I have the OEM ones from my '93 AllTrac in SMG that I won't be using since I've converted to the power folding ones as well. |

Since the 6GC search engine blows dead bears and has taken the last 20 minutes of my life away from me, it's time for a new thread. I wrecked my 94 GT a few weeks back swerving to miss someone who came into my lane around a blind corner on my way to work. The car is still driveable, but it's got it's share of body and suspension damage. But, since my AllTrac is still a work in progress, I'm stuck with driving my GT as is for now. The rear passenger side wheel bearing, upon inspection, is loose. Loose enough, in fact, to cause the brakes to "creak" when I step on them. The sound is variable with the speed I'm driving at. The slower I go, the slower the "intermittent" creaking is. I went to our local import auto parts place to buy a replacement hub, since I don't have a bearing press and Toyota wanted $650 to redo them for me. I bring the thing home, disassemble that corner of the car, and come to find out that the bearing I bought has SPLINES on it! Obviously not for a GT or an ST. So I called the shop back, and apparently the catalog that they pull parts from lists that as the same part for the ST AND the GT for 94-99. Urg. I suspect the suspension between the 93 and the 94 GTs aren't all that dissimilar... would I be wasting my time to buy a rear hub spindle assembly for a 93 and put it in there? Or does anyone even have the part number for this thing? TIA. |

QUOTE(soulshadow @ Nov 14, 2005 - 8:33 PM) Using a bigger 2.25 catback and Magnaflow Muffler The 4age engine deff. eats a lot more and has a lot more HP too. I can spin the wheels like crazy If I rev it high on first gear and then launch. But today when I attached a silencer on to the system. The headers have become really hotter and no matter how high I rev even to red line, the car only spins like wat 1 time and than it takes off. The car is overall slower, cause of the silencer and having more backpressure than the straight flow design when the silencer wasn't on it. What's that have to do with gas mileage or tuning? ![]() |

QUOTE(o0black0o @ Nov 14, 2005 - 2:36 PM) I think every car has some tunes to do once you set after market parts on it. After my intake, and exaust, I just reset my ECU, I felts a the car run alot smoother and a bit or more acceleration. Never check the MPG tho. Indeed. My 2000 Celica GT-S had an adaptive ECU that very obviously adjusted according to your driving habits. If I reset the ECU and then drove like a decent human being, I easy saw 420 miles per tank. If I reset the ECU and went out and drove like a ****ing madman, I'd be lucky to pull 380 out of that tank, and then even if I drove nicely after that, I still wouldn't get anymore than about 390. But, that still doesn't answer my question. What I'm looking for is someone who has done this to a nearly stock 5SFE (I/H/E is okay) and whether they've noted a gas mileage increase. ![]() |

I did a quick preliminary with no promising results, so, I'll ask the question myself. Has anyone on here done a quick-and-dirty fuel tune with a piggyback on a stock (or mostly stock) 5SFE and seen a substantial (3+) increase in gas mileage? One of our local Honda tuners did a fuel tune on a stock Honda Civic and saw a huuuge MPG difference after raising the A/F ratios slightly. Understanding that this was done with more than a piggyback - he used Neptune. But nevertheless, my question still stands... has someone done this with results? |
