I have Tein springs with KYB struts. The handling ability it gives the car is phenomenal, you do trade off on comfort though. Stiff bitch gets a whole other meaning. Though if you want handling over ride, then Tein would be a good way to go.

Also running lowering springs on old stock struts is never a good idea. More often than not the struts blow out shortly and now you're paying more for labour than you would had you just replaced them with the springs.

Makes sense to do it all at the same time then I suppose, thanks mate!

Best setup to compliment each other is the Eibach Sportline's and Koni Yellow strut inserts (Special D). Gives you a modest drop with allowing you to fine tune your suspension stiffness. Perfect for daily driving for any enthusiast.

Is doing the springs but leaving the stock struts a bad idea?

Had a quick search but couldn't find anything, looking to lower my celica I was wondering if someone with experience could give some advice/recommend some springs, also how hard of a job is it to install them yourself?
Thanks

purchased a set of JDM tail lights to match the clear third brake light smile.gif Was also $80 cheaper to buy them from Japan directly then it was in Australia...

JDM tails are a must, good choice! Also not surprised, shipping may be less but people charge more for everything here...

I myself ordered clear side indicators as I'm sick of my orange/ugly ones smile.gif

hahah yeah I replaced my front and side indicators with Crystal Clears a while ago... They look SO much better than the ugly orange crap lol tongue.gif
And yeah the JDM tails cost my $250 delivered from Japan and yet here in Australia they are $250 without shipping... which they quoted my $30 from Brisbane... It cost me $60 from japan... The local wreckers quoted me $400 for the tails, which I replied are you serious? and they said yeah, we were offered $350 which I just said 'Take it, I'm not paying that' lol

I couldn't find any tails locally, think I paid about the same shipped from Japan as well, wait until you look for splitters and skirts (if you want to in the future), shipping cost an arm and a leg for those...

Yeah I know... Luckily when I got my Skirts the shipping was $60 from Adelaide to Sydney and included $300 insurance biggrin.gif My skirts were $200 delivered biggrin.gif haha
I'm in the process of looking for TRD Front and Rear Splits... The guy I bought my Tails from has SIII splits (rear and front) and offered them to me for $400... If I had the money I would of taken them lol

Yeah my side skirts came from Queensland (I'm in Melbourne) for $240 shipped and I got the front and rear SS-III from a guy in Japan for $360 total or something, he was selling front and back separate but when I purchased both at the same time he bundled them and shipping wasn't that bad actually! I was lucky enough to have a mates dad who has all the equipment to spray paint and used to do it professionally so I helped him out with it and it only cost me paint + a slab of beer wink.gif

You mean like the set I'm just about to put on Gumtree tongue.gif

It probably won't be worth shipping though, and I'm missing the centre caps in my spare set. I saw some in Melbourne about a month ago, but I think they're gone now. I'll let you know if I notice any down in your neck of the woods smile.gif

Yeah shipping would be a killer, appreciate it!

Clean looking Celica. smile.gif

The handles don't look right tho, the leather did not stretch good.

The leather on the handles is just a velcro piece that go over the normal ones so they aren't actually attached smile.gif

(moved introduction here so I can keep it updated)

Hey everyone, first of all I would just like to point out that yes i've had an account on these forums for about a year, however i've mostly been lurking and am looking to become much more active now!

My celica: Red, 1996, ST204R, manual, 70,000 km's (as of April 12th 2013)

So i'll start with a bit of background information, I received my celica in December of 2011, after a family member decided to have an upgrade after owning this car since new. Since the age of 10 I was always told that just before I turned 18 the celica would be mine but I didn't really believe it until it happened! Car had about 61,000 km's when I picked it up and is now sitting on about 70,000 km's.

When I got the car it came completely stock, even with the original celica car mats, a perfect base to start changing it to suit me. My first thing was rims, went for a gun metal 5 spoke rim (considering plasti dipping them black soon), following this I re-did the shift boot and door cards in black leather with red stitch due to they having a bit of wear and tear. Along with this I added a hand break cover and matching door handle covers following the same theme of black leather with red stitch. About this time I also had the spoiler resprayed along with minor detailing.

Being from Australia getting parts here isn't easy or cheap, for that reason it has taken me a better part of a year (ordered them in January) to find a genuine SSIII kit with front and rear splitters as well as the TRD side skirts that can be shipped here for a decent price. Following this all the parts have been sprayed, with the front and rear splitters on and the side skirts being fitted when I get some spare time.

Before you ask why I haven't touched the engine or any other performance aspects I'm on my Red P Plates which means I'm very restricted to what I can do, as well as this my parents aren't to keen on me upgrading anything performance wise for a while!

Here is the progress so far in picture form (expect more soon!)

Soon after getting the car and with the new rims.

JDM tail lights arrived from Japan

Tail lights swapped

New interior leather pieces arrived from England

Splitters and side skirts arrived and ready to be painted

Removing door handles and side mirrors for a respray

A great condition, one owner, 70,000km, RED Celica in Aus (and Free!? - or family discount tongue.gif)... You've got it good mate tongue.gif

Great to see another Aussie. I just graduated to green P's myself tongue.gif And also have very restrictive parents... They were not at all impressed with the Spree LED kit I installed, but I managed to slip the JDM tails and 7th Gen Celica rims past without them noticing tongue.gif I decided against the SSIII look (... For now wink.gif ), but I just bought myself some TRD rear splitters. Forgot to mention dad almost had a fit when he saw the pod filter I got free off a mate... I'm not even going to mention an exhaust system tongue.gif

Cars looking great! And btw I commiserate on getting parts here in Aus... EVERYTHING needs to be shipped from overseas and it's never cheap frown.gif

Looking forward to some more pics with everything installed smile.gif

P.S. Have you thought about a spree LED kit? They take ages to get here, but they are great! smile.gif I bought two (one red and one blue) for the full dash kit with ash tray light, and ended up putting in the blue ones. If your interested ill sell the red set for $30 plus postage (assume $5 - I'll cover any extra). Let me know if your interested smile.gif

Haha good to find someone else in the same situation! I'll pass on the spree kit at this stage a few other things I want to get done first smile.gif
