QUOTE (rhodesyboy @ Feb 9, 2017 - 5:21 AM) *
cheers but I think I need it more along the lateral and vertical axis, so is it centred to the car and how far is it off the ground.

Here are the corner weight results. Not sure if this helps.

Here's the location of the centre of gravity along the longitudinal axis.

That diagram is for the 5th gen JDM mirrors.

Use this one.

finding a used relay with pigtail harness would be the easiest/cheapest option.

Today I got to my car and found a 6gc parked next to me.
I think it's a sign that i should come back.
I'm pretty sure it's someone on here.
It's a convertible with projectors and a gt-four front end conversion.
For some reason it makes my FR-S look big.

Yeah, the moment you unplug the stereo, the stereo locks itself as part of the anti-theft system. Although if you indeed have the same stereo as in the OP, it doesn't check with any BCM or VIN, you would just have to input a sequence of button presses on the stereo to unlock it, which only the dealer will provide. The sequence varies based on the stereo ID number located next to the Toyota logo on the front of the stereo.

back from the dead.
i just had a forum member ask if I ever got this sorted out, which i never did.
but going back to the original question, it's not too hard to figure this out.
didn't know about wheel width & offset at the time i made this thread.

so, suppose you're mounting a 7th gen GT-S wheel on a stock ST205, then you'll need a minimum of 7mm spacers to get the same caliper clearance as a stock st205 (assuming no difference in wheel spoke design/concavity).

this is based on comparing the two wheels specs below and running the math:
st205 oem wheel specs are 16" x 7.5" +45.
7th gen GT-S wheel specs are 16" x 6.5" +39.

since i don't know what the st205 oem caliper clearance is, there's a chance that spacers aren't even required at all.
but it would be wise to at least aim at getting the same as oem clearance and for that, go with a minimum of 7mm spacers, or 10mm since spacers are usually sized in 5mm increments.
although, i'd go with wider spacers to achieve the "flush" look.

The anti-theft system would show "HELP" on the display and the key indication on the stereo would glow red.
Since it's not doing that, and the stereo reacts or has power when plugged, then my guess is the radio is bad.

the main concern with having a regular hood with a ST205 bumper is the added height along the top of the bumper.
so if the middle top of the ST205 bumper isn't bolted against the upper bumper metal retainer, there should be enough bumper flex that will allow a regular hood to fully close.
that's how i imagine what some people did to make this work.

QUOTE (richee3 @ Jun 22, 2015 - 12:05 AM) *
It's not that it doesn't fit, it just doesn't fit properly. The stock hood pushes the center portion of the bumper down, creating a gap near the high beams. Not super noticeable unless you know to look for it.

I certainly agree with you to an extent richee, but this post suggests that installing the GT-FOUR front bumper only is absolutely out of the question:

"5. Can I get the GT-FOUR bumper without the hood?

No. The hood will hit the bumper before reaching the hood latch since the center of the st205 bumper is higher than stock."

That simply is not the case. The hood is no where near hitting the bumper in my car. I think it's important to have correct information on here as getting a front bumper & hood can be costly, and/or if people just want the front bumper than they can do so.

Thanks for that feedback.
I've updated the OP with that new bit of information.

QUOTE (block @ Jul 12, 2015 - 6:49 PM) *
-What did you like and didn't like about?

Likes: better all around performance (acceleration, braking, traction). I like having the auto climate control, especially in the winter. Slapped on a set of snow tires and it's a real beast in the snow.
Dislikes: RHD a slight inconvenience in some instances, parts are difficult to find and expensive to import, expensive to insure, full comprehensive insurance nearly impossible to obtain (at least where I live).

QUOTE (block @ Jul 12, 2015 - 6:49 PM) *
-Maintenance issues? Do you do your own maintenance? Will Toyota dealerships do maintenance on these cars?

Did all of my own maintenance.
Never attempted to have the deaelrship do anything on the car.

QUOTE (block @ Jul 12, 2015 - 6:49 PM) *
-Problematic areas?

Didn't come across any common problematic issues (if there are any) but then again, I owned it for only 1 year before I sold it to buy my FR-S.
Although I had to replace the bad spark plugs, front RH axle, and worn brake pads after I imported it. Months later I replaced 1 bad wheel bearing and ended up doing all 4 since i was planning to keep it for a long time.

QUOTE (block @ Jul 12, 2015 - 6:49 PM) *
-Is it as heavy as what everyone says?

You can feel the difference in weight between the 202/204 vs. 205, but the AWD and especially the 3SGTE in the 205 totally makes up for it.
If I had to relate it to another car, it feels like driving a WRX/STI.

First, congrats on the gt-four purchase.
Second, you can tell it's a WRC by the shape of the heatshield above the exhaust manifold.

also need to make sure the bleeder nipple on the thermostat is on the top side, or else it won't bleed correctly.
squeezing the radiator pipes repeatedly also helps push the air out.

The GT was offered in Canada but are quite rare to find.

They are different from the GT-S in a few ways:

- no sport suspension
- optional airbags (GT-S and U.S GT comes with airbags as standard)
- optional A/C (GT-S and U.S. GT comes with A/C as standard IIRC)

There might be a few more but I don't have a canadian brochure to verify.
This is just what I've found from my personal experience (My sister had a canadian GT).

i've had both and my vote goes towards getting FR-S/BRZ seats (if you can get them installed without too much hassle).
the FR-S/BRZ seats are much better than the 6gc leather seats.
they have bolsters that are enough to keep you in your seat while cornering without being difficult to get in and out of unlike the oem recaros i had on my gt-four.
they also feel comfortable during long drives, look better, and will probably sit lower if you can get them installed giving you more headroom (if you have a sunroof).

you may need to disassemble your brake shoes to test that your cables aren't seized, and the brake shoes aren't seized with the parking brake shoe lever (example).
i've had the brake shoe lever seize with the shoe before which limited its travel resulting to dragging (wheel getting really hot!) and not properly locking up after pulling the handle all the way.
so i took it apart, cleaned up any rust, re-greased the joints, and put it back together.
everything worked good as new after that.
i even went out to do the other side to make sure i won't have to do it again.

hold up.. according to the article, if toyota builds an awd gt86, isn't it within WRC rules that at least 2500 units must be made into production before it can compete?
if that's true, toyota better not shaft us (north-americans) again like they did with the st205!
