Does anyone have a PDF brochure from the 99MY? Or maybe one you can scan? Preferably Canadian. Thanks.

Going to start using mine in November. What are some go-to things I should check on or maintain to ensure reliability? Thanks.

I can repair / solder circuit boards, laptops, and phones but don't know much about cars. I want to look after my celica on my own. Any tips? I own a basic tool set and have changed flats, headlights and car decks but that's about it. I'd like to do my own brakes and basic maintenance. Ideas? Youtube? Get a Haynes manual? Official Toyota service manual PDF? Thanks.

OP, does the starter kick in? does it make the whirl sound, or the chug chug wants to turn over sound?

Yes

Replaced the battery as it was old. When I went to start it, there was smoke from the engine bay and a seized sound. What was seized? The engine wouldn't turn over. Smelled like rubber. Any ideas?

The belts didn't get eaten up did they?

Not sure. What would cause this just from sitting for a couple of months? Thanks

New battery got it started. Barely. There is a high pitched squealing sound when the engine turns on. Is it a pulley? At first I thought it was the oil, so I topped it up. The starter is fine too. I cannot get it to run though. Is this an easy diagnosis? The burning smells like rubber. How much to fix at a shop? Or can I do it myself? Thanks.

Need advice. I cannot store my Celica inside this winter. I have not driven it for 3 months as well. I want to keep it long term, but don't know what I should do for upkeep it. The rust will probably get worse which is fine but I don't know if I should overinflate the tires and disconnect the battery or do nothing. Any advice is appreciated. I want to consider getting cheap indoor storage as well. Thanks!

Just took apart my hood latch. Hood closes and locks intermittently. I took apart the whole assembly. 3 10mm bolts, 2 springs, and some metal. I left the latch wire running through the car. It looks bent or stretched where the tension and spring sits.

How can I clean and lubricate this best myself? There's a lot of wet dirt built up. Not sure what to use. Also, what kind of grease should I put on afterward, if at all?

Thanks.

Tried again after some cleaning. I cleaned the battery and pan but still need to clean the terminals that hang loose leading to the battery. I wanted to remove them out of the car before cleaning them. I tried again today, and got 1 crank sound, then a weak sound as if power is low. I believe it very likely may be the battery at this point. The door chime sound fades and almost dies at a lower frequency when I put past acc and try and start it. This sound was while it was jumped, but the other car was not revved because I was the only person there. Can I charge the battery myself? Should I get a junkyard battery to swap it out with?

QUOTE (Roadrash @ Sep 6, 2013 - 11:10 PM) *
when you say "nothing" do you mean absolutely nothing? you turn the key and nothing at all? or does the engine crank but not fire? or is there a clicking sound? do the dash lights and door dinger go out? Sounds like a battery to me, with the info provided. Take the cables off and clean them and the battery posts with some baking soda and water and a brush. Once your positive the cables have connection to the battery either jump it or put a battery charger on it at 2v until its charged. That's the first step

2.2l, 5sfe. Battery has yellow and blue corrosion or build up. Almost looks like dry foam. I used booster cables with a new car and tried a battery pack. I could get the interior lights on, but when I try cranking the engine I get nothing.

Ideas?

I've had the starter, alternator, and distributor all changed within the last year at different times. Could it be the fuel pump? I recently added my own gas with a canister right before I grounded it. Lastly, could I flood the engine by trying to turn it over too often when nothing happens? How can I diagnose this? Should I clean the battery terminals and try again? Should I change the battery altogether?

I'm thinking of keeping this in my collection instead of selling. So before I replace the fenders, doors, and hatch I'd like to make sure she's running perfectly. Thanks.

Still looking for lower quotes. I can't seem to get many cross boarder discounts. If anyone wants to shop for their own quotes it's from Brampton ON to wherever you are. I've pm'd those that asked and will update if I find anything else. Thanks.

Not to bitch but most of the door panels aren't visible, and the armrest has the typical pitting - no telling if the doors are the same, so I'd hardly jump yet at calling this interior supa clean.

Doors:

QUOTE (ILoveMySilly97 @ Jul 28, 2013 - 5:33 PM) *
Interior: 8 out of 10
Exterior: 3 out of 10
Performance(If no paper in hand): 5 out of 10
Performance(If paper in hand): Depends on if the engine was rebuilt or just swapped with an other engine.

That's what I'll judge from what I see and read here. So I'd say what it's worth is maybe $700-$1400ish.

Engine swapped, not rebuild. As you mentioned - you'd have to test it. Does a good engine bring up the value, in your opinion? Is it possible to fix the rusting areas for a low price?

$1100 as is. Will negotiate. Need to move this from my driveway before winter.

1994 Celica GTS. 285 565 km. I have been told it needs a transmission axle seal. I replaced the engine, timing belt, clutch, and battery (which is not charged) within the last year or so. Changed the rad myself as well. About 125k km on the motor. I also changed the whole distributor, distributor wires, spark plugs (now iridium), and timing belt. The reason for sale is because I already own a new vehicle, and it is accumulating rust in select areas. Hate to see it go. If I had a 5 car garage I'd keep it and insure it. There is a minor issue with the hood latch closing. I find that you need to slide a screwdriver towards the left of you, and toward the right of the car along the hood latch wiring in order to get the hood to close and lock into the latch. Not sure why it works but it does. The second thing - I cannot get the vehicle to start right now - there was blue and yellow corrosion around the battery terminals. I recently changed the starter and alternator, so I'm thinking it's a faulty battery. Either of these things cost about $100 and you can install them yourself.

It includes: Full set of winter tires on steel rims (used for one season). The summer tires on 4 factory rims that can use some polishing are currently on the vehicle (one season remaining). Includes 3 almost new factory rims on the side. Detailed weekly - great condition inside except for a couple driver seat tears. The cd scrambles occasionally but I will include a cassette to aux cable. The ac is amazing and blows cold. The abs light is on. The driver's side high-beam has water in it. I believe the alignment is a little off and may need a bit of front end work. Easy for someone that can do the work themselves. The driver seat currently has a leather tear about 3-4 inches diagonally about 0.1 of an inch wide in the centre that is not in the pic - I can connect you with someone who fixes them professionally for about $80. There is currently black duck tape covering it. I'm the 3rd registered owner. I've had it for 2 years myself. It's originally an ontario vehicle with a small carproof claim the right door around 1999. I belive the amount was $2500.
I live in Ontario Canada but will quote shipping in case anyone would like to pick this up. I will not part the vehicle out. Thoughts? I believe it's worth more than scrap since it can run and maybe an enthusiast would like to pick it up.

I finally found a dealer that was able to send me the OEM seals. Also ordered the Rear main seal.

What's the labour on this? How much time?

Hey. I need a driver's side high-beam light (the whole plastic housing and bulb). I also want both doors, front bumper, and your right-rear quarter panel. Please PM me with pricing.

1st warm day. Saw the engine temp jump at first to 70%, then sat down at 50% until I got home. Was driving for an hour. Also, it normally sits at 30%. Ideas? I have been told I have a small trans axle leak. Could it be related? Should I check oil & coolant levels?

Thanks. I'm not too mechanically inclined, and I don't have the workspace. How much do you think a shop should charge for the fix with labour?

Saw a leak - easy to fix?

Easy enough.

Pull the axle on whatever side. Use a seal puller, and put in the new one. I think it took me maybe an hour to do it. Depends on if you plan to re-use your trans fluid, as you will have to drain to do it.
