hello,
just ordered a mb quart raa2400 amp with mb quart 12" sub and want to make a custom fiberglass enclosure....my question is....how many layers of fiberglass do i need to use to ensure that my sub doesnt crack it. I saw 3-4 in the how too for fiberglass interiors but didnt know if that would be enough for a sub box or not

thx

i thought you had....i just misunderstood you last post..sorry

to meassure resistance...you dont have to have any voltage running through it....the digital multimeter will send a voltage through it for you. you shouldnt have resistance through just a wire....is you ground point ok? if so...maybe that section of the wire is bad

i'm still not positive on what exactly you mean...just tryin to help..so sorry to see a celi down and sick:(

sounds like the fuse connections arent good and causing too much resistance....yes the resistance with the fuse should be practically zero
use the multimeter and check the resistance from the wire on one side of the fuse to the a wire on the other side of the fuse....resistance should be very low. Current= voltage/ Resistance so your resistance should be small or everything after the fuse will have little to no voltage since the current stays the same

from what i know....using a diff octane than what the car is made for screws up the timing and makes the timing retarded(a phrase ive heard...im not making it up). this has to do with the detonation being early or late. when you add performance mods and increase boost with a turbo or supercharger...you increase the preassure and the lower octane gas can detonate too early...that is why you use higher octane when you have more mods to keep the timing right. overall...you probably wouldnt notice much difference between 87 and 93 for our cars unless you have mods, so using 93 is a big waste of money and too much fuel sent to the cat can damage it like consyx said...basically there is absolutly no point for a stock engine made to run on 87....you could save the money and use it for mods!

have you checked all of the fuses with a multimeter? i had my amp fuse go and it still looked perfectly fine, also, have you checked to make sure voltage is going accross the fuses to the other side? again with my amp fuse, the one was broke even though it looked fine but the multimeter showed infinite(or really high) resistance(means it was broke) i then proceeded to buy a new fuse and all was good for a couple days until i my amp wouldnt work again. Turns out not only was the first fuse broke but, the connections to the fuse werent making good enough contact. i had 12 volts on the battery side but nothing on the other side of the fuse....you have probably checked this but just trying to help

good luck!!!

yeah...i did go to best buy to look at all the decks....but i didnt look at alpine since i didnt know the colors could be changed.

the guy at best buy knew little to nothing about any of them and the tags next to the units were wrong on quite a few....like best buys tag said that the sony 8810 had an aux in and it said that the 7810 only had 2 inputs

i dont really like the looks of the clarions even though i know they are a good unit, and the alpines werent my favorite...but ill look at them again....but is there any other places besides cardomain and crutchfield that are good to get a deck?

thx for all the help guys!

hey all,

been lookin at getting a new mp3 deck and was goin to go with the sony 7810 because it had high 120db signal to noise, bbe processing and red button illumination as i am converting all my interior lights to red.....i went to best buy today and couldnt find anywhere on the player, an adjustment for the sub.

i know it has 3 pre amps including a sub out....but where is the sub out level control? there is one right??

one of the reasons i want the player is for extra sub output control

i had an old pioneer 4 to 5 years ago that did this and had a 50,70 hz bass boost too....i dont understand how sony wouldnt.....but i didnt see it
before i go buying a deck.....i would like to know what manufacturers offer in sub out controls

i would like to get red illumination or at least blue(some of my gages are blue and red)

i am not really looking to hear a manufactuer war that sony sucks, go alpine, or this company sucks bla bla bla i am looking for the controls as any name brand deck is gonna sound good enough for me(but i dont want to crappy)

so in recap....what decks have sub level control?

thx

i took the face housing of the jc clock and trimmed it down with a dremel until it hit into the front housing of the oem clock. i then cut out the button area on the jc clock face. i glued little tabs of plastic to the side of the stock buttons for hour and min to make the buttons work. i also took out the red plastic on the face to make it brighter and used the oem cover to dim it a bit. lastly, just glue it into place and there ya go.....i have pics and could do a how-to if you guys want....just let me know

thx all

hey all,

I finally got my new red clock installed! i got it to work with the stock hour and minute buttons too! so it is completely stock looking except for the red numbers!
anyway.... pics are in my profile!

i ordered the clock from jcwhitney for 22 bucks shipped and have about 3-4 hours modifying it.....would be faster now that i know how to do it and it looks great! IMO

just thought i would let you guys know it can be done if you want it to be done:)

i got my power for my gages from the dimmer switch.....if you connect to the right one...you have a constant 12v like it needs...but if you dont....you connect to power after the dimmers resistance and dont get 12v.....i bought a manual from autozone and found out which wire it was and it works great

the dimmer is so close to the gages....seemed like the easiest way to get the power to me

hey all,

i am getting rdy to do this mod and am trying to decide if red lighting gel or something like that will look as good as i want. i think i can make a red clock from jcwhitney work with a little bit of playin around. i want it to look dark and bright(not pink) so if you guys with it could post here so i can see some of your pics to decide which to try.
i have seen a few pics that make the numbers look grayish will red surrounding but i want just red numbers

thx
