The fact that the whine gets louder as the motor is revved tells me it has nothing to do with grounds.

Alternator whine is almost always caused by a GROUND loop.

A lot of mis-information in this thread!

To clarify:

-for a SUB AMP, it is not important to run rca's and power separate. Subwoofers operate at too low of a frequency to be affected by noise/interferance from the power wire. However, a 4 channel amp that powers interior/coaxial speakers will definately need the signal and power wires ran separately.

-Alternator whine will ABSOLUTELY be consistant with engine rpm! As your engine spins faster, your alternator will obviously spin faster too.

-Ground loop isolator's are usually a last resort, after you have troubleshooted every other component in the car.

As other's have said, it can be a number of things
-bad amp ground
-RCA cables might be pinched/exposed
-the head unit RCA pre-outs could be bad
-the RCA inputs on the amp could be bad.

Any questions RandomStranger, feel free to pm me.

But you don't get that special feeling you do when you put new own parts on your car! wink.gif

Do you have a link to where you bought them (sidemarkers) from?

The rotors and brakes will be very easy for you if you have any mechanical experience whatsoever. I'll extend the offer back to you as well, if you ever need a hand, let me know. A friend and I that's also on here have worked on these cars for a while so we're very familiar with most of the stuff.

BTW, I really need to update my profile as I've sold my white celica and bought a newer (98) silver one that is mostly stock. As I type this I'm in between putting clear coats on my tails, I redded the orange/amber part on them earlier today. If you aren't planning on going with JDM tails, you can have the supplies I used to do this. I still have plenty left over!

Both celica's I've owned have had broken, wobbly center console lids. It annoys me. So I went to the dealer and ordered this:

A new lid hinge and it cost $19. Now my center console lid opens smooth, straight, and firm.

very easy to swap out,

4 screws, and less than 5 minutes

Are those sidemarkers the stock one's + tint/smoked, or clears ones + tint/smoke? Great progress by the way, can't wait to see it when it's finished! I'm in Dayton, maybe we'll have to meet up sometime.

this triangle piece may be swapped with the usdm version.

The usdm base is not the same as the jdm power folding, and will not allow the mirror to fold all of the way.

Well I actually was surprised. I expected a lot more from an Acura.

I think it's safe to say that our interiors are one of the best out there, certainly in/for its age...so no surprise there.

Who said anything about a celica interior?

Did you have to sand your gauges or do anything else to get them that white?

Might want to post a size + offset on the wheels, and also what size tires you have on them.

Great job on the project!

How about some updates/pics of the XB and the Legacy? And why are you selling it (subaru) already?

Nice car! Are those JDM fenders, or just shaved USDM's w/ JDM sidemarkers? If they are the real deal, where did you get them?

Wow! Where did you get all of this from? Are you putting on the lip or the splitters for the front?

Haven't done much to the car except for a couple small things:
Sony HU
Rockford/Alpine coaxials
Alpine V12 amp
Kenwood 10's

And I've also installed dynamat + carpet padding on the entire interior of the car (except roof and firewall). No big future plans at least for a while. I have a pair of power folding mirrors I plan on installing with a nice 2-way Alarm.

And while I've had my fair share of ridiculous tickets from the Beavercreek Police, I never did have a problem with my tint. I plan on going 30 next time though

Nice car, Malek. Are you just filling in the holes left from the 3 post spoiler? I'm in Beavercreek, and I've got a bike too. Let me know if you wanna get together and cruise sometime. Bike or car.

Thanks man. I actually think I've seen your car before..or you in fact, with your car. But yeah, I usually ride up to Quaker state every thursday night. It usually has a good turn up on bikes. I ride to the greene a lot too, you might have seen us. Its a group of 3, blue, black and green ninjas.

But yeah, i just filled them with fiberglass and extra hardener. its not sinking in haha has the police ever complained about your tint? cuz i just got 20% on mine and i know beavercreek police. i live in bellbrook.

I really need to update my profile becuase the white 94 has been sold, and now I have a silver 98. I've been to Quaker Steak quite a bit, just not any this year. Any future plans for the car?
