* If we do the mid afternoon one (11-3), we can buy you guys some pizza or something.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

Have a good one guys!!
Spread the word!

----------------------------------

Not sure how many on here remember me, but I was big into the 6g community until a wreck a few years ago when I picked up a mk3 Supra. Well, it's time for me to pick up another 6g this coming spring, and this Orlando Celica/All Toyotas welcome meet, is going to be my wife's first meet (we met a month before a Pigeon Forge meet and wrecked 1 week before the meet).

From what I understand, KamiSpeed is big into 7th gens, but they would love any and all Celicas to attend.

alamo motorsports in texas should be able to beat that price. they did a gb a few years ago and it was 200 plus shipping.

I was in on that before I lost my Celica(even happier now though with a turbo Supra).

Though I would have been willing to pay 270 for it if I had the cash. These are well worth the money for the extra performance over a standard 2 point bar.

Although I'd ask if it comes with the bolts for the firewall. I had to go to Ace to get the bolts.

I might be able to make it. The only reason I didn't make it last year is because of a nasty wreck that totalled the Celica a week before the meet.
If I do come I'd be bringing my new baby, an 87 Supra targa top turbo.

Hate to bring up an old post, but this is the first time I've been on in a while.

I would have loved to have been there, but the Sunday before the meet my 6th gen met it's end. I like the pics though and I'm really sad to have missed out on 3 alltrac/gt-4's.

I won't be selling any parts since I don't have anywhere to put it while I tear it down. The insurance company towed it off this morning, so it's too late to get it back now anyways. The only a/m parts left on it were the exhaust(Greddy SP), TRD shift kit(I saved the knob), and the strut bar(no way to get it off without cutting the hood off).

Thanks to everyone for their concern. It looks like I'm being charged with 100% of the fault(by witness statements), but the police report is totally worthless. It says that I hit his rear bumper, that his father was driving the bike, and that it happened on an intersection that doesn't even exist.

Anyways, thanks for everything over the years guys. All parts I have are being kept or are already sold(blitz front was bought by a local 6g friend and I'm keeping the rev/speed meter and amp for my next car).
I'll still be in touch when I get my internet back at the apartment, I just won't have a 6th gen anymore(after 5 years with her it feels weird knowing she's not coming back).

Man Aaron that sucks. I was looking forward to another cruise up the dragon with you and josh this weekend. But Im glad your ok.
Bryan

It's still sucking, but I'm getting more back than I thought I would. I'll end up with 4100 all together(not much, but better than I thought it would be).

The crash has been played up on the news for the past couple days(slow news week), and I'm driving a rental Cavalier(I really miss my baby).

As far as the Tail is concerned, my next car should be plenty of fun up there. I'm looking at a late 80's Supra Targa Turbo, an 85 Celica GTS, or an 85-87 Corolla GTS. Just something cheaper that I can drop money into later, but save up for now and get a better car when I get a chance.

Sorry it's so short today, and I still don't have pics up(going in a minute to switch radios and grab the strut bar and get pics), but I've got a lot on my mind lately with the wreck and a new relationship starting(we've been together just over a week). I'll get pics ASAP and keep everyone updated on what I'll be driving next.

Pictures now up
user posted image
Go to MY MSN SITE for higher quality pics.

Well, I finally had misfortune with my Celica. She's totalled.
I was taking a left leaving a stop sign, with a van taking a right(without a stop sign) from my left onto the street I was on. She had her blinker on and was slowing down so I checked the other way and started to go. I didn't see anyone behind the van, but there was a motorcycle who got impatient and went to go around the van at the same time I pulled out. He hit me almost dead center in the front bumper causing the bumper, bumper support, and radiator to crack. I'll get pictures up ASAP(it happened 6/20 at about 5:45pm but I was with my g/f at the emergency room last night).
As for human injuries, the airbag burnt some hair on my arm and left a nasty rash, my girlfriend got some serious whiplash, but should be fine in a few days, and the kid(he was 16 on a 750cc Ninja ZXR) broke his ankle and got some roadrash on his legs and hands but is otherwise okay(nice helmet, great jacket, but he had on Birkenstock sandals and shorts).
I've already gotten almost everything out of the car, but they wouldn't let me take the stereo(Progressive said something about it costing me extra if it doesn't get to the place with everything intact, big load of BS).

Anyways, I don't have internet at my place at the moment, and won't be making it to Pigeon Forge this weekend(I even had new rubber coming in and was planning on changing the oil and tuning it up today). Like I said, I'll get pictures up ASAP, it's bad, but it could have been much worse. I may try to buy it back(another load of BS, why pay for something you already own), but then again I'm thinking I'll get something cheap for now and save up for a down payment on something nice later. Either way, I'll still be around and whatever I get it's going to be a Toyoda(old joke from the brake cap on the 80's Toys).

I don't know where Laserport is, but as long as it's in the PF/Gatlinburg area I'm sure it would be awesome. Just make sure your boss knows there would be 20-30 of us(I'm guessing by the response here and on Celica.net).

It will fit. But here's another option just in case you're sceptical: Bulletproof Auto(scroll down to the Jspeed bar)
I've got the Jspeed 3-point bar on my ST and it made a huge difference in the turns.

I had idle problems about a year ago. After taking it for a tune up(at the dealership) it still had the same rough idle.
My solution ended up being a fuel filter. I changed it out and the car was instantly back to it's old self.

Brian will let us know when he finds a good place. We had to switch spots 3 times last year before we finally got somewhere that didn't kick us out.
I'm in favor of Fuddruckers again so we can all sit down and grab some food before we head out. But I think we should have a vote with a few different choices.

I haven't replaced the bushings, but I replaced my front sway bar links. Made enough of a difference that it didn't feel like the same car for a couple days.

BTW, when you aimed me I was at work. I leave it on all the time even though I'm not really there.

It's the v6 from the mid-late 90's Camry/Solora. I've seen the writeup on the 5th gen that did the swap and they were very happy with it. Since then I've lost the page for it, but I'm pretty sure that it's someone on celica.net. I believe they said it was about the same price as a 3S swap.

Car: $340 a month for 4 years. Glad it got paid off last fall.

Insurance: ~$100 a month(will be cheaper next time since 4 tickets dropped off and I'm turning 25) paid twice a year($600 all at once)
Cell: $60
Rent: $150(live in an apartment my bro-in-law owns with 2 other bachelors)
Power: $50
Cable: $45
Gas: Don't ask, I deliver pizza so I fill up every 3-4 days
CC Debt: $200(still owe about 2400)

I am definitely one of the people that can't hold on to money. I overdraw my checking account a couple times a month(at $28 a pop). If I have more than $500 in my account it's because it's being held for something that's due within a week or I just got a paycheck deposited.

That's scary. I've got 202,450 right now. It had 89k when I bought it 5 years ago.

I doubt the 86 corolla is the same as the trueno. The trueno has the 4age in it.

You know.. that thing coomer has.. yeah that.

i'm just guessing though, but dont all american versions of our cars get the ****ty end of the engine stick?

The 86 Corolla GTS(and SR5) have early versions of the 4AGE, not the 4ALC that the regular Corolla got.

wtf is heel toe?

Using your heel to keep the revs up(for rev-matching while downshifting) while your toe is on the brakes slowing the car down.

I can heel/toe my car just fine. It's used to keep the revs up, and with good tires there is no understeer.
It does take a while to get used to the pedal arrangement, but once you do it will be fine.

you shouldn't need a new fuel filter at 70k miles. they are lifetime parts on our cars but have a tendency to go bad around 110-120k miles.

Mileage on a fuel filter varies greatly. It mainly depends on the cleanliness of the gas used.

Thanx for the info guys. Also, i wouldnt mind getting some stock GT rims for really cheap with some tires, that way ill have some more traction, and would look a bit better with some sportlines. Any info on where i could find some or who is selling theirs?

I'd recomend posting a want ad on a 7th gen site for GTS rims. 16" and they normally sell for 400-600 with decent tread left on the tires(not to mention they look fairly decent on a 6th gen). In that price range, it's almost the same price as getting a new set of tires, but the rims come with them.

****in right, I just think its retarded to go that fast in any car because in most cases your not the only one your putting in danger! And no one even say its for the track because I dont know of any 2 mile long drag strips wink.gif

Some of us don't drag race. Road courses can easily exceed 120 mph(ie, RoadAtlanta, Laguna Seca... not to mention the less famous courses).
And as far as when I've been that fast, it was I-70 between KC and St Louis at 2am(just got the car and wanted to see how fast it would go). Just me and the truckers(which loved it btw, the CB chatter was hilarious). Other than that night, I've only hit 120-125 a couple times(again, with no traffic around). In traffic I've hit 110, but that was downtown ATL, which anyone whose been there knows that you get passed at anything less than 100(except rush hour).
