Yes it has cruise control.
As far as I know, the mechanical parts work, but there’s a short that needs to be chased down in the wiring. Toyota in its infinite wisdom (all hail the super car gods), places the circuit through the cluster light that says “Cruise”. If the bulb is blown, Cruise don’t work. Of course you have to take down 2/3rds of the bulkhead to pull the cluster and check the bulb. So guess why I haven’t gotten to that little issue yet.
If all you want is the actuator and cable, make me an offer. Send me a PM and I’ll get you my phone number.

1996 toyota Celica ST hatchback (not bought as an anniversary car)
condition: salvage
cylinders: 4 cylinders
drive: fwd
fuel: gas
odometer: 230000
paint color: silver
size: mid-size
title status: parts only
transmission: manual
type: hatchback
I have a 1996 Hatchback ST, with some good parts available:-
- 1.8 liter motor, runs strong, car had a high front end impact, didn't touch the block. block can be started. ($400.00 singly, $600.00 with the transmission included).
- 1.8 liter matching, manual transmission ($300.00 singly, $600.00 motor included).

IF YOU'RE CONSIDERING A SWAP FROM AUTOMATIC TO MANUAL, I have the parts available on the ST (ALL CAN
BE MOUNTED AND USED ON ANY US VERSION CELICA FROM 91-97) pedal bracket, pedals, connector hardware, master
cylinder, slave cylinder, flywheel, clutch disc (good service life left), pressure plate, throw-out bearing and retainer spring and
all mounting hardware. If you wanting to make the swap, and don't know how, I can be convinced to help, in my garage, for a
small fee.
- All the side and rear metal and glass including drivers and passengers glass and doors (6" speaker brackets have been removed, I
have 8" brackets available).
- Undercarriage (Front Sub-Frame and cross-member) has good metal, but needs almost 100% of the bushings and wear items (including the steering rack) replaced or rebuilt.
(including lower control arm bushings -not sold separately by anyone I am aware of-) replaced.

Thanks for reading.

It kind of looks like the pin in a limited slip. There's some S54 with limited slip's from the factory. It's common to get the wrong axles from parts stores.

What, may i ask, is the difference in the axles? specifically is there a dfference at the Tx spline end of the axle?? it seems to be bottoming out.
I'll have it on the work bench tomorrow and will measure everything against it's mates.
The auto parts store did not have a differentiation for the "limited slip" configuration of the axles they sold.

Thanks for the reply!

You may want to host those pictures where we can see them without making an account or logging in. Imgur and other places are good, can zoom in full size and see the details.

I'll do that sir, check back tomorrow please.

Here we go!
http://imgur.com/gallery/rLrGK Its looking like the end of a shifter fork rod. In one picture at google images you can see the end of the rods have at least one flat on them. its definitely broken off of something, because its rotating 360 degrees with the output splines. the spline bearings them selves have gross play on the driver side.
Looks like we're hooking up the engine support and dropping it this weekend.

Spoiler Alert! (I am not a trained mechanic).
During a rebuild some months ago, both drive shafts were out for the clutch replacement.
One of the drive shafts was missing the Dynamic Balancer thingy. Allowing myself to be BS'd by the counter guy (turns out it was only half BS) into believing that's how they were, I happily installed it. Well, the shaking and shimmying got pretty bad so I sucked it up, was given the part swap (new shaft still no balancer thingy tho). But not to worry, Toyota was right there for me with $98.00 worth of parts to add on the balancer. (I say only half BS, because new shafts manufactured for these apparently DO NOT have the balancer, or the various steps along the length. it appears to be on solid rod 1.5 inches in Diameter the entire exposed length.
This is where it gets a little odd. long story short the right side axle never bottomed out during installation (the spring clip never gets past the splines). Well, pretty soon, all the gear oil on the driveway (and friends driveways) had me looking under the hood for leaks, and there, viewed from another angle was the driveshaft clearly 17-20 MM out of place from the outputs. the sight convinced me to undo everything and see what the hell was going on.
Take a look at the attachments.

I am refurbishing my 1996 ST.
The motor is not on the list yet, because its still very strong, but will be soon (I'm at 206K miles now).

The questions:
In the interests of a little more speed do i try to swap in the 2.2? Does it fit?
Do i just go with an over size ring and piston kit and cough up the machining charge?

Additionally does anyone have a link for gear kits/sets for the 5 speed?

Thanks!
