That would be sweet, we could take the cars to the track and see how fast your car is with all of the mods your doing... Im hoping to get exhaust and headers soon... We'll see. I should be down in austin for a while this summer. We should definitely meet up then... And if for some reason you see yourself coming up to the boring state of Missouri, we could take the cars to the track around here...

8.5, but you dont need width my friend, you just need a real tire, and proper launch control...

Mig, Im sure jeff would run a much better time than 13.9 if he had good tires, I remember seeing his falken zeix ze512's spin like crazy, get some track 15's with BF drag radials and it will make a big difference.

All this corvette talk makes me want to buy this 1996 GrandSport i saw locally:

IPB Image

Thats a nice vette! Tires do make a huge difference, are the numbers you are running with or without drag radials? Im not sure what the numbers would be like if I were to run drag radials on mine... either way, drag radials or not, your car car still sounds like its pretty quick.

dont sale it, keep it as a project car and dont keep insurance and tags on it and just work on it as time goes and then you will always have the beauty of a celica smile.gif

Right now, it would be a bad idea because I live in an apartment and have no garage or anything like that and its too nice to keep in a parking lot with no insurance. But later this year, my wife and I will be buying a house with a garage and I will definately think about getting another celi. But in the mean time, im afraid I cant keep it. And believe me, i will always appreciate the beauty of a celica...

As much as i loved the celica, it was just time to move on... I found another car and it was almost like love at first site... I drove it and fell in love... My New car I wish there was a way to keep both but there is no way i can afford insurance on both cars plus my wifes car... frown.gif But on the plus side, its majorly faster and more powerful than the celica... woot.gif

i raced a ZL1 corvette, talked to the guy yesterday, its a dark maroon color, but yea(that car needed a tune up)... also his freinds 2006 GTO couldn't keep up, im running a low 13 sec 1/4, but a high 12 in my 67 Camaro WOOT!

Hey wow! Thats impressive, i dont think i would keep up very easily... Yeah, the ZR1s can run a high 12 sec 1/4 when tuned well with a good driver... The driver makes the difference alot of the time... A really good driver could probably get the vette into the high 12s to low 13s...

Out of curiosity, how wide are your wheels? I had so much trouble trying to keep traction in the mr2...

Nice clean ride. smile.gif

...It is funny to see how people always mention power stuff, 3sgte, comparisons etc.. but what about HANDLING? -- If I had to guess, the Celica would be better than the corvette on a really curvy road. The Corvette probably has a little bit of a "boat" feel? ...correct me if i'm wrong.

Well, stock for stock the corvette and the celica are about even... The vette has more traction than the celi (due to 9.5 in wide wheels in back and 285/40s) but weighs considerably more. Now, i rode in my friends vette the other day (same model, year, engine) but he had a performance suspension on it and it was much much better than my celica with eibachs and kyb struts. His vette sits much lower than the celica and the vette only weighs 3200 lbs (pretty good for a huge v8). Also, the fact that the vette has a 49/51 weight dist. whereas the celi has a 62/38(this plays a huge role when going through corners at speed. Where the celica would majorly understeer, the vette can push through the corner with very little to no understeer. the vette defininatly feels better on the road than the celica. Just my opinion (numbers may show opposite)

Also my celica tips the scales at 2850 lbs because it has power everthing, leather and moonroof...

Hmm... while working at an AutoPart store, Chevys and Ford where the # 1 automobiles that we had parts for. Mainly cuz they kept breaking down. You would see repeat customers every other week cuz there truck or car kept croaking out. Imports are the way to go, Dogmestic....Stay Away!

Yeah, i know... I kept saying to myself that i would only buy foreign but i drove this and couldnt resist... This was after I had driven a 300z, a 94 N/A Supra, and a 97 325i bmw...

I may have to do more to maintain it, but its a heck car... Lucky for me, i guess, im a mechanic and have worked on many LT1s so Im pretty familiar with the engine. So I will do most of the work myself (except major issues). After going through almost everything in the engine today, i see that all it needs right now is a tune up (plugs, wires, rotor cap, ect.), and a serpentine belt... All routine things... Oh and the speed sensor is also leaking just slightly so i will replace that too, but not a big deal

Talk about a change. Hey! Lemme know how much it is going to cost you to fix it when it has engine trouble. I hear corvettes can cost more to fix, then what you paid for them. But hey, if that's how you roll, that's how you roll. My dad had a string ray, but sold it when he was a druggie. He was dumb. Still has a 50' Chevy Panel though. I think that is what it is called. I dunno.

well, hopefully i wont have any engine trouble anytime soon... I took it to the mechanic and they said its in great shape and that all it needs is a tune up and a serpentine belt... But yeah, i will have to pay a pretty penny on it if the engine ever goes, but hey, its worth it to me...

Not really having run the vette, i dont know...it feels really quick and capable of those numbers but it may take a pretty skilled driver to run a 13.5 or 13.6...maybe once i learn how to drive it to its full potential...

Actually, this model of corvette has 300 net hp... but it also has 345 lb ft of torque... The numbers are 0-60 in 5.2 and 1/4 mile in 13.5... stock 3sgte on gt4 could run 14.5... On our celi's that is less traction but less weight... I would expect the same numbers from a stock 3sgte engine...

Thanks! Im sure with the mods you have, yours is pretty quick... I drove a friends 3rd gen 3sgte mr2 and it was quick but not that quick. I couldnt get traction on 8 in wheels... He can run a low 14 1/4... with exhaust, headers, ect...

He could probably pull on me from a 40 mph start but only til about 80.... but after that, no way...

Actually its a 95... but yeah, so its an auto...but its still a corvette... its so hard to find a manual in these cars. And the manuals had this thing that pops the gear shift from 1st to 4th during normal driving to help save on gas which i think would get annoying... Its much much faster than my celi could ever dream of.

Thanks for all of your comments...!!!

Thanks, yeah, its a 95 with the LT1 engine. 300 hp and 340 lb ft of torque... Pretty darn fast. I got lucky with this find, it had less than 100k on it...

I had the battery checked and replaced the battery terminals about 2 weeks ago.

Yes, the starter just clicks... But you can turn the key all you want to and nothing will happen except clicking unless you push the gas pedal... I don't know how the gas pedal is involved in this but it is...

i think i will probably replace the starter... But is there any reason that any of you would know of, of why i would need to press the gas to get the engine to start turning over? Could it be that maybe there is not enough gas getting to the engine where the starter could ignite it? I just dont really want to replace the starter and then have it still doing the same thing...if you know what I mean.

I appreciate all of the help...

-Trey
