QUOTE (blackbullet @ Sep 24, 2008 - 11:08 AM) *
I have the same problem... try driving at a slow speed and steping on your break a couple of times..does it clunk everytime you break? Mine happens only when you break at a slower speed... can't really find what the problem is either.

this is my exact situation as well.

i am interested too, i was told by the dealership that my cv boots were leaking.
how much would it cost to just replace the axle instead of just only the CV boots?

also, would anyone know why my car starts to vibrate from 60-75 mph, but stops vibrating around 80 mph?
(car shakes while accelerating in between 60 up until 75 mph)

i live in citrus heights, but what would we do around here in the afternoon? most kids hang out at the krispy kreme at night. its at greenback and sunrise right by the mall. a lot of bikes and nice cars and a lot of racing up and down sunrise. usually race down to coloma and then back to greenback and do it all over again.

after 10 pm they shut off the lights and make them blink red (acting as stop signs) so its just mad drag racing light after light. hella girls be flashing you while cruisin in their beat up cars. fun ****.

500 bucks for the glass and the top.

that 600+ was just for the glass+installation.

thanks guys, i appreciate it. i called the dealer today and he said they dont do it. so he pointed me to a guy, bob's refurbishing or something, he said he can do it for about 600+ dollars. my head is cooling and i'm starting to reconsider that quickest way out thing. 600+ is an obvious rip off.

so.. whats the cheaper option :>

edit: I meant the rear window that the convertible top has. the heated glass.

i was going to vaccuum my car so i put the top down. when it was going down it caught a little bit which it sometimes does. usually i just pull it back up then back down, but i kind of forced it down, and it shattered. i badly need advice on what to do. i am not looking for the cheapest way out, i'd rather go the quicker way.

please please give me some advice.

Those images are pretty big, might be hard to see. Anyway the first page is the quote, the second page is the automobile inspection report. The first page shows the breakdown and fees, type of car, mileage. It also shows that special equipment is included in this policy. The total is $2809 for 6 months of coverage. Very very very very high. But this guy has a lot dumped into his car. Which brings us to the second page.

The agent inspects the car (usually just does a once over and marks all stock). In this case, the dude wants his special equipment covered, so you can see a few marks in the special equipment portion. Thats nothing, there was about 14 pages of receipts from JDM Motorsports for different things from his rims all the way up to his swapped vtec engine. He had to include receipts and pictures of every special equipment, which is what raised his premium so high.

Now here's the warning for progressive users. This guy got in an accident. Notice on the first page when it lists the type of vehicle, below the total cost. It says SALAVAGED VEHICLE. The special equipment on this car is worth more than the car itself. -->Progressive will only give you 70% of the car's worth if its salvaged, regardless of anything else. They refuse to give this guy his money EVEN THOUGH he paid all those premiums. Look at the quote again, he's been insured since 6/10/02. Our company is being sued by progressive for making a policy with this client. They said that we shouldn't have put his special equipment under the policy if the vehicle was salvaged.

Two things basically, special equipment costs a lot of money to cover and watch out if your car is salvaged.

oh yeah and progressive sucks donkey balls. I hope this was helpful as I had to get mission impossible-like to get this information.

Well I did some digging around my company.

Most insurance companies will not cover any aftermarket items such as rims, audio, etc. These things are classified under special items and you must get one of those applications with your agent just for the special items. This Will raise your premium. It will be like having an application for your car and one for your aftermarket ****. This information doesn't include swapped engines. I have no idea if there is any type of special coverage for swapped engines.

But I do know that normal coverage will not include swapped engines, reguardless of if it has forced induction.

I'm leaning towards Matrix 2.5 from Clifford (also DEI I think). They have a nice two way paging remote which tells you even what part of the car is being disturbed I think. Matrix 3.5 has remote start but the guy wont do it in my manual. And since its convert, I'm getting a proxy sensor. I know this guy that seems kinda shady, but his price is about 200 dollars lower than good guys or best buy. I dunno if I should go with it...

Some companies will not cover cars with any type of forced induction. When you get your quote you usually tell them the aftermarket stuff you have and I think that will allow it to be under coverage if its acceptable. I am not sure about this because I have never seen anyone list any aftermarket on their quotes. They always list as stock and list any damages if there are any (like dents that are already there, etc).

If you don't, and you get wrecked, they will cover what was listed, a stock 6th gen celica. If someone cracks open your jdm tails with a bat, you're gonna get stock replacements.

I'd ask your agent about their coverage for aftermarket and forced induction stuff.

i went to the pizza shop to pick up some pizzas and the guy ran to my car and asked me if it was for sale. he said his little sister wanted a car, any good looking car, as long as it was convertible.

women love convertibles.

I've visited best buy and circuit city and good guys and some shady audio place nearby. They all say that its illegal for them to install remote start on manual cars.

Distance: 427.9 miles Approximate Travel Time: 6 hours 34 mins

Sorry, a bit too far for me. Sounds like a lot of fun though.

I've tried waving to so many celica owners only to be ignored. Today I was side by side with a 6gc convertible and we both had our tops down. Cute girl.. I gave her a nod but she just turned away and drove off. I saw a MILF in a 5gc convert two days ago. I tried to wave and she did the same thing. In fact the only response I ever got back was... this dude today was holding a sign for people to pull over and buy his fireworks so I just waved a little bit and he was all 'Yeahhh! yeahhh!'
Granted I've only had the car for a week but I was expecting a little more attention.

I read a while back that Celicas were aimed to sell to middle aged women.

I mean its not that big of a deal, but I can't even get my boost control to work either, but I see why now cause with the hose(?) run as stock its going to 10 psi.'

The only thing I dont get is, what hose? Oh well.

Rock! Jay is leading the way. I don't know if I should try to pay off my car earlier or save up for the swap.

The problems I had with the car are pretty easy to spot. I just got a white 96 convert with black leather interior. The sewing in the interior is undone in a few spots. The rear view mirrow is 'loose'. The antenna is broken (I've heard a lot of people get these with broken antennas). I had a cracked headlight but thats not common. Also, my top is not in the greatest condition. It has holes that were poorly patched up with some sort of glue.

I highly doubt this is common but when I tap the brakes I hear a loud clapping noise? I don't even have to push hard on the brakes. Anyone hear or know what this is?

how about a tiny exterior mod

remove the entire shell and put it on backwards so it looks like you're driving in reverse. instant RWD.

Yeah thats proximity alarm. I really like that remote control thing, how much do those Viper Alarms cost?

edit: wow about 600 bucks with installation. I couldn't find their website though. Anyone got it?

I'm kind of stuck between the viper v791 and the clifford g5. The g5 has the remote warning too. Do you guys know anything about these two? What would you suggest?
