im planning on doing a tranny fluid change on my 95 celica st and i need confirmation that the transmission fluid viscosity is 75w-90. I went to a toyota dealership and bought two bottles but the fluid seems really thick. anybody confirm if this is correct or not?

nope biggrin.gif, yeah same oil except i put alittle less of it this time. i usually put about 4 1/2 quarts of 10w-30 castrol high mileage but this time i only put 4 quarts.

theres nothing wrong with the timing. before it would stay at 800 rpm and feel fine until i did the oil change. this happened before but i never paid attention to it until yesterday when it got really bad. my steering wheel started vibrating like crazy at a stop light. ill probably clean the throttle valve again and see what happens after that

what i did was add about half a quart of oil to it and after about 2 days driving the car, the idle problem stopped. i dont know if its a low oil problem or not though.

Ok so i just performed an oil change on my 7afe. The first couple of weeks the car was fine but now when the engine is at normal operating temperature the rpm idle drops to about 600-700 rpm and the car feels like its about to die. Anybody know why it does this? nothing is wrong with any vacuum lines, everything has been kept up to date.

I've had similar experience. The test drive I took in the Automatic left something to be desired because the car never got warmed up so the ecu had de tuned the engine and wouldn't let it shift past third until it warmed up.... But something about the 8 speaker system, the dash like you guys already said, told me I had to buy it. It was so tight in the steering. As soon as I figured her out, the 5s has never really felt like "not enough" power for me even with the auto. It's always been a fun car to drive. Cruising with the Sunroof back... whew.
I drove the family Aveo today for nearly 5 hours on a variety of roads.... and corners that I've taken 1000 times in the celica at 50mph, I literally felt like the aveo was going to fly off the road at 35 mph. Totally substandard handling after driving the Celica for so long.

And don't even get me started on Cavaliers.... that 2.2 is a DOG, the car is uncomfortable, it handles and body rolls like a ship on the high seas, just plain terrible.

HAHAHAHA my brother's said that my celica was like a boat hahaha and it did feel like one. the suspensions were pretty bouncy on oem setup. I changed it to the trd lowering springs and brand new kyb gr2 and its better but i'd like the suspensions to be stiffer so im thinking about grabbing some gc coilovers

My first thought, damn that's quick for 115 hp. tongue.gif Never see the Celica around here either. It's nice having a car that you never see anywhere else.

LMAO i thought the same thing. I live in sac and drove all the way down to san jose just to pick up my celica and its a nice car to drive. Only problems i have with it is the lack of power now after driving my brothers s2000 and nismo 350z and the way the gearbox feels. I dont know about you guys but my gearbox feels like a toy.

i have the same issues with my rear's after i lowered them with trd lowering springs. another person on this site told me it was the top mount on the suspensions that need replacing. i havent replaced it yet cause of money issues but i think he/she is correct.

it rattles on little bumps when the car bounces up and down. Im pretty sure i aligned everything right. I double checked before i put it on. It sounds like its coming from the top part of the suspension where it bolts on the top. I can hear it really loud when im driving through the open space for the trunk

So before i had some struts that began rattling like crazy after i threw on my trd lowering springs and i thought it was cause my struts were blown and not holding compression when i was going on bumps. I replaced it with some kyb excel g's and it still rattles. everything is tightened down and much as it can and its driving me crazy. anybody know whats wrong?

you just put a flat head in it, move it out a little bit, and pull on the shock and it comes off. you don't want to remove them cause they aren't suppose to come out

oh biggrin.gif oops. ive been trying to pry it out for so long hahaha. turns out autozone gave me the wrong one and i didnt look at it hahaha
