ST..30+ mpg, I drive the speed limit everywhere though. The performance is a disappointment but the 5-speed makes it fun

First do what blu94gt said and see if you have a vaccuum leak.

If you don't have a leak then try resetting the ECU and have it go through the 'relearn' procedure.

While the engine is cold, put the car in neutral, unbolt the wires on the postive terminal on the battery and disconnect them for a few seconds, reconnect them and then turn the car on and let it idle until its at normal 'operating' temperature (when the needle on the gauage doesn't move anymore) let it sit for another minute then turn the car off. Will hopefully be fixed then.

Thanks, Ill try it

95 st manual's idle speed is supposed to be 700rpm, i just took that straight out of chiltons. your idle speed varies in accordance to all of the data that sensors feed to the ecu. variance in electric load, coolant temp, etc. will all alter the idle speed.

Hmm, I guess its fine then, but it still seems lower then it should be. Car vibrates and such, letting the clutch out will instant kill it, it doesnt let the rpms "drop" like it used too, I have to basically apply gas before even letting the clutch out a little more then usual

Well I removed the ECU Fuse, Hazard fuse and the EFI Fuse after I warmed my car up. Took them out for 1-2 minutes, put them back in, and let the car idle for 10 mins..It was doing fine up until the last 2 minutes and then it dropped down again, the rpms. 700 or so RPM and it feels like it wants to die. I also noticed that when my lights are off, it drops lower then if the lights are on. Wtf causes that. I turn my parking lights on, the rpms bounce up another 100-200 rpm and stay steady at 800..but with them off its about 650-700 and vibrates. Any ideas?

EDIT: Doh, I forgot to turn the car off after the 10 mins was up, then turn it back on, could that be why it didnt seem to do anything? Ill try again in the morning

I havent tried unhooking the battery yet, should I? Getting dark so Ill try it tomarrow if you think it'll help

Awesome! I want my car running strong again, I've killed it a couple times due to it being so low when i go from a light, its on the urge of stalling, I have to give it more gas then usual to get it going

When the car has been running for 5-10 mins, when Im sitting at a light, I idle around 600-700 it seems, it feels like its about to start vibrating like when your about to stall or driving slow in a high gear.

Is it a sign of something or is it normal

Very few...there is a white GT up the street from me that's either a 94 or 95. Bonzaisushi lives near me, but I never see him. All the other ones are driven by old people. Me and bonzai are the only enthusiasts in Kansas City that I've seen.

BTW, legacysti, the GT is not that much different than the ST. So since you only joined today, I'll let you off on a warning on your back talking. You need to know more about your car and others before you talk like that. Other members would not be as nice about this subject as I am.

I also live in KC..well, Blue Springs

I noticed that my rear lights really rattle when my bass is up, even with a little bass you can still hear it rattleing from outside the car. Anyone have dynomat or similar mats placed in the hatch to get rid of it? If so, where did you put it at, thanks

I like taco's too . . but thats 30K for that truck right there. . screw that

You willing to spend $200 on insurance and $300 a month on car payment for like 5 years ? Thats $500 a month.

I'd rather pay $75 a month for basic on the celica, and $0 in car payment and save my money.

I like havin it as my daily, or the alltrac, and a nice sil80 summer car, for cheaper

1993 Celica is HALF of what my 96 Costs. On 2 insurance companies, I put in the 96, Its skyrocketed, 200 a month for full coverage with NO tickets/accidents..A 2000 TRANS AM is 220 a month, a 93 Celica is 110 a month..This is all full coverage. Does our car make that big of a difference?

I wouldn't say its a total scam because it does work. I bought it a year ago and installed it into my stock celica and even though I didn't feel an increase in horsepower, I did get a couple more miles per tank. Except, the gain in MPG is so minimal that I wouldn't say its worth buying. I drive highway most of the time too so that may have soemthing to do with how effective it is, because supposedly it only works when there's more air going into it. I don't use it anymore because of a CAI now though.

Make that 2. After putting this tornado in, I have tested my average MPG everytime I fill the tank. I gained about 3miles extra each gallon after the test. I tested it many times and some how this thing works, but I'm happy.

QUOTE(darksecret @ Apr 22, 2005 - 8:03 PM)
See I like people who actually work for what they have. I have respect for those people, I don't like most Porsche, Viper, Ferrari, and other exotic drivers because most of them get those cars since they are to lazy to build them a car like that or they think it's the prestige of owning it. A note for the people that own those cars I have a '69 Chevelle sitting in the garage ready to hand you your ass and only spent $15,000 to do it.

They are status symbols, so what, they're into exotic/fast cars.
