I have a few sound system questions. smile.gif

I'm thinking of adding a sound system to my car by the end of May which gives me enough time to save up.

Q1:
What is the point in putting a Sub (8") in both side doors?

Q2:
How much should I roughly look at spending for the system (components in the front, 2 speakers in the back, headunit and a sub 10" with an amp)? I'd like to get one for qaulity and not the extreme bass.

Q3:
What should I look at when choosing a system? the Sensivity aka the dB?

Q4:
How do I calculate how much amp I need

Q5:
What can I do to stop the car from rattling once it is installed?

I'm a n00b when dealing with cars -_-.

q1 - there isn't really a point of putting an 8 inch sub up front unless you got the money and time to do it cause you would have either find a really really shallow 8 or do alittle fabrication to your door panel by cutting out the ciricle and then adding like a .75 inch ring or so so you can still roll down your windows and then dynamating your doors to keep for to much rattling

q2- the cheapest way to do it make still make to pretty damn good would be to get a kenwood excleon head unit problably one for around 250 or so for componets either boston acustics or alpine type s and rears try to stay with the same brand. note - if you are going to add a componet set then you will need to amp your high end i recommend the new alpine 4 channels not to expensive round 199 i think for one that will more then you could ever want. for amp i would reccomnd um... either an alpine for 199 or possibly a directed d800 for about 199 i would stay with the alpine. then either buy an alpine type s 10 or i would reccomend a jl 10w1 for $120 or a 10w3 either the v2 or v3 they run for i think 199 or so then a custom box that cost like 100 - 125

q3 - get well known brands don't go cheap and try to stay away from rockford poducts cheap products pioneer, dual, lightening audio, and cheap sony.

q4 - like i said try to get a well known brand on amps you get what you pay for if you pay 100 for an amp that does 1400w won't work for a ten you won't need more power then atleast 400w max so i would use just a decent amp remember if you pay like $300 for a 500 watt amp its should be pretty good

q5 - dynamat dynamat dynamat tighten spoiler, dynamat whole car, and can i say dynamat type products smile.gif

hope this helped if you have ne other questions email me audio_earthquake@yahoo.com peace

any other speakers beside boston acoustic u would recommend earthquake? cuz i was thinkin about goin jl all around. 1"tweeter, 4" mids, 8" front sub, 6.5" rear speakers, 12" trunk subs.

i would say alpine type s or type r's both resonably priced and the type r's have a lot of mid bass.
the jl speakers are good they just don't have alot of mid bass but since your going to do a 8's up front it don't really matter just as long as you got a decent high end you don't have much to worry about if you going to use jls then i would suggest the tr's they aren't that expensive for the 6 1/2 componets i think they are 199 but i will have to check i'll let you know tomarrow how much retail is on the jl stuff but if you want to go all out the zr's are freaking sweet wit a really heavey price tag i know the 6 1/2 componets retail for 799 even costs is expensive on those bad boys but i'll hit u back tomarrow peace

i work at an audio shop that sells kenwood, jl, boston, alpine, and directed this is my opinion on the stuff that we carry and how they compare up. i have feelings about other brands i like mtx subs they are great but haven't worked with them much. memphis makes some good stuff i like their mclass speakers and their old studio amp are great dont care much for their reference series amps tho, kicker i personally like and the kicker subs and amps i have dealed with have been good love the comp vrs and the solos great for spl. xtant makes some awsome products their amps are xtreamly impressive and their x series subs just great.

everything with a system depends on your equipment you can spend 1000 on a sub and 200 on an amp and put them in a prefab box and get ****ty performance or you can spend 125 on a sub 200-300 on a good amp and 125 for a custom box and have a great sound system. if your going to ne thing with a system just make sure you get good equipment and have a box made for those subs for the music you like. here is my reviews of the stuff that we carry enjoy

jl w1's are the way to go for about 125 for a 12 you can't got wrong they may not take alot of power but i promise if you put them in a good box and have a nice little amp you can't go wrong for cheap
or
alpine type s subs are bomb for cheap
anything directed is cheap and dont really care for them to much

for mid lvl

jl audio w3's little more pricey but ****ing a i have installed so many w3's and am always impressed with them take alot of punishment and come out hammering almost can't beat these badboys
alpine buy the type r's take quite abit of power ****ing hammer

upper
jl w6's bad boys that are made for spl take a pair and put atleast 1000 watts and stand back and be prepared to be impressed some of the best subs you can buy
jl w7 expensive as hell but definately impressive for sq and don't do bad for spl did a truck with 2 8w7's wit a kicker 1000 on it and it would tickel your ears
alpine type x bad boys must push atleast 1000 watts to each sub they are xtreamly power hungery subs but sound amazing

speakers
boston makes some awsome sounding speakers that are really reasonably priced definately worth looking into
alpine the type s speakers are good entry lvl
alpine type r's bad boys alot of midbass sound amazing
kenwood makes some decent speakers
jl's i don't really care much for the jl speakers they sound ok but the bostons sound alot better in my opinion although i really really love the zr's but they are hella expensive
alpine type x speakers need alot of power but sound good they take alot of power

amps
in my opinion jl amps (slash series) are the best for alot of reasons regulated power supplies so you get full power not depending on your voltage and if lightening strikes your car, alot of r and d spent on how they sound, will put out full power on any ohm load between 1.5 and 4 ohms
alpine definately some awsome amps sound beautiful and will put out some power however dont go down to 1 ohm and don't have regulated power supplies but still a great product and definately worth buying
directed - cheap stuff one of those brands that pushs but you know its an entry lvl product good for peps who don't wanna spend alot of money but want some power stay away from the d600 crappy amp although haven't had ne problems with the d800 d1200 or d2400 amps

i hope that this might have helped some of you in deciding what kind of stuff to use or not use if you have ne questions just hit me up my email is audio_earthquake@yahoo.com peace out

There are plenty of people using the GT tranny with no problems. That said, if you can afford it, the E153 is a great option, with substantial additional cost, time, and effort involved.

The GT tranny is just plain easy smile.gif

what kind substantial costs are involved but we also found a gt tranny at the junk yard for a gt but info on the e153 would be awsome. with the e153 do u have to do ne thing with the axles? like change or i was reading somewhere but i got kinda confused thanx for the info must helpful
