The guy was pretty cool, almost home with the motor now, was an auto, came with most of an auto wiring harness. This whole project took a turn, thank you again for finding me options ![]() |

Wow, i cannot thank you enough, somehow i missed these golden ads, i got ahold of the $280 camry motor option, they guy told me it is in fact the 2.2, ran when pulled, and can be picked up whenever, i will be going down to GR friday night at the latest. I'm hoping this guy in SE Grand Rapids is honest about it running when pulled. If everything falls in place just perfectly, you will find me on my "longevity" thread in the projects section making my celica that of the gods, the average, slow, cool-looking gods. P.S. Sandusky, if you are in need of any parts, let me know, they're yours. I've a bit a of a graveyard of good parts around here. |

I cannot seem to find a good diagram. I am lost with the hose on the front(engine front) side of intake manifold. The hose bottom right (looking at from pass. side) closest to oil cap. Comes out and chills by my shift cables. Can't find anywhere for it to go. I just finished my first rebuild. And it runs! But rough lol. Please help will add pics soon |

been quite some time now and i havent updated this thread at all. since my last post, ive rebuilt my engine .20 over. fires up, needs just a little more love. anyway, i will post pictures of cool things and captions and stuff. I figured the best way to start was to remove the motor from the car. so i did that. also im having trouble right now figuring out exactly where the vacuum hose goes from the fuel pressure regulator. anyone? ![]() ![]() i cleaned the head with engine degreaser, coca cola, and made real progress with my pressure washer hooked up to the hot water. i gave it all new seals, skipped machine work, seems to be alright. ![]() just learning how to weld here. i made a custom valve spring compressor, works. lost retainer clips before this geniusness. ![]() after having the machine shop clean my block, bored cylinders .20 over. painted, put together all rotating assembly ![]() aaand mostly together now... ![]() sorry about the lack of details. this car will now hopefully be my DD for years, visual mods to come. along with basic maintenance stuff. if you have any questions for me about the rebuild, im always happy to help. i also need some help myself, i have A LOT of left over bolts. my car runs fine and shoots no codes, and im not quite sure how i pulled that off. more pics and stuff later today, gotta run out the door |

Actually yes, i feel thats where i went wrong, i left everything held up by a hoist one night and overnight it lowered and i think actually rested all the weight against my pullies, hanging from just that mount. Im currently further in there, gonna take out front and rear mount bolts,jack/tilt the engine up and over for clearance on the sheered bolt, will take pics and leave details here for anyone else having similar problem On the right side of pic you can see where this bolt sheered, its at the worst angle to reach honestly ![]() |

Soo yea, my mount bracket actually sheered out of the engine block, and here we are ![]() So time to fire up chevy tracker of shame until work is done here, probably just moved my rebuild forward some weeks. Any ideas for fixing my bracket situation? Cant get a back up bit to get the sheered bolt out quite yet. P.s. thank you perkyshadow for mount, but you were right,my mount was fine the whole time |

Let me just start off by saying, the first portion of this thread is going to be repairs from the past, for my own keeping track. I literally plan to give it a new everything, first just keeping it alive and finding another 5s/s54 to rebuild. But as time and money slowly get there, im going to go with a lot of performance spec stuff, if its going to last longer than oem. First things first, at 150k, the cool cat who previously owned this got some chattery clutch plate like 12k after install, what an amatuer! So I went with an exedy clutch kit to get me on the road. (at 20k on it now with 0 issues, and near 0 wear). Also bought new flywheel, I have my old one which ill add a pic of soon, just needs a resurface, will sell for FREE +shipping if anyone needs ![]() ![]() In that second pic, there is what seems to be a ground wire just chillin, anyone know where that goes, been hangin free for a while now lol I guarantee youre all going to love my ghetto quickfixes, I seriously need a parts 6gc for stupid ****. |

My mount went to **** last night, im wondering if driving with a bad front right mount is going to put a lot of stress on my diff, or trans (manual). Im willing to send money to reputable people on here for that mount. I live in mi, the closer the better. Also interested in treating myself to polyurethane inserts for the other three. Anyway, does anyone know if im going to blow my diff or trans driving how it is for a few days? Please and thank you, pic of my cockeyed engine to come.. lol Edit: I realize i have no rep here, but i have learned alot from this community, with that said, sorry for newb post. Here is my sad 5s, im also in the market for a spare engine/trans and would rather my business go to a fellow 6gc fan rather than a junkyard ![]() |

dunno if this applies to everyone, but all the 6gcs i see around here seem to have the same dented front fender, including mine lol also, you know you own a 6gc when your clutch takes 2 months to replace because you got stuck here and 9 other sites trying to figure out why in the hell toyota made certain things the way they did |
