I had this problem last winter and my mechanic replaced I think it was called the temperature oxygen sensor. I am still looking for my receipt to clarify the part, but I suggest you look at it yourself or have a mechanic look at it. Once this part was replaced, the problem vanished! Anne |

My car does the same thing! When I got in '01 it was fine, but the last year its been idling rough whenever the air is on, and sometimes it nearly kills. Yes, you will lose power with a/c, but it shouldn't affect the idle. I am having an all-around problem with high idle and hard to start when warm, and someone suggested it might be the oxygen sensor. My car is currently at the mechanic's; I will let you know what they found out if it involves rough idle and a/c. Anne |

I want to sell my stock radio and also my Pioneer radio. PM me if you are interested! Stock radio- Radio/Cassette/3 cd in dash. It works wonderfully, but since my factory amp blew, its useless to me. I know these things go for over $1000 new and they are rare, but I am willing to bargain a good price. Pioneer- Its a DEH-P3500 thats radio and cd (cdr/rw compatible). I've had nothing but rotten luck with the faceplate, so I am just selling the radio itself unless you want a problematic faceplate! You can either get a new faceplate or I was wondering if you could throw any other faceplate on it. Its a great stereo with great sound otherwise! I plan on trying to sell this thing for something to put towards a new radio- I am upgrading to a MP3/WMA player at last. Anne |

Um... from what I heard, its nearly equivalent to a new radio; you'd be better off with a new unit! You can check their website: Pioneer Electronics I'd let you have mine once its fixed, except I bet its just a matter of time before it goes out again and I couldn't give it away knowing that. Anne |

I got a Pioneer DEH-P3500 radio last July, and now its the second time the faceplate has gone out on it! First time happened in January, and I sent it in for repairs, then when I got it back, it took a week and the radio quit quit. We later learned Best Buy blew my factory amp upon install and I was without a radio for 2 months, then they got it to "magically" work again by wiring around the amp (and it took them 2 months to figure that out, genius!). Now 2-3 weeks later, the faceplate is again going on it! I am curious if there might be something within the car sending too much power to the deck, or if this radio is faulty, which I am thinking it is. I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with the same deck... I plan on giving this dumb deck to the repair service to declare it repairless and then pick up another Pioneer except it will do MP3/WMA/CDRW. Anne |

No, Best Buy wouldn't compensate me for the amp and I'm really mad! The techs refuse to take any responsibility or admit they did something wrong, and after I got the Better Business Bureau involved, they finally swallowed their pride and fixed the radio so it would work. Took them over a month of sitting around and talking crap to me to get that done! I got a $25 gift certificate in exchange in the end. And not having to pay for rewiring. Bunch of B.S. but what am I to do... they're sharks! I think I've got the 6 speaker system and it doesn't have much for bass, so I will end up having to buy an aftermarket amp eventually because I like good music! Otherwise its back to normal... Anne |

I had to learn the hard way about factory amps... I think I also had the premium 8 speaker system, and when I decided to get a new radio, I had Best Buy install it. It worked up til November when the face plate went out, and I had it sent in for repairs and the factory radio put back for a few weeks, and 5 days after they put the new radio back in, my radio quit. No power, no nothing. I brought it back to Best Buy since I thought it was the radio, and after weeks of testing and my friend finally figuring out the problem- Best Buy blew my amp! They wired the radio incorrectly into it, and they should have not wired into it in the first place, those idiots!!! Took them another month or so to finally take the time to rewire around the amp and I finally got my radio back! My point is, if you have power to the radio and the speakers but no sound, you blew your amp. My other point is BEWARE if you have the amp and you get a non-factory radio installed... Anne |

I am having a problem with squeaky brakes when its above 15 degrees. I have heard that the Toyotas are bad for this and the culprit has something to do with factory equipment. Problem is, in addition to braking, they squeal sometimes when you drive unless you tap the brakes. My brakes are from 2000, and they have a lot of life left. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this annoying and noisy problem? Anne |

I am having problems with my '95 GT starting. Back in January, I had the oxygen sensor replaced because when it was below 15 degrees, I could spend up to fifteen minutes trying to start the car. It would start, then immediately stop, and in order for it to keep running, you had to put your foot on the gas for about 30 seconds, and it would idle irradically sometimes. Now that its warm out, its starting to do it over 80 degrees, and the mechanic said by replacing the sensor this problem shouldn't exist. I also have a strange rattle that sounds like you have one of those figurines on a spring and its bouncing back and forth on the dash. I had my belts and hoses tightened or replaced in January, but... Any suggestions on what could be going wrong? Anne |

I checked my tires tonight and they were at 35 psi after the car had been running for 20 minutes. I was shocked!!! I remember having the tires at about 28 psi for the winter, after having them about 32-33 psi in the summer. So I let out a couple of pounds and the car seems a little smoother already! I dunno what to do about the struts yet; Tires Plus is asking over $800 to put the KYB struts in and I cannot afford anything more than $300. My other option is to put them in myself (oh dear lord... hehehe). Thanks for the advice and help! |

I want to correct my second statement- I never take speed bumps over 5mph! The other bumps are usually bigger cracks in the road (I live in MN and the wintertime murders roads!). I had my tire pressure at 32, as the manual suggested, and then my friend was telling me that was why it was riding so rough, so I lowered them to I think 28. I think I will put them back to 32 today; I know underinflation is a bad thing. Especially since its nicer out now, and it will help the gas mileage greatly! The census says its the struts so I will have them replaced with KYBs. I don't know how to replace them (I am an auto body person, not very mechanically inclined) but I think I will buy them and have a mechanic put them in for me. What's the best, cheapest and quickest place to buy them, online or in a store? Thanks! |

I have a '95 GT with 78,800 miles on it, original factory shocks as far as I know... I've had the car since 2001. I enjoyed the stiff, sporty ride until I hurt my back a few weeks ago in an accident; and ever since, I really dislike all the bumps and jarring! Not to mention my heart racing when I take a bump too fast and my car skips over a few feet (a bit dangerous at times!). When I got my new tires a year ago, the skipping problem went away for a few months, but has slowly returned. I wonder if the tires are bad, even though they are nice performance tires and have good, sticky tread. I appreciate your suggestions! |

My car was having a similar problem this past winter- took me about 15 minutes on a cold day to get the car to start and keep running. Turned out to be the oxygen sensor. It was also making a buzzing noise when I started the engine and for about 30 seconds afterwards. Expensive fix- $500! |

Looking for some cheap body parts for my '95 GT- left and right fender, front bumper. All of these I would prefer either Renaissance Red or red so I won't have to pay for repainting or drive a clown car til I can repaint the whole car next year in class. Please PM me if you have any parts you'd be willing to sell! |

I am having a strange problem with my car. Whenever I hit a bump/pothole/crack in the road, depending how fast I hit it (usually over 20mph), the car skips to the side instead of bouncing over it. It also have a very rough ride and I swear I can feel even the pebbles on the road. I got new BF Goodrich tires last year to factory spec and my mechanic couldn't find any problems with the car. He suggested the ride was rough because its a small car, which is a bunch of bull. The ride is slowly getting worse and I don't know what to do, and I might end up having to sell the car because I cannot bear to ride in it. ![]() |
