QUOTE (PowellCelica @ Feb 19, 2004 - 5:46 PM)
when to court yesterday, almost got 6 months in prison for spinning my tires getting onto a main late one night with no traffic around. I got pulled over by 5 cops and thrown outta my car and they tore my car apart looking for something. Judge ruled 200 dollar fine and 20 hours driving school.......i'm pissed but better then jail time.

What has this world come to when someone can get away with murder but almost get sent to jail for spinning his tires....

dude i totally feel ya on that, the same thing happened to me. i was driving my friends home and peeled out in my moms accord. cops pulled me over and cited me and everything. when i went to court the judge said that the maximum fine for spinning your tires, or "exhibition of speed", is $1000 and 6 weeks in jail. luckily i just had to do 3 days of work project. the worst part about all this is that the night i got pulled over was my prom night. talk bout a night to remember.

wow, 2500rpms?? dont you bog like mad?? my car isnt happy anything less than 3k, must be the clutch/flywheel combo... confused.gif

3 inch piping you probably are actually loosing power all over the powerband on a stock 1.8L

my cars an auto so its not really that big of a deal.

iono, im thinkin of just getting some muffler thats quieter, cuz now im getting tired of the sound. its not really high pitched or anything, its really really deep. my friends thought i was driving some domestic when they first heard it. biggrin.gif the piping though im gonna keep. any good ideas on mufflers to get?

QUOTE (97sccelica @ Dec 14, 2003 - 1:07 AM)
WHY THE HELL DO YOU HAVE 3 INCH PIPING!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

jesus christ, i have a turbo on my car and i only have 2.5 inch piping with a stock cat, your high flow cat probably adds to the noise polution.

hows the loss of low end power feel?

i would be extremely pissed if you drove up my street on your way home every day.

i would walk up to you and ask you silence your exhaust, and if you didnt do anything to quiet it, i would file a complaint.

yah i kno 3" is a lot for an st, but it really kicks @ss in the top end. before i couldnt keep up with my cousin who has a 01 v6 accord. now though im able to keep up with him through 2nd gear, after that i get my ass handed to me. my low end sucks a lot though. i have to actually press the gas whenever i back up from parking spots because otherwise i wouldnt be getting anywhere. but for all the power i think its worth it. biggrin.gif

BTW, whenever i drive down the street i try really hard to keep the revs down. i usually go about 15 or 20 down my street. that usually keep down the muffler to a purr. even if i do that though my neighbors still give me glares. nobodys complained though, and i dont think anyone will. im pretty much known as the good kid on the block. everyone here has known me since i was little. o well tongue.gif

well im my celica i have a magnaflow exhaust, 3" piping, and a free flow cat. nautrally my car gets really loud, especially around 2000 to 2500 rpm. i've noticed though that my neighbors give me really mean looks whenever i drive down the street, and i have to drive all the way down the street because i live in the court at the end. has anyone been through the same problems?

thanx for all te help u guys. i was trying to figure out why the strut brace wouldnt fit, and upon further inspection i noticed that the strut on the driver side had different welds on it then compared to the welds on the passenger side. my car is salvaged so im not reallu surprised that this happened. my guess is that the previous owner got in an accident that involved the driverside of the car smashing into somehthing. and the person who had fixed the car didnt really allign the everything as well as the factory does it. o well, thanx again u guys smile.gif

yah i thought the bodies were the same also. i really dont kno what to do. well my car has been in an accident before, but i really dont think that would have anything to do about it because it was nowhere near the struts. this really whomps...

well i got my gt srtut brace in a few days ago, and i finally got a chance to install it today. the only problem is that it wont fit. am i doing something wrong? i thought you just take off the bolts from the strut, then place the brace over it, then put the bolts back on and put some bolts to connect it to the firewall. when i tried installing it, it was only able to fit to one of the struts. it seems like the brace is to long or something. because when i try to install the brace to the other strut there isnt enough slack because the bar keeps on hitting the firewall. any help would be appretiated. thanx u guys.

QUOTE (hyp3rk1d @ Nov 12, 2003 - 3:32 PM)
Ok.. Right now iam completely stuck on what to do... I want some more kick to my car, seeing it has basically none... Iam thinking turboing the 7afe but i dont know a lot about turboing and about cars.... I have gained some knowledge tho through howstuffworks.com and from here but i dunno if iam capable... Also i dunno if its worth it to do it to my car which has 84,000 on it.... Ne1 else stuck on what to do to get some more kick?? I would love love to go to turbo... but i dunno if i could assemble all the parts and do all the work... I also dont know where to source all my parts and get a good setup for not to much money... Ne1 have suggestions, comments?? Ne Thing?? lol...

dude i totally know what you mean. i could totally use the extra power from a turbo, but i just dont wanna go through the trouble of installation. and then theres ther california smog regulations that i have to go through. so from here on out im goin to focus totally on the suspension setup. the way i see it its a waste to put any more money into the 7a. i would rather spend money on upgrading the best feature of the car, the suspension. thats just me though biggrin.gif

ok i think i can help you out here. this is what i have learned. somebodyh correct me if im wrong though

3s= type of head
gte= turbo charged perfroamnce engine

the same thing goes for any other toyota engine. the first 2 characters denote what kind of head it is, and the last charcters denote whether the engine is an economy engine or a performance engine. the last charcters go something like this.

fe= economy engine
ge= performance engine
gze= supercharged performance engine
gte= turbocharged performance engine

hope that helps u out. anybody correct me if im wrong though biggrin.gif

ok, well i just got back from sacramento raceway. i had a good time and all, but i was really disapointed with the times i got. the last time i went there my best time was 17.58, that was with my shortram intake. now i have a cold air intake, and after a few runs my best time came out to be 17.62. can somebody help me? can it be the diameter of my intake? i am running 3" diameter on the intake pipes. if so i think im just goin to go and make one with a 2.5" diameter. what do you guys suggest?

well whenever i put it into drive it engages and everything, the only problem is that it doesnt really lock in like it should. most times it would require a some force to put it into nuetral. but now that i put on the CAI all that is needed to pop it out of drive is a little nudge.
