Love the panda paint scheme. smile.gif

I had a JDM Levin that I used to do a lot of track days with here in Aus. I miss it heaps!

Ahhh, looks so gorgeous!

Thanks! Still waiting on my headlights to get in, any day now. After that it's just a matter of getting it all tuned up so it can pass the Japanese roadworthy test (JCI). Hopefully it's done by the end of this month, I've hit a few snags that has put it past my originally planned end date by march...

Pulling the Initial D Trueno look huh? Going to swap the front end with Trueno or keep Levin?

Not really going for the Initial D look. The Panda paint was a stock option from the factory. I prefer the Levin front end.

Looks great, i'd love to own one but in the midwest it is impossible to find one without salt ever touching it

Well, this one will eventually be coming to the Midwest! Once I get it home you can expect to see me at damn near every meet!

Some update: Decided to go traditional "Panda" on the paint. I am having some trouble finding some headlights and a stock front bumper though. The us market has kicked up the price for the whole front end on this car (fixed headlights were mainly available on the JDM ones). Body work is mostly done though! After the bumper gets in the rest of the black paint will go on.

I can't wait to give updates! Come march this will be my dedicated money pit. We have to wait until winter here though, It's way to humid to paint. Then it's off to get a roadworthy test... then the "track only" stuff might fall into it somehow... wink.gif

pandakid- Love your 86 man! I'm going to be completely new to RWD, but there are many tracks here that offer classes, so I will be hitting that up!

The paint and bodywork will not be done until march, so there will not be many updates until then.

Hey guy's, figured I'd start a project thread. I just picked up this Levin after 7 months of searching for one. They are pretty hard to find with a quality chassis this far north in Japan. This is due to heavy snow, and they use salt here. It needs a lot of body work and could use some TLC on the engine bay and the interior. It only has 126,000 KM's on it, and already has some work (gauges, POS sparco seat, coilovers) As of right now, it will be getting stripped down, banged out and painted dark purple. This thread will be going for the next few years, but we all have to start somewhere!

Today I went for an amazing drive at and around the nearby Lake Towada in Japan. No pics, here's some google's on it though

and a Little bit closer on the best of all the roads! This road was maybe 8 feet across at its widest, perfectly paved and ZERO traffic. We didn't see a single car the entire time.

A Curren front on a USDM Coupe would just be a Curren, a Curren front on a Celica Convertible would be a Curren Convertible, etc, etc

They didn't make curren convertibles. They are still called celica convertibles here. Unless you're just talking about the nickname that people have given them.
