NO YOKOS!!!!!!! I had your exact situtation. stock 94 gt. no clue what tires to get. I ended up getting full set of yoko avids (i had some jap falkens before 225/50/15) and the ride is **** now with 205/55 (stock). the only thing i love about my avids is they handle like a champ in the rain and the tire life is so much longer than most performance tires (rated at 5xx)

dunlop sp 5000 = 340 AA-A (better ride)
yoko Avid v4s = 500 AA-A

i think the old tires were called ohtsu or something. i was told they were the japanese version of falken

otherwise... i'd suggest you get some ContiExtremeContacts. damn nice tires

Just saying the same as them all. get a tuneup. only reason i'm really posting is to say that i drive a 94 gt stick and i have probably worse habits than you as with the aggressive accel on a green light and about 100 down freeways. i run a 30/10 back and forth to school everyday. I get about a week of driving on 20$ of gas (2.18 over here when i tested). Round about 27mpg

I was looking more at the Red Stuff. more durable for the braking i do.
Going 90 down a 30mph road, see the front of a cop on the other road. SCREEEECH. 90 to 30 BAAAAAD on stock brakes. not as bad on green stuff. Red stuffed is designed for it.

115 in 4th at 5.3ish, shifted to 5th, hit 140, the guy i was racing next to (he was far behind) me got pulled over by a bike cop, so i checked my speed and pulled off the freeway. all on a very slight incline. (very very slight).

Full stock 94 gt, just bought it used about a month ago. only thing diff is brand new yoko avid V4S's 205/55-15 (don't bother getting them. they corner like **** compared to my 225/50's).

225/50r15 was a much harder tire to find in stock. Every place i checked had to order them. Our stock 205/55r15 was in stock everywhere. Also, the prices are exactly the same.

I just got Yoko Avid V4S 205/55...... heh... umm.... maybe i just gotta break them in so they get better.. dunno. My OHTSU (falken) 225/50 were bald but still handled better, but didn't accelerate as fast due to weight.

I just gotta get used to the reduced handling, enjoy my accel, and live with tires that i don't gotta fill up every 3 hours. biggrin.gif

I just bought a new 94 celica gt about 3 weeks ago. They have stock rims but very odd sized tires. instead of the 205/55-15, they have 225/50-15. I don't know if this is due to that but my speedo is off by about 4mph going 40mph, radars show me at 36mph.

Please let me know if i should go with stock 205/55 or if the 225/50 adds anything valuable to the ride. I really have no clue. Only thing i can think of is handling.

I just bought a 94 celica gt about 3 weeks ago. I love it more than the 240sx, pos eclipses, (a little more than a 280z twin turbo datsun) i was test driving. Problem is, the tires are X brand crappers with about 5miles of tread life left (i've driven about 400miles). And i badly need new tires. 2 of them are currently leaking air.

I was looking into the Falken 512, Yoko avid/avs, but then i went to a hole in the wall tire shop that offered me Capitol Negotiators. I've never heard of Capitol, don't know their rep, nothin. If you guys have ever heard of and would recommend those, please let me know.

Otherwise, what else would you suggest for stock gt tire 205/55?
