Hello all, I have a 98 Convertible with the premium sound system and am looking to return the original head unit back in, Does anyone have pics or still have the original head unit hooked to the factory amps? I know how the amps connect but there doesnt seem to be anything to hook the head unit up at all. The previous owner used the harness that goes to the under seat amp somehow, but the after market didnt work either. Any help would be awesome,Thanks!! |

i hate curbs! I was on my way to school and i was almost late so i went around a car and thought i had plenty of room in between the car and the curb... but no, my back rim hit it, and the car jumped out a little. I got to school and took a look and it wasn't that bad, but i roughed up the lip on half of the rim and the tire had a small 1/8th inch slice in it. no seams showing, thank god. the rubber is still on where the slice it cause it didn't take the whole chunk off so I might just get some black silicone or glue, put it on, and make it look like normal. I cant believe you would actually think that putting silicone on the side wall of a tire that has been damaged by anything would be a solution!! That tire should have been replaced! The loads under normal driving are bad enough..add kids being all idiotic and driving like they are F1 Pilots add to the stress on tires.Taking cheap short cuts because your broke and dont have the money, or just dont want to properly repair something is just being irresponsible, your risking not only your life , but everyone on the road around you with such repairs. I see in another post that you wrecked your Celica ( 2nd car wreck and were only 17 at the time). That should have been an indicator that your not ready to drive, but to go on and bolt the nose back together and drive the car??? Its welded for a reason...structural integrity!!! If it were a full frame it would be bolted together, but being its a unibody and gains its strength from all parts being WELDED together that car is/was an deathtrap. I cant believe some of the things I see kids do!!!! And dont even start in with "I bet you did stupid stuff when you were a kid, I DID NOT, I learned the proper way! |

I have not the foggiest clue on how to add pics, I can turn these things on and break them, it appears I have to download some 3rd party site like photo bucket and them import them from there to here, Ill live with out pics until someone explains to me an easier way or an option on here to load pics...sorry but I suffer from PTSD and things like this stress me out. I have added pics to my garage as I have yet to figure out how to add pics here in the forum. |

Is this the only Gen that uses the green behind the faces? I was just in there last night and put blue L.E.D's in. Will see how it looks. |

I noticed the night I bought the car that no interior lights were working save the key light, window light on drivers panel, clock and Radio.Have checked the fuses and all are good. The radio is an aftermarket unit and Im not sure how it was actually wired up since it was before me and if it would have anything to do with the lights not working. If anyone knows of this issue and what may be the cause please let me know. Thanks in advance...Mike |

Have had the car now for 3.5 whole days! Day 1). Washed the top and removed all kinds of yuck from it! thought the water would stain my parking place it was so nasty. Parked the car back into the Garage to dry overnight. Day 2). Bought 16 oz of black dye and applied it to the top in 3 different coats allowing 4 hours per coat for drying time. Removed all seats and vacuumed carpet, cleaned interior panels. Day 3). Bought a gallon jug of Canvas sealer and applied 2 coats of it with a spray bottle allowing 8 hours of dry time between applications. Stole the rims and tires from my 7th Gen and mounted them on the Convertible. Took the lower dash under the steering wheel apart to access the origin of dangling cut wires. I believe they were from an aftermarket alarm system and were VERY unprofessionally installed( insulation was removed from original wire, new wire was just wrapped around the oem wire and taped shut.) Day4).Applied last and 3rd layer of Canvas sealer. Removed front turn signals that were badly faded, after washing them, started sanding with 1000 and went up to 3600 grit and finally polished them out to a clear luster. |

Necro bump. Does anyone know where the alarm brain is in a '96 convertible? It's not under the seat and i dont want to go tearing through the dash if i don't have to. I just took my drivers side dash out under the steering wheel because I saw some cut wires just dangling, they were aftermarket connections that were spliced halfass into the original . I also noticed a lot of piggy back connectors up near the fuse block and since my car has no alarm on it I am gonna say that the alarm once was housed in that area directly under the steering wheel, theres lots of room for it. |
