if you smell antifreeze in the car it sounds like the heater core is broke/leaking
was the car overheating?
is the coolant level low?

ya thats pretty much it..how do u readjust it..this cai is being the biggest bitch or should i just leave it alone and the computer will readjust itself and get use to the difference in air temp..thanks again guys.

is it throwing a check engine light?
you definitly want your intake air temp sensor in the intake piping so your computer can constantly be adjusting your fuel map corectly

QUOTE (YellowTwo @ Jun 29, 2004 - 4:19 AM)
Today I was driving home and my cruise control wasn't working. I would click the button, the light would come on, but it wouldn't "set." So, pissed off, I banged it a little and moved the stick in circles but that didn't fix it. So I turned it off, then back on, and when I turned it back on it just flashes on and off, not working at all. mad.gif

What is it?

The same thing happened with my A/C light, which I posted about approximately a week ago. Plus I have that ticking in my engine that won't shut up. Then my sub only works half the time for some reason... mad.gif Everything goes wrong right when I want to sell the car! frown.gif

when a light comes on or flashes it means there was a code set. there is NO cruise control sensor. that system works off of your tps, map, BOO switch, CPP switch, and some airbag sensors.

how do you adjust our timing?

do we have to short a circuit or disconnect a vacuum line?

the only time you have to disconect a vacuum line is on a "points style" ignition system to adjust yours you have to loosen the distributer mounting bolts (dont take them out). then hook up your timing light to the #1 plug wire. start the car. flash the light at the crank pully. and rotate the distributer until the mark on the crank is at 10 deg btdc.

QUOTE (SlowCelica94 @ Jul 9, 2004 - 4:30 PM)
No problem guys. As I draw nearer to get my nitrous installed (aka, i get more money) I learned I still need a lot of things. My shop I'm getting it installed at says I should get an AFC so I can tune the celica when I dyno it.
First off, I'm still unsure as to if I need to dyno b4 and after the install. I seen lotsa people just install it and be done.
Second off, I bought a sparco steering wheel for nothing. Nitrous isn't push button activated. It's toggle switch. As you read above, you flip the toggle switch, and it's armed. Then when you slam the gas (WOT) It's spray cause of the wide-open-throtle switch. But I don't wanna spray in first. So instead of a toggle switch, should i just wire up my ricey lil buttons on the steering wheel, and when the button is held down, it'll act as my armin switch?

Ah, the confusion.

is the shop that is installing your spray going to be the same one dynoing it?
i always use a 5-gas analyser on the dyno to tune a nitrous car

Do a compression test first. They are pretty cheap for a shop to do it, or a tester is only ~25 bucks from an auto parts store. Its easy, all you do is take out the fuel pump relay, take a spark plug out, ground it, screw the tester in where the plug was and then turn the engine over a few times. If the compression is within spec then I wouldn't recommend a rebuild. I don't think the valve seals should be too expensive. They are not very hard to get to, the only tricky part is removing cams and putting compressed air in the cylinders without messing up the timing. But you take a ohc valve spring compresser, and remove the spring take the old seal off, put the new seal on and put the spring back on, then repeat 15 more times.

who told you to ground the plug out, at my tech school they told us to disable the primary ignition system.

if you put to much oil in your car it dosent just burn off it also ruins seals(crank seals), raises oil pressure, and lowers power because the crank has to spin through all of it.

also the best oil to use in your car is the one that the MANUFACTURER RECOMENDS they are the people that made the engine and did all of the testing on it and tried it out with a ton of diffrent oils, they recomend the best oil for that engine because they dont want to pay for it with a warrenty claim.
some synthetic oils are also known to brake down some seals in youre engine, and can hurt it more than help it.
switching between synthetic and regular in my opionion is ok if done it many times, if you put both in your car at the same time with the right mix of oils they can also foam real bad
