Who cares?? Let him do what he wants, its his money and his time. Why discourage?? If he wants to make a project out of it and learn something new why try to stop him? |

QUOTE(b1gr3d @ Jul 26, 2006 - 11:55 PM) CONCLUSION: t03= smaller than ct26 which to everyone here seems too small to even be useful. BUT the fact is that it still pushes air and i am NOT looking to try to get the maximum amount of power out of it and the engine. AND using a paerformance calculator all i need to do for better performance(with this turbo) is get a compressor with 60 or super 60 trim, and even with the 45 trim i will go straight through the center 74% island and at 4500RPM i will just barely cross into the 70%(both at 7psi at 10psi it will go farther into 70%) and with the super 60 i will be just shy of the middle of the sweet spot.....so I will say it now. I will make this turbo work. It won't break any records, it won't be the most powerful, and you all might not agree with it..........BUT there is more than just a ct-26 Go for it man! Thats awesome! Screw all these naysayers here. Do what you want and be different from everyone else out there. Who cares if its not the fastest? Whats better... being just like everyone else and being fast, or doing something totally out of the ordinary (such as piggybacking 2 of those turbos together!) and learning alot by it and getting a good bit of power out of it too??? Id say go buy another one and just go crazy, engineer that beast to work! |

Hmm, Im pretty sure if you had detonation you'd be hearing it... unless they were tiny little pings.... and even then pings tiny enough not to be heard and not enough to alert the knock sensor would probably not be enough to chip the pistons... just my $0.02... I could very well be wrong. I've been planning on going to 89 octane anyway just to be safe on the next fuel up. |

I have a '94 7A-FE and I advanced my timing 6 degrees and am still using 87 grade gasoline with no detonation (unless there was detonation and the knock sensor got it and retarded timing without me knowing!). Since every degree of advance yields just about 1 horsepower... I'm guessing I got about a 5 hp increase. Not much and its barely felt at low mid engine speeds, but upper rpm's u can feel it a bit more. And Im almost positive your engine can be advanced. SO easy to do if youhave a gun and know what you're doing. |

QUOTE(madmods @ May 6, 2005 - 4:11 PM) I use the arospeed cai system. They stopped making them, but still sell the parts, and you see them on ebay every once in a while. They use a large k&n filter. Now that is unique. I have neevr seen, nor thought of anything like that. That seems like it would seriously increase the risk of hydrolock though. Either way, looks cool. Also, I tried removing the airbox and tube that goes to the fender.. but i didnt realize you have to remove the fusebox to get the tube out. Besides unbolting the fusebox, what wires and crap do you have to disconnect to get it out, and is it easy or complicated? Just disconnect a plug or something? |

Why not just weld a couple small mini refrigerator cooling coils to the intake pipe?? They are small and youd never have to worry about them again. LoL... ![]() |

While we're on this topic... The sensor on the stock st airbox is the little thing thats plugged into the top portion of the airbox in the back, correct? I just found mine dangling around unplugged haha... Oh well. |

Is it really that hard to change your fuel filter??? My mechanic said you have to like almost remove the engine to get to it cause its buried in there. I really wanna do this myself to save the 90 dollars in labor costs... Where exactly is the fuel filter, and is it easy to get to? |

Yeah I did the whole "plugs wires cap and rotor" tune up deal myself. Saved me about 130 bucks in labor costs. Redicuous. If only I could get to the fuel filter to change that myself... Thats gonna cost about 110 to have done. |

So it wont mess up the ignition timing at all? I mean I wont have to reset it? I dont feel like running out to my car to see exactly where these bolts are haha... so you wont be messing with the bolts that are used to turn the distributor in a process such as timing adjustment? What about the rotor?? |

Im trying to save as much money on car maintenence as possible and am just curious how difficult it is to do a cap and rotor replacement yourself. I have little under the hood know-how, so if its a somewhat big undertaking, I may steer clear. Anyone done this? Thanks. |

QUOTE(BLINKYxMUNKEY @ Apr 29, 2005 - 8:50 PM) i think you will need a socket wrench with extensions. its been a while since i have done that, but i think i just ripped it out. lol. I just posted that I tried with a socket wrench (well, I said ratchet set... same thing) and that it appears to be inbetween the 3/8 and 7/16 heads!! How crazy is that. I really dont want to rip them out, so if anyone else has input on how to get the bolts out that hold the lower part of the airbox in, Id really appreciate it. |

Heres a question about removing the airbox. I thought Id put it here instead of making a new thread. After removing the filter I see 2 bolts that are not screwable, only able to be removed with a ratchet set. Trouble is... 7/16 size is too big, and 3/8 (or 6/16) is too small!! What the hell! I have no tool that can remove these bolts. How did you all remove yours???? Also, referring to the post above mine... at the end of the article it states.. "Keep in mind that this article isn't referring to cold air intake systems, which do provide a larger performance increase." I believe this thread was created on the topic of cold air intakes, so yeah.. |

QUOTE(darksecret @ Apr 29, 2005 - 4:09 PM) It doesn't make enough of a difference on a stock motor anyway, go with what looks best or is the easiest install, it's been proven that an aftermarket air filter on a stock intake will give just as much gain as the aftermarket intakes. And who proved this?? Thats not what Ive heard. |

Ok... I know the how to section includes the DIY for the ST intake. But look at the placement of that intake and then check out this one. Which is better??? It seems like the one in the how to would get colder air... but the ebay one has the simplicity of having everything shipped to you in ready to install form.... |

I plan on changing my spark plugs and I know the last time I did it on my old car (sentra) I had a heck of a time getting the plugs out once I loosened them. There was really no way for me to get any grip on them with anything so I did it the real ghetto way by putting double sided tape on the inside of my ratchet head and pulled them out that way haha... But my question is, is there a special tool for easily removing spark plugs?? i dont feel like going through the tape hassle again. ![]() |
