Although it appears to be a 'common' problem, my guess is our cars are now at an age/mileage where its just inevitable parts give up the ghost. I need to switch my Fluid out, when I top up (using the instructions/guide shown in the sticky,) do I need to cycle the gears when I've reached the correct fill level, and if the level drops, add more? Or will this result in overfill, too much pressure etc? |

jeez, do I feel like an idiot. Belt shredded. Should listened to the chirping sound and done something about it. My excuse? Too busy to pop my head into the engine bay. Hopefully nothing seized up on way home. Don't be a total halfwit like me. If u hear a squeal, pay it some attention. |

Been a while since I've been on, basically because I've had 26000 trouble free miles. This week though, had a bit of an issue turning when engine starts. A bit of chirping from the engine bay accompanied this. Then, catastrophe. Leaving work, lost all power steering, heater started blowing cold, rad was boiling after a ten minute emergency drive back home at night, accompanied by battery discharge light and brake warning light, which I assume means brake servo is not running (does it feed off P/S pump?), although I noticed no drop in braking performance. The lack of heat almost seems like head gasket, although I'm wondering if it's a belt issue due to the chirping, and I assume it runs past the alternator and PS pump. Any input would be massively appreciated. |

Drove some 60 miles to drop off a letter that she may or may not read and may or may not make a difference. It all sounds horrible fella. There's not enough wrenches in the world to fix a damn problem like that, but maybe if it gets your mind off it, then hopefully there's an upside just round the corner. Folks sure appreciate you here, not that that helps much, or that it's the same... Good luck sorting things out mate. |

Today I checked the UPS tracking app for the delivery of my CAI from California to Yorkshire, England. It arrives today! And also, by coincidence, one place it stopped off was Louisville, KY, i.e the place I used to live and where they issued my Green Card! Go Cards! Put em in your brackets, lads, they're playing better than anybody recently. |

Sorry buddy, just watched the video, I have a different (currently unsolved) issue. That must be frustrating the hell out of you. I know I'm a relative noob, but does it have the stock air system, it's not got an aftermarket with like a 3" intake or anything does it? I just read recently about keeping the diameter of the piping down even on aftermarket systems, as oversizing creates bog-down/sluggish acceleration issues. If you've checked it, I apologise, it must be driving you mad. |

I have the same issue, but my fans are stuck on. Replaced Rotor Arm, Distro Cap recently, seemed to smooth out the acceleration for a few days, but the kangaroo-ing seems to have returned. Hmmn.... I'll be watching this thread with interest. Hope you get sorted, Opie. |

Awesome Programme. The USA Special, with the 'truck painting incident' is classic. when I lived there, I showed some of the good ole boys I used to run with. They were like 'How did they not get shot, for such a group of dummies?' |

Sounds almost word for word what the plans are for mine, Vinny. I fancy doing the Accord CAI swap out (christ, the airbox in these motors are ugly) and I think the timing belt and head skim is essential, so that's gotta be done soon. Any tips? What engine you driving? And I looked at PlastiDip too, you gonna brave it? btw, today I swapped out the Distro and Rotor Arm, washed and waxed the car (looks stunning again!) , but then pulled a chunk of split, old, paint off the front near the headlight, so that's gonna need sorting! |

Is that similar to hairline cracks or air getting into the Distro, but on a much grander scale? At least it's an obvious problem. Nice though that these things are so simple there's only so many things it can be. New Distro comes with cap seal/gasket, right? Hope it fixes it, that's one mega looking car, mate. |

New Distro fitted today, matched Rotor arm up to existing rotor as suggested by Bitter, and Boom! no judder at junctions, power delivery smooth as hell, feels like a big change in response. I know 75% of perceived improvement is psychological, but good grief, it's definitely made a difference. Just waiting for NGKs and Plug leads to finally get here, then Cold Air intake next... |

The Rotor Arm arrived today, it looks different... ![]() Is it gonna work, or is it gonna rip my Distro points to shreds? How can I check without turning the engine over? |

Ya, mine runs SO much better with new plugs/wire/cap/rotor. You really notice the difference once you spin it up to 4-5k And the people who told me to be sure and use ngk or Denso plugs were so right, even with copper plugs ngk is superior quality and what is recommended by Toyota. I ordered it all on rockauto.com and got a super deal on everything I've got some leads bookmarked, these: Bosch lifetime wires and these: NGK 8128 But, tell you what, I'm glad you mentioned checking the points in the Distro Cap: ![]() How rough do those posts look???! So one of them is going on order as well... Looking forward to smooth ignition, Plugs ordered too, NGK Iridium. |

yep, electicity don't want to flow so easy through crusty stuff probably need the cap as well , check the inside pins where the rotor makes contact with them http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=91916 probably needs wires/plugs as well, Appreciate it, my friend, I've ordered a new rotor arm. Will check the pins, but yeah, they're gonna be rough, aren't they. Plugs are fine and Ive looked into ordering Stock leads, no point going for NGK heavy duty, it's not a performance car, is it. Should have her running smooth by the weekend. will post pics of Distro cap pins and replace if necessary. Thanks for the link to the thread, I know what to look for now. much nicer to work on a car that has a simple ignition system, I actually understand the process of ignition and combustion on a car like this! |
