Just heard about this car being wrecked in a completely unrelated post on Facebook. Talk about bad luck...

How's the owner doing? Was it ever fixed?

I'll be in Fresno. I would love to take a picture of your car with my engine, that is if I can find someone to ship it. The quote for $300 I got from a random dude seemed shady. I'm just gonna have to go with a commercial shipper if I can find one for under $1000.

Kinda far from San Diego, but some 4gc peeps I know in Cali have been contemplating holding a Celi meet there for a while now...

In the meantime, see if this helps. XD

Hope we can figure something out; Been looking for this setup for ages now, but I keep getting ripped off locally... frown.gif

If you don't mind me asking, where in Cali are you gonna be? smile.gif

If I get the motor and swap it in time, maybe we could all meet up or something. haha

In the meantime, GLWS. biggrin.gif

Hoping to get a GTE from a forum member here soon (the gen3 GE's I was planning on swapping were sold. :'( ), so I'll at least have half of one if things go as planned... LOL

Welcome! I believe i recognise your sn from either alltrac.net or celicatech.

I just sold my 4th gen alltrac within the last month.

lol I'm on both so maybe both! haha

That's too bad. Any pics of the ST165?
BTW, I'm loving your 6gc so far based on the pics in your profile. smile.gif

Still have this for sale?
Might be interested in the motor, tranny, and everything needed for a GTE swap. smile.gif

Thanks!

I want your 1G GE if you decide to sell. Yes, I know it's the least powerfrul yada yada, but it's also the most likely to run on obd2.

lol depends on how much you're willing to pay, and how much it would cost to ship it over to you. biggrin.gif

Leaning towards buying the Curren at the moment. For those that are interested in the Curren, how much would you be willing to pay for the front end conversion parts? (You can PM me if you don't want to post it here.)
All the Curren front end for sale ads I found here were either several years old, or didn't have a price included, so I just wanted to see how much people are willing to pay nowadays for them or if there's still even a demand for them. smile.gif

Anyone interested in an RHD Conversion or other misc pieces as well?

Thanks everyone for the input so far. biggrin.gif

Welcome to 6gc.net smile.gif

just going shift this into offtopic

Thanks! smile.gif lol

Haha thanks everyone for the compliments! smile.gif
Can't wait til I get the chance to make more progress on the Celica. (Would the build thread go in the "My Project" section, or the "Off Topic" section? lol)

As for the Sonic...

haha just kidding. I wish it was sitting like that. (As you can see, I love photoshop. LOL)

No, here's how it actually sits at the moment:

Mods:
Trifecta Tune (23psi of boost laugh.gif)
B&G Lowering Springs
Electric Exhaust Cutout

That's pretty much it for now. I'm technically not allowed to mod it, so everything I've done/will do has to be stealthy. LOL This is one of the main reasons why it'll be/stay a sleeper (other than the fact that I would rather not have unnecessary attention towards a DD).

Neither car can be legally imported on the Stares as a whole. It will be far easier to get an ST202 front clip and be done with it.

I will try to see if I can get them to remove the engine and drivetrain and ship that seperately so that it would be considered "an assemblage of motor vehicle equipment items". (After all, it is going to be a parts car...)

I also haven't been able to find any ST202 front clips with the gen3 3SGE let alone one that is affordable kindasad.gif (Although since I already have a gen1 GE, would there even be other parts I would need from a front clip? I know with a GTE swap I would need all the sensors and stuff but going from GE to GE shouldn't be that complicated would it?)

Thanks for your input though. smile.gif

So 1 vote for the Celica so far...

Hey everyone!

I hope it is ok to post this here... I apologize in advance if I'm posting in the wrong place.

Anyways, I recently decided that I want to import a JDM ST202 Celica or ST206 Curren over to the States, swap the gen3 3SGE and tranny into my ST162, and then part out whatever is left.
My only problem right now is deciding which car I should buy.

Since I will be parting out everything other than the motor and tranny of either car, my questions to you all are:

Which car would you people prefer? Would anyone here be interested in a JDM Curren front end conversion, tailights, RHD conversion parts, etc...? Suggestions or input on how hard it would be to sell parts off of either car?

The Celica has 109,000km while the Curren has 102,000km.
Here are pics of the two cars I'm looking at so that you all have more of an idea of which car you'd like parts off of:

Celica:

Curren: Doesn't seem to be in as great shape as the Celica, but if anyone wants that JDM Curren conversion...

Thanks for looking and have a nice day! smile.gif

Comments and suggestions for my ST162 would also be appreciated.

Hi everyone! smile.gif

My name is Andrew, and I have an '89 Celica GT-S (5spd gen1 3SGE powered ST162). (I also have a '12 Chevy Sonic Turbo, but I'm not gonna talk much about that since this is a Celica forum. LOL)

The car was originally owned by my dad, but he gave it to me after it started having overheating issues. My Celica is my first car, and although I am only able to drive this thing to the nearest bus stop and back, I absolutely love it.

As for me, I'm the stereotypical broke college student that really loves cars and joins way too many car forums. rolleyes.gif
Huge fan of Japanese cars, especially Toyota's, but I like Domestics and Euro's as well (albeit my knowledge of them is a lot more limited...)
I am also a lover of "Stanced" cars, and currently intend to take this route with my Celica. (Already have my Chevy as a functional sleeper)

Current plans for the ST162:
-ST165 Alltrac conversion (got most of the kit already. Just have to refurbish and install it.)
-5th gen Celica Ground Control Coilover sleeves
-Koni Yellow Shocks
-install ST162 lip on Alltrac bumper, and '162 side skirts under the '165 skirts
-17x8 2 piece BBS Style 5's (need to refinish them first)
-gen 3 3SGE (originally planned on getting an ST185 3SGTE installed but got screwed over by a mechanic. Eventually determined after reading a bunch of 3SGTE threads that it would not be feasible with my measly college student budget and lack of mechanical automotive experience)

I post most often on ST162.net (username here is Thaifighter) and Sonicownersforum.com, but you can also find me lurking on Celicatech, Alltrac.net and Zilvia.net. I'm on a lot more forums, but I rarely ever log onto them since they were more for looking at classifieds, and researching on new cars to buy. (Before I picked up my Chevy for my DD)

I've actually been lurking around 6gc for a while thanks to google references of 3SGTE and 1MZFE swap threads. Recently joined because I have a question I've been wanting to ask the 6th gen Celica community about ST202 Celica's vs. ST206 Curren's (going to create another thread for that since it will be very picture intensive. haha hope that's ok) since I might "technically" become a future 6th gen Celica/Curren owner and because I like being on a lot of Toyota forums. Just from reading previous posts, you guys seem so much more friendly than those on forums such as Zilvia or HondaTech. LOL

Thanks for reading and have a nice day! smile.gif
