I need the driver's side suspension arm. It looks like a tie rod for the rear tire. |

Put a 20v head on a 7a block with a 1zz crank and 2zz rods, then put on some 4a pistons. It would take some machine work but you would get just shy of 2L. |

well i found a vacuum leak and cleaned the spark plugs. It started up fine and ran smoothly until it warmed up and then it started to surge again. School has started so I have just taken it to a mechanic so I can focus on my studies. |

My 7afe started having issues while accelerating. The car would shudder when you give it alot of gas. The engine is not throwing a CEL. I have replaced the fuel filter, and tried unplugging the temp sender. The fuel filter did not show and improvement, and the car barely ran with the sensor unplugged. The engine is hard to start now, runs ok while warming up, but then will stall out of if left idling. Once I let it go to idle some times it will stall out when given gas. Once I reach 4k rpms it might jerk now and again but it seems fine. My exhaust also seems a little rich. What else should I be looking at? The fuel pump? Could the O2 sensor cause this kind of thing? The distributor wires and plugs are less than 15k miles old, but could they have already gone bad? |

Uh, the second gen silvertop is the best engine to get if you are going to upgrade down the road. It has the best combustion chambers and the pistons/rods will stand up to small amounts of boost. The kicker is you need to go stand alone or get blacktop electronics to run itbs and to get a boost in hp. |

If you want a 250hp na non 3s engine start looking into a 9age. 7a block, 4age silvertop head *2nd generation would be best*, 2zz rods, 1zz crank, 4age pistons. There will have to be a bit of maching work on the rods, pistons, and crank to make them play nice together, but it has been done a few times on other boards. I am not sure if the setup will rev as high as a stock 4age though. |

I am just now finishing up changing my manual tranny. IT IS THE BIGGEST PITA, I prefer working on the 914 to doing this, but I learned a lot so next time I could probably do it in half the time with a quarter of the swearing. |

Bump Surely somebody knows or can check to see where this goes. I do not want to burn up some of my electrics due to an improper ground |

well, there is a ground on the tranny to the neg. battery cable, which also has a ground to the chassis. I know the starter is grounded because I have started the car up. I had hooked up that ground to the transmission, and the car developed a fault, I know this because it killed the power as soon as I tried to start it. *Sigh, I have that issue with my Porsche which still isn't fixed* |

I am almost done with installing the new tranny, but I cannot figure out where this ground wire goes. It mounts to the chasis behind the airbox. I have read on the forums that on gt's it goes to the starter, but the wire is only about a foot long and I do not see how it would reach on my st. HELP |

If you plan to modify the engine down the road get the 2nd generation silvertop. If you are going to leave it stop get the blacktop. Both are a series blocks and bolt directly in. You can either do the wiring yourself or pay for another member to do it for you for a few hundred bucks. |

My c52 **** a gear coming home from fencing Saturday. I will be removing the axles over the next few days, but what would be the cheapest option for finding a replacement? I was thinking of calling some junkyards, and trying to pick on up that way. The car has 245k miles, and pretty much is my beater at this point. (I pour my cash into my 914) The car only really needs to last another year, and the 7afe is stock. I could have the transmission rebuilt, but I am on a time constraint. So, anyone have tips on calling around? Lastly, on the passenger side there was a rubber ring *metal in the center* that was attached to the shaft. Anybody got an idea of the part number? Mine seems to have come apart and has been spinning around on the shaft for about a week. |

Nice mate, I just got a 73 914 to eventually replace my celi. Trouble is Porsche broke drown two weeks after getting it. Stupid bolt feel out of my suspension grr. If I had the money I'd have gotten one of those though, I am already missing Toyota reliability. |

why go to all that trouble to sc it? The sc12 and sc14 are too small for some with only 1600ccs. If you want more power make a 9age because the 7a crank is so so for high hp. |

why the 2jz? sure it makes made hp but the handling would suck. Why not just do a 3sgte in rwd, surely you could get enough hp out of that setup? |

mr2 mk1 are cheap starter cars, but be careful with rust! After market support isn't too shabby and if you want more power drop a blacktop in it. |

i'd be envious of the folks over in europe who can get the older ones. They weighed a few hundred lbs less because they don't have to have as many safety features as the new ones which were made to be sold in the us. |

The 1200 includes everything needed for the swap. As for the C56 vs C60, it seems to crank up the price more than a few hundred when listed at least from what I have found. Now, just gotta wait from a reply from the importer before I pull the trigger on this. |

Ok, I have a roughly 1500 in stocks right now. I will be moving out of my apartment and back into my parents at the end of june. My car needs a new transmission, pulleys, and has 242k miles. I honestly don't feel like it is worth it to pull the engine and swap in a new trans. I have the ability to get a blacktop for 1200 +343 shipping (to my house, no liftgate), and it might have a 6 speed. They are recommended on this site, just don't want someone stealing it away I could get a blacktop off ebay with a 5 speed for the same 1200, and pay less in shipping, but does anyone recommend sellers off ebay? I could go for a silvertop for 8-900 and replace extras. What parts should I replace? I know I will need spark plugs, new wires, clutch possibly? I know there is more just sorta in a hurry. What do you guys think? |
