There is a LOT of info on AllTrac.net. Takes some time to read. smile.gif

The ST185 is more of a cruiser, than a track car.
Keep in mind, the last one was a '93, it is going to take some aftermarket support at this time to make it a track star.

$5K is a good start for a decent level ST185. Most will need upgrades, mods to make it into what you want.
Many MORE Miatas were built. There would be a tremendous amount of after market support for them; easier & cheaper.

There are aftermarket seats or other Toyota seats available for the ST185. I'd have to dig more to find them.
Custom rails could always be fabricated to install any after market seat you want ?
Whether the seats are ugly or not, upkeep and maintenance are going to be much more of a challenge than upgrading the interior.

Best regards on Your choice.

Little update, almost done pulling the A/C system. Need to weigh it all up once out to document the weight I shaved.

Car has been in my garage for a week or so now and I realized that it's leaking coolant, a good amount cause the floor is covered. mad.gif
It's somewhere around the water neck area so I'm going to have to tear that area apart now and go over every line, and re-clamp or replace them,

Just too much and too little money right now frown.gif

Why pull the AC ? It is Cool to have in the summer, and even in the winter it can defrost the windshield.
Pulling the AC is tricky in a ST165, The AC fan controller under the dash controls BOTH the AC and radiator fan.
I think one or both will run constant if you pull stuff. Been a while since I looked at the electrical manual.
The relays and sensors are a nightmare to figure out. There is a water temp sensor in the radiator, not a
switch. Even a Toyota tech knew That one.

Coolant leaks are usually easy to find ? Hope yours is cheap to fix.

Best of luck on the project. I still miss my ST165, long sold now. :-(
But they are a project to keep on the road now.

Hope your budget is pretty Big.

Regards

Sweet, GT4 convertible. Would be a world first if Toyota didn't develop a GT4 convertible concept.

There was a 5th gen awd convertible swap in Sweden(Switzerland ?) . Very nicely done.
1st awd swap in a 6gc convertible. smile.gif

Good luck. Should be very awesome when done.
You've got all the parts needed !

Destroyed the car again. RallyWV has my number.

Not sure what the plan is as far as this car goes. Considering taking it back to 2wd to sell it to future rally racer.
Then selling all the AWD stuff separately.

Bummer. Sorry for your loss. kindasad.gif

Maybe fix up and sell to a 6gc member ? smile.gif

Got myself a meth/water injection system to install biggrin.gif ,
now ive read that pre-turbo is good (cooler charged air and increases compressor efficiency),
read also pre-throttle body is good as well (cooler charged air and cooler cylinders)...

Where have you read pre-turbo is better ?
H20 will eat the turbo compressor blades if injected pre-turbo ?
Possible the H2O will collect/condense in the IC You have a BOV ?
May vent the mixture ?

Better after turbo and IC.
(on superchargers it is beneficially to inject pre-sc to help seal the rotor seals)

You are correct it will help to cool the TB.

Found this quickly on Google search.
http://www.alcohol-injection.com/en/conten...njection-nozzle

Read Max More Boost by Corky Bell.
and more info in Forced Induction Performance Tuning
A. Graham Bell.

Both are not a big fan of Water/meth injection, only in cases where
you are octane limited, or limited my competition restrictions. (rally)

WI is a Very controversial subject . YMMV. smile.gif

It's Only $500 because it is Not done.

" 4WD gearbox (FWD mode) " WTF ?

The "fwd" mode lever is only for dyno testing, never to drive on.
It is possible to switch a 4wd to fwd; If you take it apart. Not easy.

" This is the only 3SGTE EP82 conversion package IN THE WORLD. "

I have seen Plenty of FWD conversions, Tercels, Corollas. Certainly Celicas.
One or two 4wd conversion. biggrin.gif

Maybe worth it for the parts, but it is going to take a Lot of work
to finish. At least an MR2 or Camry fwd tranny to start.

Is it ever worth it to take on someone else's project ?

Thanks for all the info, this will save me a lot of time. I had looked over the car and notice ill have to find a different gas tank or run a cell, and fab up mounts for the carrier bearing for the drive shaft. If I have a rear AWD subframe that should bolt up, correct? So next step is to find me a GT4 clip!

The ST205 rear floor pan is unique to the GT4. The GT4 sub frame will not bolt up directly to other models.
Need to fab up mounts. I can and has been done. Not hard if you are good at welding. :-)
Gas tank for an ST205 or an ST185 could be used, just hangs a bit low.

Have you done a search for ST205 or AWD swaps ?
There were two in the MA area.

Cars & Copters 2012 9/16/2012

New England's most unique charity car show began in 2009 as a spin off of Boston Cars and Coffee,
but in a relatively short amount of time the event has grown into a great event in its own right.
There are few events that can boast 750+ cars, there are even less that can do so and manage to get
you up close to a dozen different helicopters. Cars and Copter's home can be found at
The Plymouth Municipal Airport.
