Unless I can find a donor car cheap I'm not going to worry about conversion, as it will cost me a bit more for parts than I can do right now. I'm going to save the conversion to if and when I do a motor swap. Thank you for the response though, just right now I need to be realistic. |

There is a thread in the how too section of the forum on how to do this. I am just about done with my manual swap on my 95 get convertible. I just bought a parts car, much easier than trying to hunt down all the parts. But check out the tread, has a parts list and all. Found a 94 possible ST (they put LS and says LS on title but Celica doesn't make an LS). It's a 1.8L hatchback model. Would the flywheel and everything work for the 2.2? If so then I may have found my part car. I shouldn't post in a hurry. I did a quick search to find http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...mp;#entry974727 That answered my question |

Can you list what parts you needed from the donor car? Brake Pedal Clutch Pedal and bracket Master Cylinder Shifter assembly Shifter cables what your final wiring ended up being? I read your other post that you couldn't start it with the manual ECU? Oh and nice garage! ![]() |

The only thing you'll need to watch for is OBDI or OBDII. You wouldn't want to plug an OBDII ECU from your parts car up to an OBDI engine/harness in your current car. Apart from that, it'll all work perfectly. If it was off an obd II car would you just need to transfer the the wiring harness from dash/engine bay? |

After doing some realistic price checking, it will be cheaper for me to stick with an auto for now. I do want to convert but will have to be a later expense, possibly with an engine swap. |

Hey Box thank you so much for the info. I'd love to go manual and think if I get a transmission for the 5SFE for now, then it'll be ready for a 1MZ and E153. I would love Supercharged and sounds like I would need to play the lottery in order to find one lol You know off hand what the HP at the wheels are with the supercharger? This is why I wanted to gather as much information as possible. I would like to make a list of parts that are needed and make sure that I have everything and the space for it. The 3MZ was seen in a thread because it has the HP but sounds like a lot can be done with the 1MZ and it is a bit easier to put in. |

I am getting info on a possible swap. I seen a thread with pics and the video (K-ESD) The 3MZ-FE has higher horsepower but not good for turbo. The 3VZ-FE has lower horsepower but is a good solid motor, and with a cam and other parts can get the same hp as the MZ I would want to use the E153 Tranny How much would something like this cost realistically? I could fix mine and just stay stock with an auto I've had an itch to do a swap ever since I had a Supra about 8 years ago but I am also realistic! EDIT: I have seen the info from the following thread: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=45161 What I'm looking for is a realistic cost factor. I know there are some enthusiests in Texas, and I may be moving there within the next year. If that happens then I would probably convert the car to manual tranny for now (tranny is bad) and then do a swap later on. |

I've done searches on different sites and wondering since I have a bad transmission if I should do the swap to a manual transmission. I did some searching on the forum but info seems to be scattered at best Would a stock 5 speed be best or is there a mod that could be done? What else would I need? The automatic transmission is the electronic controlled version A140E paired up to the 5-SFE 95 Celica GT Convertible Bad auto transmission sitting on ground, car is up on jack stands Details about the car can be found in my profile. |

I have been looking for a replacement transmission. I noticed on cars that are listed as compatible that the mounts are in different locations and seem to be bolted differently. Have not removed one to check and see exactly how it is done as it would be hours at a junk yard. On the ones I am speaking of, the transmission mount is on the sub-frame which goes all the way across to the front. If they can be removed and I use mine, it would make finding one a ton easier. Are the transmissions the same with just different mounts that can be swapped? |

Is the light on your Cluster that says O/D OFF illuminated? and does it turn on when pressing the button? Just because the bulb could be blown and you might have it on. Also check the cable that goes from the transmission to the Throttle body. it could be too tight and the transmission thinks you're at 1/2 open throttle when at 1/4 which would cause the car to shift at higher RPMs Thanks I will check the cable. The light does turn on and off when the button is pressed. Neutral safety switch. ![]() As far as the other not having enough fluid the transmission won't shift properly, that or a bad solenoid will also cause issues. Speaking of neutral safety switch, found out that one of the wires was melted from a bad CB radio install someone did. I have to solder in new wires for that and the cigarette lighter. I cut the bad wires then ended up with the key stuck in the ignition until I unhooked the battery. |

That's another possibility, could be the computer. Just another reason I hate automatics, only a bajillion things can go wrong with a bajillion right answers... Have you tried shifting "manually" by starting in Low, then bumping into Second, and finally bumping into Drive? Also, the Camry and a few other vehicles should have the same transmission. So it shouldn't be that hard to find a replacement. I have tried shifting manually. First is somewhat okay but it doesn't make much difference if I shift manually or if I leave it in drive. In 2nd it would be about the same as if I had it in D |

I called a place about a transmission rebuild. They told me the would need the car because they have to hook a computer up to it since the Celica transmission is computer controlled. He said Toyota was a little ahead of its time with the 95 being computer controlled and because of this, bench work to rebuild a transmission wouldn't be feasible. Is this entirely true? I haven't seen anywhere that had mentioned this. |

The solenoid internal to the transmission? How would I troubleshoot it? I'm guessing one of the main seals went bad so that needs to be replaced for sure. |

I'm thinking of replacing the torque converter since I have no idea on the history of the car, except that the previous owner just kept feeding it tranny fluid while driving it. Along with that it most likely needs a rebuild. With a rebuild kit being less than $200, would it be worth me spending the time to rebuild it rather than spend $1600 to have it rebuilt? I could get a re-manufactured transmission for around that price. Someone mentioned a manual transmission that was available. How much work is it to convert it? I would imagine I would need the pedal as well as the cable (or hydraulic setup), the ecu, shifter, and linkage. |

There is a plug for the tweeter behind the door panel, but no mount or the right trim piece for the tweeter. The GT's were supposed to have at least a six speaker system. I definitely found the amp. I'm thinking I am going to remove all the factory speaker wiring then run my own. I will have pictures up of what I found when I'm not so tired. |

Engine info in Sig Transmission has a leak. It will not shift right. I have to go 3K to 4K rpm to get 30-35 MPH. I am guessing the transmission needs an overhaul? I also noticed that I have to make sure the shifter is all the way up in P for it to start. |

I was given a 95 GT Convertible with a bad transmission. In researching information about the car, I found that it should have a six or eight speaker system, and that four speaker setups were mainly the ST's. Upon inspection of the car I notice there is only four speakers, 6.5's in the back panel and 6.5's in the lower panel of the door. There are no tweeters or even space for tweeters. There is an amp behind the trim panel under the radio. I have not checked under the driver seat yet. I'm wondering if I need to remove the mirror trim to see if tweeter wiring is there and someone replaced the panel on both sides. Door speakers are not stock either, stock radio is gone, and aftermarket is not hooked up correctly. |
